ARC Review: Until Cobi by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Reading Mayson family books is always a bit like coming home. Aurora Rose Reynolds has done a great job of creating this world that you feel a part of, as if they were your own family. Until Cobi was no exception and I loved it from start to finish! This book is a standalone story, but I do recommend reading at least Until Harmony for full enjoyment though it isn’t necessary.

In true Mayson fashion, Cobi knows exactly what Hadley is to him the moment he meets her. But convincing her that they are meant to be together will take some work on his part. After everything Hadley has been through, she tries to push Cobi away. But Cobi isn’t about to let her throw away all that could be between them and the more they are around each other, Hadley finally begins to realize that Cobi could be it for her. When a new threat comes along that they never saw coming changes everything, they quickly realize that they will have to fight for their happily ever after.

I loved Cobi and Hadley. They were sweet and sexy together. I really enjoyed seeing Cobi bring out all the hidden sides to Hadley and showing her just how great she was. I don’t blame her for feeling the way she did often times due to her upbringing, which just made me love Cobi that much more for seeing it and breaking through to her. These two were perfect together and I couldn’t get enough!

Overall, another great ARR read! I am not much for insta-love, but Aurora Rose Reynolds with her hot alphas and the BOOM are always the exception. The feelings might develop quick with her characters, but they always feel real and genuine and the connections are so strong! That was definitely the case here with Cobi and Hadley! I loved them and getting to see some familiar faces as well as some new ones. Can’t wait for more from her and this amazing family that I never want to let go of! Highly recommend this one, especially if you are already a fan of the Mayson clan!

ARC Review: Stumbling Into Love by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Stumbling Into Love is the second book in the Fluke My Life series by Aurora Rose Reynolds. Not only do I love ARR, but I absolutely love this series and world she has created! I couldn't wait to read this one after I read Running Into Love, and Stumbling Into Love definitely didn't disappoint. I highly recommend this series and I think readers will love these books just as much as I do. Each book is connected, but you can read them as standalones.

This is Mackenzie and Wesley's story. Mackenzie has been after her friend who just sees her as one of the guys, until she gets dressed up and meets a handsome man at a bar one night and decides to spend a night being anything but herself. Wesley wants to know more about Mackenzie after one night together, but she runs at every turn and he finds himself unable to forget her even though he should move on. So when they soon realize that they have a connection neither one expected, Wesley becomes more determined than ever to win her over and unravel the mystery that she is.

I loved these two! From the very first moment they met, I knew they were perfect for one another and I couldn't get enough of them. I found them easy to relate to and root for, and I was invested in their story from the very start. Mackenzie was a heroine that I adored and felt close to, she felt so real and genuine. Wesley was sweet and persistent and I loved him for never giving up on Mackenzie when he definitely had reason to at times. They were sweet and sexy, and meant for each other.

Overall, I enjoyed this book so much and I definitely recommend this series to readers, especially if you love contemporary romance. Aurora Rose Reynolds has a way of writing interesting characters that you can relate to and can't get enough of, and that is definitely true for this series. I can't wait for more from her and I am already anxious for whatever she writes next.

ARC Review: Running Into Love by Aurora Rose Reynolds

I am a huge fan of Aurora Rose Reynolds. I know her alphas and insta-love (the BOOM) stories aren't for everyone, but I typically love them and I don't even read her blurbs anymore. If it has her name on it, I just add it to my TBR. I almost just take it for granted that I will love her books, but I haven't been disappointed yet. Running Into Love was no exception, and I thought it was super cute and I just had a great time reading it!

After having bad luck with men, Fawn Reed has decided that she will avoid men. But when she runs into Levi Fremont, everything changes. Things don't get off on the right foot for them, and next thing they both know Levi is moving into the apartment across from Fawn. As the two run into each other more and start spending time together though, things quickly change for them and their feelings start to become more than attraction.

I absolutely loved these two. They were so adorable, and their story just made me feel good and enjoy what I was reading. I was invested in them right away, with both characters being likable and easy to relate to. They were sweet and caring and fit together well. Levi was alpha and protective, but not in a jerk kind of way. He really cared about Fawn and he had me swooning the whole way through. Fawn was the type of heroine that is great to read about and makes you want to be friends with her in real life. I just loved them both and the chemistry and connection between them was undeniable and special.

