Once the toast of the ton, Lady Angelina DeBrooke is no longer known just for her exquisite beauty, but more for her notorious marriages. Dubbed the Dark Angel, she has fallen in love for the first time and wishes to marry, but fears finding herself a widow for the third time. With two poisoned husbands and a cloud of suspicion hanging over her head, she turns to the only man in England who might help her…
Benjamin Wallace, Lord Heathton, isn’t interested in playing detective again, but when Lady DeBrooke approaches him in a quest to clear her name, he finds the challenge irresistible. Her second husband was an old friend, and when he takes a closer look, he catches the scent of a foe he has hunted before—and knows this is his chance to finally trap the elusive prey...

Hi Emma, your books sound fantastic. I love a bit of mystery in my historical romances, so A Most Improper Rumor sounds like my kind of book.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds really interesting, and I love that there's some scandal. Not really a question about your books, but in research have you ever found out about any real life regency scandals and were they as interesting as the ones in books these days??
ReplyDeletePeople are just interesting...
DeleteThey cheat, they lie, but they also love and sacrifice...no specific examples but it is a little funny we are still the same hundreds of years later. We just talk about it a little more
I love detectives and mysteries~! This would look very nice next to my collection of Jillian Stone's Scotland Yard series and Shana Galen's Lord and Lady Spy book.
ReplyDeleteThe poor heroine! But does this mean that the person she's fallen in love with is not the hero?
ReplyDeleteps. Naughty is nice!
Oh, he is very much a hero. I love Christopher! And he is an architect, which is different for me.
DeleteThe books sounds great, can't wait to start reading them. Thanks
ReplyDeleteThe books sounds great, can't wait to start reading them. Thanks
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the release. This book sounds fantastic. Can't wait to read it to see who is killing Lady Angelina's husbands. Love the covers. Do you have any input with them?
ReplyDeleteA little input. I really like working with Penguin and my editor is wonderful. But usually they give me the cover and I suppose if I had a huge issue we would discuss it, but so far so good.
DeleteCongrats to Emma on the continuation of her series :) Sounds awesome!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe books sounds like the perfect gift for my daughter in law the Southern Belle. Anything to keep peace in my son's home is worth it.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be able to gift her with "A Most Improper Rumor".
I love Historical Romance, can't wait to read your newest release.
ReplyDeleteGreat excerpt. :) Love your other books so looking forward to this one!
ReplyDeleteI've always loved books about the British Ton. That time period is so fascinating because of what women had to do to in order to gain some portion of control of their own lives. I think that I would probably have been a bluestocking myself;)

Interesting synopsis. I love mystery with my romance [or is it loving romance with my mystery? :) ], and this sounds like a delightful one.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a book that needs to be added to my TBR list!
ReplyDeleteLove the book cover and very interesting description of the story.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the excerpt, I love historical romances with some mystery! This sound like a great read!
ReplyDeleteHello, Emma! Do you have a special person or company that designs the gorgeous covers of your novels? They are just beautiful! I find that when I’m browsing the bookstore, a really pretty cover like yours is the thing that catches my eye first. Well done! Also, what is your kitty’s name? I have two of them and adore watching them play.
ReplyDeleteI love your novels and want to send you congratulations on all of your successes!

Just reading (for the second time) "An indecent proposition", I chanced upon "A most improper rumor".
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new book!

I had so much fun writing An Indecent Proposition! I thought it would be so naughty (it is a little) but then both heroes proved to have more substance than I ever imagined. Men are usually so predictable.
DeleteIn this case, they happily surprised me.
Great covers!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great story! It's now on my to read list. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review! The book looks really good!
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect - a historical romance with a mystery suspense!
ReplyDeleteWhat an intriguing premise for a book. It sounds interesting.

It is so lovely to be here!
ReplyDeleteWell, hmm. Historical romance with suspense? Like a match made in heaven for me. I admit I do like a good mystery with a love story. What could be better? My two favorite genres mixed together.
NAL suggested it and I fell over my feet to take them up on it.
Thanks so much for the wonderful comments. And Danni, I do love you for your patience...
Emma

The book sounds good. I love a good romantic suspense story.
ReplyDeleteHi Emma, I'm looking forward to some great reading.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any of Emma's books and this one sounds amazing! I can't wait to read it.
ReplyDeleteI have a question for Emma: What made you decide to write under a pseudonym for your suspense novels?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
mestith at gmail dot com
All along I never wanted readers to get a book in a genre they didn't want to read. Let's face it, suspense is NOT historical romance,so I opted to use a different penname.
DeleteDo you find it more difficult to write a naughty historical? lisagk(at)yahoo
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read this one!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!
I have some of Emma's earlier ebooks stored in my Kindle but I haven't taken the opportunity to read them yet. Really must do so soon. This latest book sounds like a story I would really enjoy reading. Thanks for the giveaway.
