Meet Claudia Connor, author of Worth the Fight.
Claudia Connor attended Auburn University, where she received her undergraduate and masters degrees in early childhood education, and completed her studies in Sawbridgeworth, England. Always a lover of happy endings, she enjoys movies, reading, and spending her days putting on paper the stories in her head. She lives near Memphis, Tennessee, with her husband and three daughters.

Yep. My hero is hot. So, sue me.
Check out that cover! Yes, that’s Matt McKinney. And yes, he’s HOT. He’s a Navy SEAL and he also plays football with little boys and let’s little girls put sparkly clips in his hair. Oh, and he loves babies. *sigh*
I have three daughters who play competitive sports so I spend quite a bit of time with dads at games and on the road. Lately, my upcoming book has been the hot topic. When’s it coming out? What’s it about? And then of course...Let’s see the cover.
Oh, boy. I already know how this is going to go.
“You women.”
“You didn’t want to use me?”
Or if my husband’s there, they give him a commiserating look and he just shakes his head like what are you gonna do?
That’s when I say, “I’ve got two words for you, bud. Bond Girl.”
That either shuts them up or starts a heated debate over who was the better Bond Girl, Olga Kurylenko or Caterina Murino, and by better they mean hotter. They rattle off names and movie titles like SEC football stats. I raise my eyebrow, they shrug. Point made.
Do heroes have to be hot? No, not necessarily, beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all but, to all the men out there pondering this question and thinking we’re shallow and slutty, let’s be honest. You know you don’t subscribe to Sports Illustrated for the articles. And there’s a reason they chose Jessica Alba for the lead in Dark Angel. I have a bit of a girl crush on her myself so, I’m not judging.
But there’s a lot more to our hunky heroes than the cover of a magazine. Our heroes, the good ones, are a lot deeper than Bond Girls. They have faults, because contrary to popular belief, we don’t like perfect men. We like a problematic, sometimes cocky sometimes broken man. And why do we read about it? What makes us turn the page? It’s watching that man fall for a woman so hard it brings him to his knees. Torments him, squeezes his heart, and ties him up tighter than he’s ever been before. Yes, we’re evil that way.
We like to watch a strong man who’s been feigned over his entire life fall in love. Why? Because it’s ROMANTIC people! That’s why they call it romance!
And that’s exactly what happens in Worth The Fall. Strong man, badass skills, who’s brought to his knees by love. Not mention he lets a tiny girl decorate his hair and tells anyone who laughs to f#^% off.
Now most of the men I come in contact with are good natured and just kidding. Me too. Mostly. But if you ever come across a man who looks at the book in your hand and isn’t kidding, just say, “Bond Girl.” Shuts them up every time.
Prepare to be swept away by a talented debut author with a passionate, powerful story to tell.
They meet on a beach. . . . Abby Davis isn’t wearing a skimpy bikini or sipping umbrella drinks, not when she’s busy chasing around four little ones. And Matt McKinney isn’t looking for fun—he’s a Navy SEAL, a grown man with a long list of missions . . . and fallen brothers.
They only have a week. . . . Abby has brought her children to this beach to start over, to give them the enjoyable memories they deserve. Matt’s been sidelined by a combat injury, and haunted by the best friend he lost and the promise he made: to remain a SEAL—focused and dedicated. This leaves no time for what he’s always wanted: a family.
But a week is all it takes. . . . Matt opens her heart while Abby soothes his soul. And though they plan to say good-bye when the week is over, something magical happens on that beach, something neither can forget. Something utterly, completely worth falling for.
