Interview with Author Nina Rowan and Giveaway

I would like to welcome author Nina Rowan to RFTC. Nina is celebrating the release of her newest book, A Passion for Pleasure and has stopped by to answer a few questions. Please give Nina a warm welcome.

Originally from California, Nina Rowan holds a PhD in Art History from McGill University, Montreal, with a specialization in 19th century French and Russian art. She began writing when she was an undergraduate at UCLA and lived a dual life as a student and a pseudonymous erotica author. She has studied Indian and Southeast Asian art and film, worked as a curatorial assistant at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and traveled in India and Europe.

A librarian-at-heart, she also holds an MA in Library and Information Sciences, a course of study that renewed a deep-seated interest in folklore and fairy tales. In addition to being an eternal student, or likely because of it, Nina possesses an abiding love for research that involves dusty, old books. She also thinks popcorn should be one of the four food groups. She lives in Wisconsin with her atmospheric scientist husband and two children.

Places to find Nina:

A la Twitter style, please describe your book in 140 characters or less.
Sexy, tormented musician and a lovely woman with a desperate goal. What happens when a hot attraction meets a marriage of convenience?

What types of scenes are your most favorite to write?
I love writing love scenes! Anything from a heated kiss to a sweeping cascade into a hours-long love-making session, I think those scenes are both fun and challenging. I especially like how love scenes can enhance emotions, whether it’s restraint or the couple’s control finally snapping.

If you could have dinner with any three authors (alive or dead), who would you choose and why?
Great question! First would have to be Betty Smith, who wrote A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, which is one of my all-time favorite books. Then Laura Ingalls Wilder because the Little House books have always been an intrinsic part of my life. Last would be L.M. Montgomery of Anne of Green Gables fame. Those three authors created some of the most memorable heroines ever, and I would love to sit down and ask them about the processes of writing the books and how they developed such amazing characters. There is a reason those childhood favorites have stuck with me all these years!

Last question, are you working on anything right now?
Yes! I am working on A DREAM OF DESIRE, which is the third book in the Daring Hearts trilogy and centers on Talia Hall, the only daughter of the Earl and Countess of Rushton. Talia has been damaged by the recent family scandal, but in her determination to start a new life, she finally confesses her love for her childhood friend, James Forester, Baron Castleford. But James is determined to stop Talia from her dangerous work with teenage delinquents, so they clash in a battle of both wills and hearts.

Prelude to a Kiss

A brilliant pianist and notorious rake, Sebastian Hall indulges his passion for music and women with equal aplomb. But now that his elder brother has married, his father insists he pursue a more respectable path and find a suitable wife.

Music to Her Ears

As a girl, Clara Whitmore quietly loved her piano teacher from afar. Yet her youthful crush cannot compare to the powerful desire she feels when she unexpectedly meets Sebastian again. Perhaps the man who once dominated her dreams could be the husband she has hoped for—and save her from the fate she most fears.

Love Strikes a Chord

Risking scandal, ruin, and their own reputations, Sebastian and Clara enter into a marriage of convenience. But the pair soon discovers that their undeniable attraction is anything but convenient. Swept up in a crescendo of desire, Sebastian and Clara take each other to new heights of ecstasy—until secrets from the past threaten to doom the duet forever. Now Sebastian will have to change his tune—and prove his love is true.

  4. I am dying to know what the "secret from the past" could possibly be, and what young girl hasn't secretly loved a teacher from afar. The blurb reads like a wish list for things I would include in my own book. Great interview.