Overall, this book was really great and one of my favorites from ARR to date. I think contemporary readers looking for a great all around romance will really enjoy this one. It was sweet and sexy, and a really cute story. Definitely one I recommend, and I can't wait to read more in this series! There were so many characters here that I loved, and I am really excited to get more of them!

ARC Review: Falling Fast by Aurora Rose Reynolds

I have been a fan of Aurora Rose Reynolds since I first read a book by her. While I am not usually a fan of insta-love, for some reason when it comes to her books and the BOOM it just works for me. So I couldn't wait to read Falling Fast from her, because it sounded so good and she has yet to disappoint me. That was definitely the case here and I really enjoyed this story.

When Gia Caro learns that her grandmother is still alive and not dead like she was told years before, she drops everything to head to her small town and take care of her. Needing to find a job to help out, she gets a job at a local bar where she meets Colton Allyster. Both Colton and Gia find themselves living a life they never planned for themselves, but after meeting each other they know they are exactly where they should be. But when things start to get worse with Gia's grandmother and things start happening to Gia, it seems like someone is out to get her. Is what they have between them forever though, especially when it seems like everything is happening too fast?

I really liked Colton and Gia. Gia was sweet and caring, and I loved how real she was. She was accident prone and a hard worker, not afraid to get her hands dirty and do what needed to be done. She was easy to relate to and a heroine that you wanted to root for. Colton was sexy and alpha, yet sweet and caring. He was protective, but not a jerk about it. He was a genuinely good guy who had some bad stuff happen to him, and because of that he was a bit vulnerable. I loved that we got to see different sides to him, and that these two were so perfect for one another. They each had a lot they were dealing with, but they helped one another out so much and seeing that growth and change with each of them was fun to watch. They had off the charts chemistry and a connection that was strong and clear right from the start.

Overall, this was another great story from ARR. I loved it and the characters and didn't want to put it down once I had started. I liked that while Colton was alpha and protective (as is common for ARR's heroes) I will say that things were a bit predictable at times, but honestly that didn't stop me from enjoying this book. I had a few things figured out though, and I would have liked to have been a bit more surprised. Still a great story though, and I honestly can't wait to get Tide's book next! If you are a fan of Aurora Rose Reynolds, you will definitely want to check this one out. If you are new to her though, this is a great book to start with and you will want to go back and read more from her.

ARC Review: Until Ashlyn by Aurora Rose Reynolds

I have read every book in the original "Until" series and I generally liked the whole series.  I think this is the second or third book in the second generation of Maysons but this is my first book about the Mayson kids. I really wanted to like this book and I could have. Reynolds is one of the first authors that introduced me to the insta-love genre and made me love it. I have loved most of Reynolds' bossy, over the top, instantly in love men and their women. I thought this book would be a shoe in on my favorite list. I'm going to say this to any potential readers, if you haven't read any other books by Reynolds' this might actually be ok for you. I think if you have read other Reynolds' books, this might leave you feeling cheated.

As I was reading this book I got bits and pieces of deja vu here and there. The reason I kept getting the feeling I had been here before is because I have. This book seemed to me like Reynolds cut out pieces of her other books and pasted them all together in semi coherent order and called this something "new." I was extremely disappointed by what I felt like was just a total lack of effort by the author to create anything in the plot or characters that we have not seen almost verbatim in her other books.

To make a bad situation worse, Ashlyn really got on my nerves. Her attitude towards Dillon was all over the place and it was giving me whiplash...like in a bad way. And then Dillon...ok, this is a very slight spoiler so skip this next sentence if you don't want even a hint of the plot. Dillon was a virgin who happened to be able to bang like a porn star. UM WHAT? First of all, he was a fully grown man, I assume. Second, how are two members of the V club screwing each other porn hub style the first time out of the gate? I have no idea why of all the things Reynolds could have originated in this story, she chose that as the one unique aspect of this plot. I thought it was ridiculous twist and it just added to my overall annoyance with this book.

