Huge thanks to Ramblings From This Chick for letting me stop by today to share my newest release, FREED: Club Sin. This book is special to me, because this was the first time I have ever written a couple in their fifties. To say it pushed me out of comfort zone is a huge understatement.
Typically, I write characters in their twenties and thirties, who are still finding themselves and settling into the life they want for themselves. So, believe me when I say writing FREED was quite different. But I knew the moment I wrote the first book in the Club Sin series, CLAIMED, that I really, really wanted to write Mary’s story. You see, she’s a minor character throughout the series, but she made a big impact on me whenever she was mentioned in the books.
I knew her story would be one of heartbreak and learning how to love again.
And I was right!
As all her pain was exposed and her past became clearer to me, I found myself captivated by her. I’m not quite sure why – maybe it’s because I imagined what Mary must have felt when her husband died, or maybe I even pictured myself in her place. But it simply made me think of something that I never thought much about. What would it be like if my husband died? Would I move on from him and find another lover? Or would I stay true to him?
I imagine I would probably act a lot like Mary did and be intensely loyal.
As I wrote FREED it didn’t take long to fall right into their story. The more I wrote, the more refreshing I found Elliott and Mary. Being mature characters, they have already experienced so much in their lives that it made a lot of the wishy washy things that younger characters go through vanish. And that made for a story that I just hadn’t written before – something new and different. They weren’t searching to find themselves. They already knew themselves inside and out.
For me, it soon became not about their age, but about their story. These two people had me hooked!
Of course, a romance wouldn’t be a romance without an eager hero who is determined to show the heroine that he is exactly what she needs in her life. While Elliott and Mary’s relationship had its up and downs between what Mary wanted in the present and the fight against her heart that still belonged to her deceased husband, once they made the decision to be together, they went for it. And that sure was simply fun – and HOT – to write.
Their story isn’t about drama we see in younger characters, it’s about heartbreak, healing, and learning how to love all over again.
So, while this isn’t the typical Club Sin book set within the dungeon that has our usual gang, I’m beyond excited to share Mary and Elliott’s story with you all – especially after feeling the pain she faced right alongside her from losing her husband. If anyone deserved a happily ever after, it’s Mary.
She’s a character I won’t forget any time soon, and I hope that you all connect with her like I did. Oh, and as for Elliott…well, I pictured George Clooney in mind the whole time I wrote the book. Add that to the fact that Elliott is well educated in BDSM, and I’m sure you can only imagine why I loved writing this book!
I hope you all enjoy it, too!
Perfect for fans of Fifty Shades of Grey, the Club Sin series continues with Freed, a wicked, wild novel from USA Today bestselling author Stacey Kennedy.
Mary Schmidt knows only too well how thrilling a Master’s touch can be. Her husband, Charles, had been her ultimate fantasy, a seducer in the erotic dance of dominance and submission. She misses the sensual lifestyle they shared, but mourns him so deeply she cannot bear to embrace her submissive needs with another Dom—until a man who exudes temptation reawakens desires she can no longer deny.
Elliott Foster is dazzled by Mary. He instantly knows that she’s the woman he’s been waiting for—a woman who turns games into need. As her Master, he dares to unlock the deepest pleasures of her flesh, releasing her from pain and healing her mind. When Mary’s lithe body comes to life under his, he knows their connection goes beyond sex. Now that he has found the perfect woman, the perfect partner, the perfect submissive, he desires only to give her everything she craves.

ReplyDeleteI think this one sounds like it might get me a bit teary-eyed, but I love the idea of exploring a widow getting past her husbands death and a mature couple for the romance.
