Guest Post with Heather Lyons and Giveaway

Heather Lyons has always had a thing for words—She’s been writing stories since she was a kid. In addition to writing, she’s also been an archaeologist and a teacher. Heather is a rabid music fan, as evidenced by her (mostly) music-centric blog, and she’s married to an even larger music snob. They’re happily raising three kids who are mini music fiends who love to read and be read to.

I love to write about love.

No, seriously. It’s true—and I equally love to read about love as I do write it.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve gravitated toward romance. My friends and I, in elementary school, devoured the Sweet Valley High books and delighted in dishing on who Elizabeth and Jessica were crushing on. In middle school, we transitioned to straight up romance books, especially the bodice rippers. We passed those puppies around, gossiping and giggling about how swoony the guys were, how romantic the settings were, and how much we wished we could time travel. In high school, we kept on reading these love stories, sometimes branching out to contemporaries. And in college, when I tired of reading for class, I’d relax with a romance that would keep me glued to the pages long into the night.

So when I sat down to write my first book, the only thing that would come out of me was romance. Romance to me is all about enjoying what you read. It’s not meant to make you feel like you have to finish the book. It’s not going to teach you about the inner workings of the universe . . . but it does help you imagine the inner workings of hearts and relationship. Romance is escape, and fluttery, happy feelings (or tears—let’s face it, there are tears, too), and sighing and gossiping with your friends why you have to read a book and fall in love with a new book boyfriend.

I love to write about love. It’s as easy as that.

It all comes down to this . . .

Chloe Lilywhite has struggled for years to find her footing in a series of dangerous and demanding worlds. Creator, first tier Council member, and one of the most powerful Magicals in existence, she was little more than one of Fate’s pawns. But now, Chloe is back home and ready to call the shots. She knows what she wants and who she wants to be.

Except the Elders never got the memo.

Annar and Magical-kind are under attack. The lives of Chloe’s loved ones, and life as they know it, are at stake. Chloe's the key to taking the Elders down, but they won't go quietly into the night.

This time, neither will Chloe.

  1. I look at all the options, and no matter what I stick with the final decision. No regrets. Make a decision and live with it.

  2. I'd most likely over analyze the situation, then once i've made my decision, think it over one more time to make sure I made the right one.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  4. I think we truly know the answer to our dilemma way deep inside, we just denied it to ourselves... Once I open up to that answer, as much as it hurts, I accept it and go from there.