I read some other reviews of this book because I wanted to see what other people were saying. I saw a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews. I don't know guys, there might be something I'm missing.  But I'm really missing it because I can't see this being over 3 stars even if you've read no other books by this author. Good luck to you with this one.

ARC Review: Wide Open Spaces by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Wide Open Spaces is the second book in the Shooting Stars Series by Aurora Rose Reynolds. While I have read and enjoyed books by Aurora Rose Reynolds before, I hadn't read the first book in this series before starting this book. I can't wait to go back and read it after reading this story though.

After making the most difficult decision of her life, Shelby left her Alaskan hometown with no plans to return. She was left feeling empty and alone, but she found a way to go on with her life. Now fifteen years later, Shelby returns home with her ten year old son after losing her grandfather and a painful divorce. She knew she would run into her childhood love Zach Watters again with how small the town is, but she never expected that he would be single and not willing to let her go for a second time.

I really liked these two. They had such a strong connection and chemistry that had never gone away despite all that had happened. Their love was never the problem for them, and it was so clear to see that what these two shared was unique and special. They had some really tough decisions that they had to make at a young age, and they both were left to deal with the fallout of those decisions. My heart broke for them, even though they had done what was best for them. I was so glad to see that they were able to reconnect though, and I really felt like Shelby and Zach belonged together. Everything that happened was for a reason, and while it was heartbreaking at times it really felt like these two needed to go through everything that they did to end up exactly where they should.

Overall, this was a really great story. I enjoyed it a lot and once I started it, I couldn't put it down. Zach and Shelby were great characters, and I felt so invested in their story from start to finish. I think that fans of Aurora Rose Reynolds will really enjoy this book, and those that have yet to read her books will love it as well. It is beautiful, emotional, and a captivating story that you can't help but lose yourself in. I highly recommend this one, especially if you love second chance romance stories.

ARC Review: Until June by Aurora Rose Reynolds

I am a huge fan of Aurora Rose Reynolds, so I couldn't wait to read Until June. This book is a standalone, but if you are a fan of her Until series you will recognize some familiar faces as that series is connected to the Until Her and Until Him series. This book was a bit different than ARR's other books that I have read as it was a second chance romance. I am a huge fan of the BOOM with her, but it was nice to see her do something else as well and I really liked this book.

June Mayson and Evan Barrister had a whirlwind romance that ended in them getting married. They didn't tell anyone that they knew, and planned to share their relationship when he returned from his deployment. But instead of Evan returning to June, she was served with divorce papers and left with a broken heart. So when she moves, the last thing she expects is to run into Evan. Though Evan believed he wasn't good enough for June, he is determined to win her back. But can June forgive him and let go of all the pain he caused her and give him another chance?

I liked June and Evan a lot. It was clear right away that these two had so much love between them and that it had never gone away. I really felt for both of them, and for completely different reasons. I hated that June had been hurt, and what was worse is that she didn't even get the closure she should have had because Evan didn't end their relationship himself. But I also really felt for Evan because he truly believed that he wasn't good enough for her and that broke my heart. Their connection and chemistry was so strong that I knew they had to find a way back to one another. These two were the perfect match, and I couldn't imagine them not being together.

I will say though that this book felt a little anti-climactic. There were several things that I think could have brought more conflict, but they all sort of resolved themselves and just worked out without much happening. I kept waiting for the big conflict and it just never really happened. I also felt (and I can't believe I am saying this!) that at times there was just too much sex. I am all for steamy books, but unfortunately things got a bit redundant here and it felt like that was all that was happening and it was all the same. I found myself skimming the sex scenes to get back to the dialogue to see what would happen next. I did really love these two together though, and it was great to see familiar faces. If you are a fan of ARR's you will enjoy this one, and if you are new to her books this is one that is worth the read. I do think that these are best if read in order though, starting with the Until series and then reading Until Jax and Until July. You do get some insight and backstory on these characters that I think makes this book even more enjoyable though it isn't necessary. I am already anxious for the next installments in each of the Until Him and Until Her series from Aurora Rose Reynolds and I highly recommend her books.

