Hello, everyone! Wow, I can’t believe Thanksgiving is almost here. 2017, where have you gone?!

This year, fall was on my brain long before it arrived, as I was busy weaving its down-home comforts into HER UNEXPECTED HERO, book three in my Checkerberry Inn series. And that was more than fine with me. Like Jennifer Hoopes, I love everything about fall—the scents, the changing colors of leaves, the dip in temperatures (hey, I’m all about layering up!) and the chance to snuggle close with loved ones in front of the fire.

In HERO, I’ve brought a Texan up to Michigan and then put him to work in the kitchen with one sassy chef in autumn. I enjoyed writing about the changing of seasons, but also about his reactions to her culinary creations. This comes from personal experience as I myself am much more a fan of eating than preparing the meals. LOL

Truthfully, if I was given the choice between cooking and baking, and I’d pick baking in a heartbeat. Give me a recipe to follow, and I’m set. Ask me to prepare an entrĂ©e with nothing more for instructions than “toss in a little of this and a little of that” and I’m like a deer in headlights.

While my characters are master chefs, I am most certainly not. But I certainly appreciate their hard work as the fruits of their labor sure taste divine. So, in honor of the biggest cooking holiday of the year, I’ll leave you with one of my favorite Thanksgiving recipes. Hope you enjoy it:

How about you? Are you a master chef, or a master at making the food disappear? Or maybe a bit of both?

Maddie Frye, the Checkerberry Inn’s snarky, introverted chef, just wants to be left alone. But with the inn’s upcoming gala, Maddie’s boss has matchmaking on the brain. So when the gorgeous new guy in town helps her out for a night, she comes up with the perfect solution to her problem…

Cole Granville is looking for a fresh start. When a part-time job opens in the Checkerberry’s kitchen, he takes it without a second thought. The only catch? He’s got to help his sexy new coworker snag a date for an upcoming dance. But as he coaches Maddie on attracting her crush, Cole realizes he’s the one falling for the curvy brunette.

  1. I would not classify myself as a master, but I can do both. There are a few items of cooking or baking that I am a master of, but not everything.

  5. I'm a little bit of both. It is just nice when the grandchildren gives me a thumbs up for supper, like tonight. I will say that some recipes should never be tried.
