Erin Kellison is the author of the dark fantasy romance Shadow, Shadow Touch, and Shadow Kissed series. Stories have always been a central part of Erin's life. She attempted her first book in sixth grade, a dark fantasy adventure, and she still has those early hand-written chapters. She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in English Language and Literature and went on for a masters in Cultural Anthropology, focusing on oral storytelling. When she had children, nothing scared her anymore, so her focus shifted to writing fiction.
Places to find Erin:
Okay, I admit it. I fall in love with heroes all the time. It’s an occupational hazard.
I started writing a top ten list of the men who have captured my attention…Barrons, anyone? Or the iconic Mr. Darcy (one of my first loves)? How to choose? It’s impossible. I went to my kindle library and scrolled through the covers debating, and finally rested (heh) on Charles Cornick from Patricia Briggs’s Alpha and Omega series.
I met Charles in the Mercy Thompson series. His appearance was brief and a little forgettable. He was being sent by his father to deal with a situation. Violence would be involved. When I saw that he was the hero of Alpha and Omega, I almost didn’t pick it up because I liked the Mercy Thompson characters so much. But I’m glad I did. I’ve gone back to him many times for a brief tryst.
Charles is a werewolf, filled with anger and always on the brink of violence. He is his father’s hit man. He does the ugly, bloody work. Anna, his love interest, though tough, has been through a lot of abuse. The amazing, soul-wrenching gentleness with which he treats her, all the while being Mr. Badass, won me over completely. He both puts her at ease and respects her own power. He’s such a full-bodied character (and what a body it is) that he inhabited my imagination fully.
I thank Danielle for inviting me to blog. This post gave me the perfect excuse for another clandestine rendezvous.
The first story Charles appears in with Anna is a must-read novella, Alpha and Omega. The story continues in Cry Wolf. I’m happy to give both away.
Anna Latham never knew werewolves existed, until the night she survived a violent attack and became one herself. After three years at the bottom of the Chicago pack, she's learned to keep her head down and never, ever trust dominant males. But when she discovers wrongdoing in her pack, she has to go above her Alpha's head to ask for help.
Charles Cornick is the son and enforcer of the leader of the North American werewolves. Now his father has sent him to Chicago to clean up a problem there. Charles never expected to find Anna, a rare Omega wolf and he certainly never expected to recognize her as his mate.

Anna never knew werewolves existed, until the night she survived a violent attack... and became one herself. After three years at the bottom of the pack, she'd learned to keep her head down and never, ever trust dominant males. Then Charles Cornick, the enforcer—and son—of the leader of the North American werewolves, came into her life.
Charles insists that not only is Anna his mate, but she is also a rare and valued Omega wolf. And it is Anna's inner strength and calming presence that will prove invaluable as she and Charles go on the hunt in search of a rogue werewolf—a creature bound in magic so dark that it could threaten all of the pack.

As one of the angelic Order, Jack Bastian has no use for a female like Kaye, as provocative and unexpected as her blazing beauty. Yet he has no choice but to hire her to uncover the secrets of his sworn enemy and her former fiance, Ferrol Grey.
War is inevitable between the defenders of the Order and the mage houses who threaten to engulf the world in Shadow. For Jack, mage-born Kaye is off limits, no matter how hot the impossible attraction between them. But in the coming darkness, beset by danger and desire, everything is about to change...

I love Charles. I am a huge Patricia Briggs fan and loved Charles from the start. Thanks for a great post and reminding me it's time to read about Charles and Anna again.
ReplyDeleteI truly enjoyed your Shadow series, especially Shadowman. I waited a LOOOONG time for his book. It was totally worth it. I look forward to your new series. I'm sure it will be wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI've read the Mercy Thompson series, as well as all of Erin's books :) and now must pick up Charles and Anna's books haha....thanks for the referral! My question for Erin is: When sitting down to write do you have any tricks on getting the stress and pressure of reality to take a backseat to your mind and creativity?
ReplyDeleteI have not read any of these books. Thanks for the introduction!
ReplyDeleteI read mostly romance & admit that I hope to fall in love with the hero everytime I read a new book. Reckon if I do the author must have a good job with the story :)
ReplyDeleteI've read & liked Patricia Briggs fantasy books but not her Mercy Thompson nor Alpha/Omega series. Thanks for the opportunity to win.
For some reason I couldn't connect with Charles , I wanted to love him but I guess he wasn't for me. Sad since I absolutely love werewolves. I loved Richard in Anita Blake novels before they went downhill and always on the lookout for my next best werewolf boyfriend ;)
ReplyDeleteyour book on the other hand sounds fantastic! love the cover :)
I have not read any of these books. Thanks for the introduction!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of these books, but now i really want to read about Charles! Thanks for sharing your book boyfriend!
ReplyDeleteErin your a new author to me. Thanks guys for the into.
ReplyDeleteErin when were you first published?
Okay, I've tried twice to reply to comments but they both went screwy!
ReplyDelete@sheryl - Charles took me by surprise. In a world of badass heroes, he really stood out for me.
@Sebella - I'm thrilled you enjoyed Shadowman! TY for starting my day off with a smile.
@Melissa - Clearing my brain to work is probably the most difficult part of sitting down to write. Stress and distractions are omnipresent. But I set daily word count goals, shut off the internet, and try to submerge in the fictional world, leaving all the rest behind.
@krg - Check out the novella and see what you think. :)
@Linda - I love falling in love with heroes too. It's part of the reason I started writing.
@Lily - I love the cover too! I got very lucky!
@laurie - I hope you have the chance to check them out!
@Casey - The novella is a good place to start. But it leaves you hanging, which is why I added to book!
@lorimeehan - I was first published in 2010 with Shadow Bound and Shadow Fall. Hope to be putting books out into the world for a long time to come. :)
I have to agree Charles from Alpha & Omega is yummy.
ReplyDeletethanks for this giveaway.
I've read the first few books in Patricia Brigg's series. They were different and enjoyable. I can see why the hero makes a great book boyfriend.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of these books, but I'd sure like to :)
ReplyDeleteBoth books look great!!! I love the rough and tumble love of an Alpha make;)
ReplyDeleteI love the Alpha & Omega series too! Charles is pretty awesome. I have been reading the graphic novels too :)
ReplyDeleteI never really connected with Charles. I am a Barrons girl through & through (but would happily settle with early Jean Claude(Anita Blake), Ethan Sullivan (Chicagoland Vampires), or Raphael (Vampire in America)...clearly I lean to the vampires.
ReplyDeleteI like Laurell K Hamilton's Merry Gentry series. Merry has quite a selection of men.
ReplyDeleteMore books I have not read! They sound really good. I love learning about all these books. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI adore A/O, even more than the Mercy Thompson series (although the latest book, Frost Burned, was pretty awesome). As a matter of fact, I just finished yet another reread of the A/O novella and of Cry Wolf.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of those, but they look good. I love darker romances and the one by Briggs seems a little darker. I love the Black Dagger Brotherhood which is quite a dark novel series.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!

Love your books Erin .Hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteCry Wolf was the first Patricia Briggs book that I read, and Charles is a great "boyfriend." I really liked his brother Samuel, too, getting to know him in the Mercy Thompson books. Speaking of which, Adam is a great "boyfriend," too!

Mr. Darcy can park his boots outside my door any day. I'm adding to my reading & loving all the boyfriends.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read these books, so thank you for the information. I tend to read a lot of contemporary and historical books with a few PRN thrown in.
ReplyDeletemore books to add to my TBR - really interesting choices that I'm paying attention to since they have made it to the top of the lists.
