I fell in love with my first book boyfriend, way back when I didn’t really know what a book boyfriend was. I was in grade five, had just discovered the Nancy Drew mystery series and I loved the fact that A) Nancy Drew had her own car and B) her boyfriend Ned, was delicious.

Since then I’ve had an amazing time reading many books with awesome heroes. And I have to say it’s kind of fun to write my own book boyfriends these days. When the lovely Danielle asked me to write this post, I thought it was a great idea and that it would be easy to pick a favorite.

Um, that would be wronged-wrong-wrong. It was hard. Really hard. There are so many wonderful books out there with characters I want to meet! After some thought I was able to narrow it down to two, and these guys are very different in some ways and very much the same in others.

Tied for my favorite book boyfriend, is Gabe Bonner from Dream a Little Dream, by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. This man is tortured, sexy as hell, strong, harsh, tender and he broke my heart. Susan did an amazing job at giving us a character with a painful past—a guy who’s not always nice or easy to be around—and she made me fall in love with him. I’ve said a few times that Gabe is the most tortured hero I’ve read and easily, he’s one I’ll remember years from now.

My second favorite book boyfriend is Jericho Barrons from Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series. Now this guy, has a lot of the same characteristics that Gabe has—he’s tortured and though it takes several books for us to find out why, you just know it’s something bad. Jericho is also an uber, alpha male and I love it. Of course, he needed a woman who could give as good as she got and Mac certainly did, which is why this couple worked so well together. Jericho could be irritating, annoying, passionate, strong and cold. He was also loyal and would do whatever it took to keep those who he loved safe.

Thanks for reading my post! I’ll award an ebook copy of Dream a Little Dream by Susan Elisabeth Phillips as well as an ebook copy of my latest release, The Summer He Came Home.

A Desperate Young Mother

Rachel Stone's bad luck has taken a turn for the worse. With an empty wallet, a car's that's spilling smoke, and a five-year-old son to support, she's come home to a town that hates her. But this determined young widow with a scandalous past has learned how to be a fighter. And she'll do anything to keep her child safe—even take on. . .

A man With No Heart

Gabe Bonner wants to be left alone, especially by the beautiful outcast who's invaded his property. She has a ton of attitude, a talent for trouble, and a child who brings back bad memories. Yet Rachel's feisty spirit might just be heaven-sent to save a tough, stubborn man.

Sometimes the best place to find love is right back where you started…

Falling asleep in a different bed every night has made it easy for Cain Black to forget his past. It’s been ten years since he packed his guitar and left Crystal Lake to chase his dreams. Now tragedy has forced him home again. And though Cain relishes the freedom of the road, one stolen moment with Maggie O’Rourke makes him wonder if he’s missing out on something bigger than fame.

For Maggie—single mother and newly settled in Crystal Lake—love is a luxury she just can’t afford. Sure, she appreciates the tall, dark and handsome looks of prodigal son Cain Black. But how long can she expect the notorious hellion to stay?

The last thing either of them wants is something complicated. But sometimes love has its own plans.

  9. Until this site, I wasn't familiar with Juliana, but I now have her on my list of "to read next" authors. I read a lot of paranormal as well as contemporary romance novels, but I don't believe I have encountered an author who writes both. I'm very interested to read her writing style!
