Meet Robin Covington, author of Sex & the Single Vamp.
Robin Covington, who NYT Best Selling authors, Robyn Carr and Carly Phillips, said was their new “auto-buy author”, writes sizzling hot contemporary and paranormal romance.
A Night of Southern Comfort, her best-selling debut novel was nominated for the Rt Book Reviewers Choice Awards for Small Press and was touted by RT Book Reviews as bringing a “fresh, modern feel to the genre while still sticking to the things that get our adrenaline pumping — sex and danger”. Robin lives in Maryland with her hilarious husband, brilliant children, and ginormous puppy.
Places to find Robin:
First off, can you tell us a bit about you?
I’m really boring. A wife of almost twenty years to a great guy and I have two kids (11 and 9). I have an evil day job as an attorney for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps (Beat Army!) and I write in the evenings, weekends, and on my lunch hour. I am a huge fan of Supernatural, Grimm and The Walking Dead (Team Daryl all the way!) and my favorite candy is Haribo Gummi Bears.
A la Twitter style, please describe your book (or series) in 140 characters or less.
200 years of emotional and sexual blue balls comes to a very sexy, dangerous conclusion.
LOL!
What types of scenes are your most favorite to write?
Sex scenes. I love writing them. I think that as an author, I have the best opportunity to make my characters vulnerable during the smexy times and you can get to see what they are really like down deep. That is the most fun of this writing job.
What are the things that influence you the most as a writer?
TV, movies. I eavesdrop a lot when I am in public and those conversations really inspire me. But music is the most effective tool to get me into the story. I sing in a band and I’m very musical, so lyrics and a melody can take me “there” so fast!
What are some of your favorite characteristics to find in a hero?
A sense of inner honor. They might not march to same beat as everyone else but if they stick to their own code – that is sexy to me. I also like a hero who can laugh at himself. Anyone who takes himself too seriously is a turn off for me.
Tell me, is there anything that we would be surprised to learn about you?
I am addicted to BBC murder mysteries like Midsomer Murders, Inspector Lynley, Inspector Morse. They are a bit cozy and predictable but I can watch them for hours on Netflix.
Oh – and I get a headache behind my left eye when it is going to rain or snow. My husband thinks that I’m crazy but I am never wrong!
If you could live inside any book, which one would you choose and why?
Hmmm. That is such a hard question! If I had to choose, I would pick to live in the world of Suzanne Brockman’s Troubleshooters series. Yeah, they get shot at a lot but they men are soooo delicious!
If you could spend the day in the shoes of any of your characters, who would you choose and why?
This always changes with the book I’m writing but I would love to be Deacon or Cici – theylive forever! They’ve seen so much stuff over the centuries and to know what they know would be amazing.
If you were stranded on a desert island and could bring only three items, what would you bring and why?
My hubby and kids (that counts as one, right?) my iPod (gotta have my music) and five-star resort (you said anything!)
Last question, are you working on anything right now?
Yes, I am working on a book that will be out in August for the Indulgence line at Entangled called, I WANT YOU. It is the third in a trilogy surrounding a celebrity wedding. My hero is the drummer in hugely successful rock band and the heroine is a celebrity entertainment reporter.
Cici Trent, vampire and media darling, spends her days finding true love for humans and supernaturals (the “Others”) at her dating agency. But someone is trying to sabotage her business and she needs help. Unfortunately, the best man for the job is the one who broke her still beating heart two hundred fifty-four years ago.
Deacon is a patient vampire. He’s only loved one woman in over three hundred years— CiCi— and she chose another. So when she shows up in his office asking for help, he finally has the chance to lay that demon to rest. He’ll help her, but for a price—a night in his bed.
Adrenaline, mischief, and a little late-night B&E light the passion that even a couple of lifetimes couldn't put out. But Deacon has a secret and when Cici is suddenly mortal, his deception might be the only way restore her immortality. Can love bridge the gap between a heartbeat and forever?