ARC Review: Until Jax by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Until Jax is said to be the first book in the Until Him series from Aurora Rose Reynolds. While this one is supposed to be a standalone, I would recommend reading the first book in the Until Her series (Until July) before reading this one. I am not sure exactly what the deal is here since the characters are all interconnected and Until Jax picks up right after the end of Until July. It was a bit confusing since they are technically shown to be from a different series. Until Jax and Until July are both spin-offs of the Until series, and feature the children of those characters. These books can be read without having read the Until series, but I would still recommend reading Until July before starting Until Jax.

Ellie Anthony wasn't looking for a relationship, but when she meets Jax Mayson everything changes. Jax knows from the moment that he meets Ellie that he will do whatever it takes to protect her and her daughter Hope. Ellie knows that the feelings she is developing for Jax are happening really fast, and she has more than just herself to think about. However Jax is determined to show her that he loves her and Hope and wants them to be his family forever. But Ellie and Jax both have things from their pasts that they will have to face in order to find a way to be together.

I really loved Jax and Ellie here. It was so clear that these two had a connection right away. But I loved that Hope was also such a huge part of that. Jax was sweet and protective, and seeing him with his girls was absolutely adorable. Hope had him wrapped around her finger, and they were so cute together. Ellie was great with him as well, and I really loved their chemistry. Ellie was so strong and the fact that she took care of Hope at such a young age was so admirable. She always put her little girl first, and I loved that they had such a great bond. Seeing that they had a similar relationship to the one that Jax had with his mom, it really made it that much sweeter. Family is what we choose to make it, and it just goes to show that love is what means family, not always blood.

The one thing that is common with these books from Aurora Rose Reynolds is the fact that they each center around insta-love, or what she calls the BOOM. Since that is known beforehand, I never let it bother me. But if that is something that drives you crazy, just be aware of that before starting. The connections all feel so real and natural though that I don't even really notice it. The other thing I will say here though is that I would keep in mind the issue about this one being a standalone. You can read this one as a standalone if you are willing to stick with the story, as things are eventually explained. But the beginning is very confusing if you haven't read Until July, and it definitely feels like you are being thrown into the middle of a story already in progress. That is why I really recommend reading that book before this one. I had read Until July before reading Until Jax, and even I had to go back and read the last bit of Until July to refresh myself on the situation as it had been so long and I couldn't remember what had happened. I was confused and felt like I had missed a few chapters of the story here, but once I read the end of Until July it all came back to me. I think that these books are good stories and are definitely worth the read though. I will definitely read more from Aurora Rose Reynolds in the future, and I am really looking forward to getting more of the secondary characters and the stories that were set up here, especially Sage and Kim's.

ARC Review: Until July by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Until July is the first book in the Until Her series by Aurora Rose Reynolds. This series is a next generation spin-off from her Until series, and features the children of the Until series characters. I hadn't read the Until series before reading Until July, and I didn't have any problems reading this book as a standalone. I think that fans of the Until series will enjoy seeing familiar faces and getting to know the kids better, but it isn't necessary to have read those books before this one. While I liked this book, I did have some issues with it. Until July left me with mixed feelings, but I did enjoy it.

July Mayson and Wes Silver never expected for their first encounter to lead them to more. It wasn't exactly a fairy-tale beginning when July almost ran him off the road on her motorcycle and then tased him. But they both felt a connection and couldn't forget the other. But their disastrous beginning leads to them wanting to see where things go. As they begin to get to know each other better, they find themselves facing more obstacles than they ever expected. Though things between them don't seem to ever go smoothly, they can't help but feel more for each other than they have ever felt before. But can they get through everything together, or will they eventually be torn apart with everything they have to face?

Ok so my biggest issues in this story were sadly with the characters. I like a hot and sexy alpha as much as the next girl, but there is a fine line between commanding and a total jerk. Wes had his moments with both. At times he was super protective of July and it was really hot how he wanted to claim and possess her. Then other times he was just flat out rude and a complete jerk. I was so torn with how I felt about him, but for the most part he was just really passionate about July and I understood that. I didn't like when he went overboard, but it wasn't constant. July annoyed me at times, and did some really stupid things. I wanted to shake her on more than one occasion and found myself rolling my eyes at her several times. But she also had her great moments, and I really liked her with Wes. I felt like these two really did have a connection though and there was a lot of chemistry between them.

