Sealed With a Kiss Event with Kelly Bowen

I was born and raised in Manitoba, Canada.  I attended the University of Manitoba where I earned a graduate degree in veterinary physiology and spent many years happily working as a research scientist in the agriculture industry.  None of which, of course, has anything to do with writing romance novels.  Currently, I live in Winnipeg with my husband and two boys who are wonderfully patient and supportive of the writing process.  Except, that is, when they need a goalie for street hockey.

Alexander Lavoie, rumored assassin and spy, owns the most exclusive gaming hell in London.  It's a perfect place to collect secrets, something that comes in very handy as a partner in Chegarre & Associates, a firm that specializes in handling and solving the most dire of scandals for those who can afford it. In London or abroad...

Angelique Archer, his wife, met Alex on the gaming floor of his club.  Angelique's extraordinary mathematical abilities, along with with her quick wits, have carved her out new responsibilities and adventures...

Check out Alex and Angelique's love story in Between the Devil and the Duke.

Their love was always in the cards...

He should have thrown her out. But when club owner Alexander Lavoie catches a mysterious blonde counting cards at his vingt-et-un table, he's more intrigued than angry. He has to see more of this beauty -  in his club, in his office, in his bed. But first he'll have to devise a proposition she can't turn down.

Gossip said he was an assassin. Common sense told her to stay away. But Angelique Archer was desperate, and Lavoie's club offered a surefire way to make quick money - until she got caught. Instead of throwing her out though, the devil offers her a deal: come work for him. Refusing him means facing starvation, but with a man so sinfully handsome and fiercely protective, keeping things professional might prove impossible . . .

  20. Hi Kelly, I am also a born-and-bred Manitoban. I am a fan of historical romance novels and I can't wait to check out Between the Devil and the Duke. I have a question for you: do you feel that growing up in Manitoba and living in Winnipeg has influenced the perspective you bring to your writing? If so, how? Thank you!

  22. Oh, the mores and morals that had to be followed in Regency times. And if ever one crossed the threshold, the consequences could be devastating to one's standing with the ton and one's character.

  31. Thank you for all the lovely comments! And for those of you who asked, there is definitely lots of research that goes into each novel - but it's certainly not specific for historical. If I were to write about firefighters, I'd need to do just as much! And as to being from Manitoba, there is nothing like a - 40 windchill to make you very happy you're writing inside where it's warm!
