Guest Post with Author Lilliana Anderson and Giveaway

Please welcome author Lilliana Anderson who is celebrating the release of her book, Too Close.

Bestselling Author of the A Beautiful Series, Alter and the Confidante Trilogy, Lilliana has always loved to read and write, considering it the best form of escapism that the world has to offer.

Australian born and bred, she writes New Adult Romance revolving around her authentically Aussie characters as well as a biographical trilogy based on an ex-Sydney sex worker, named Angelien.

Lilliana feels that the world should see Australia for more than just it's outback and tries to show characters in more of a city setting.

When she isn't writing, she wears the hat of 'wife and mother' to her husband and four children.

Before Lilliana turned to writing, she worked in a variety of industries and studied humanities and communications before transferring to commerce/law at university.

Originally from Sydney's Western suburbs, she currently lives a fairly quiet life in suburban Melbourne.

I Come From the Land Down Under

That’s actually the title of a song, but it is true. I am an Aussie girl, through and through.

When I was writing up all the posts for this blog tour, I asked some of my readers – If you could ask me one question, what would it be?

Knowing that I live in Australia, one reader wanted to know about my experiences with kangaroos and koalas.

Almost every person living in Australia has come across both kangaroos and koalas before. Some of us are lucky enough to see them daily, and others have to go and visit the zoo for a chance to meet one.

In my books, I don’t feature the animals too often. It’s primarily because they are set in the suburbs or the city where you rarely see any wildlife aside from a possum or two and occasionally a fruit bat.

I’ve lived and visited a lot of Australia, so I’ve seen the animals in the wild as well as in captivity, but I thought I would talk about what happened when I moved down to Melbourne.

The first summer here was incredibly hot and dry. There was one particular Sunday, where it was so hot, that it felt as though someone was holding a hair dryer up to your face and blowing the hot wind at you.

That was the day bushfires started.

Australia is a very big country, but we all live in fairly tight clusters around our capital cities. From each big city, it probably takes around an hour to an hour and a half to drive far enough to hit bushland.

Just like people, when there are bushfires, the animals start to evacuate themselves, and this is when things get interesting in suburbia as we actually start to get kangaroos hopping down the street and koalas in the trees in our backyards.

The news was flooded with photographs of koalas bathing in dog bowls or being thirsty enough that they were willing to drink from a water bottle offered by hand.

People got in their cars, and drove around filming kangaroos hopping down the street. It was such an unusual sight for city dwellers that they just had to witness it first hand.

Here are a couple of photos I found from then. It was a devastating time for all those involved, but as with any tragedy, it also showed how willing and helpful complete strangers can be to those in need.

This koala was so thirsty, it accepted a drink from cyclists

This kangaroo made its way into the airport car park.

Before A Beautiful Struggle, Katrina and David's friendship was a bond that couldn't be broken.

Starting with that fated moment when David carried Katrina to the emergency room, we travel back through David's memories as he waits to hear that his best friend and the one woman he truly cares for is going to survive...

“I can’t lose her. You don’t understand how important she is to me,” I ramble. I guess I’m in shock because all I can think about is the sight of all that blood over Katrina’s beautiful face. “She’s my world. I can’t lose her.”

This is book one in the novella series 'The Beauty in Between' the companion series to Lilliana Anderson's best selling 'A Beautiful' series