My other big issue with this book was how rapidly everything happened. To say that this was a case of insta-love is an understatement. These two went from strangers to a horrible date, and almost immediately to in love with each other. It was ever referenced in the book several times how quickly things moved for these two, and I found it completely unbelievable. I really wish that we had been able to see these two really fall in love with each other, but it was just so rushed and happened so fast that we really missed seeing that happen. I would have loved to see more of these two getting to know one another and how they merged their worlds together as their relationship strengthened, but I honestly felt like when it came to these two being together it was just too easy. They had drama and obstacles don't get me wrong, but at the same time things were always smoothed over relatively easy and July pretty much just went along with whatever Wes did without putting up much of a fight. I did like that most of the issues for these two were outside their relationship, but I also thought that some of it was just not real because of how much of a non-issue these huge life changes were made out to be. I liked these two together, and I did like a lot of the secondary characters. Despite my issues with this book, I did find it entertaining and I will read more from Aurora Rose Reynolds in the future. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series about July's cousin Jax.

Review: Obligation by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Obligation is the second book in ARR’s “Underground Kings” series and I would venture to say that this is Reynolds at her best. “Reynolds at her best” means a dominant alpha male, insta love, beautiful heroine with a little bit of a bite and a reasonably entertaining story. It’s got everything most of the ARR faithful love about Reynolds’ writing and omits some of the issues that made me wish I had a V8 instead of reading Assumption (the first book in the “Underground Kings” series).

ARR is good at building mystery and suspense into her stories and Obligation is no exception. Obligation is the story of Myla and Kai. Myla and Kai meet at a young age, there’s instant…well something, and years later when Myla is in trouble, Kai sweeps in and marries her to keep her safe. I don’t think I’m spoiling anything if I tell you that the “fake” marriage quickly turns into a real…something. Honestly, I’m not at all clear on why Kai needed to marry Myla to protect her. I promise I read the whole book and I still don’t get the marriage thing but I do not care. I love Myla and Kai together and if he needed to turn into a leprechaun and grant her three wishes so this story could happen, that would be fine with me.

Myla is the kind of heroine that you can root for or at least not hate. Myla is depicted as being reasonably intelligent and emotionally stable. She comes to rely on Kai and need him without being needy or weak. Kai is our favorite flavor of alpha male. He is brooding, possessive and focused on Myla (of course he is also well endowed because who wants an alpha male with an average package? Right, nobody.). Kai and Myla experience the typical sort of conflict that arises when you have male heroes who think communication consists of nothing more than telling people what to do. There is also conflict external to the relationship surrounding the mystery of why Myla is in danger that keeps the story moving forward. The sex scenes are steamy and will satisfy your craving for stuff that everyone would need a lot of rest and vitamins to accomplish on a daily basis.

My criticisms of this book are that first, ARR needs to immediately discontinue referring to her characters eyes and faces as “going soft.” Language diversity is what makes writing interesting. Nobody wants to read your one pet phrase 60 times in a book that’s less than 300 pages. Second, everything was kind of murky. Like, I don’t really know know what Kai did or how he was involved in it or how he had the capacity to be a stone cold killer. There is similarly almost no information on Myla’s life pre-Kai. For example, there are no references to Myla having contact with a single friend after she is with Kai. Maybe she didn’t have any friends, I don’t know because it isn’t clear. Last, I don’t understand the “resolution” of the main conflict in the story. I think the end of the main conflict was left open to make room for the next installment in the series. Again, it’s just not clear and so it could feel a little anticlimactic.

If I had to sum up this reading experience I would say that this is a light weight, entertaining read with an enjoyable romance. It’s got enough action and suspense to add a little flavor to the romance but not enough depth that you’ll be able to mentally distinguish it from several other books after a couple of months. I certainly recommend reading it especially for those of you who are already in the ARR fan club.
