Feature and Giveaway: Just One of the Groomsmen by Cindi Madsen

Addison Murphy is the funny friend, the girl you grab a beer with—the girl voted most likely to start her own sweatshirt line. And now that one of her best guy friends is getting married, she’ll add “groomsman” to that list, too. She’ll get through this wedding if it’s the last thing she does. Just don’t ask her to dive for any bouquet.

When Tucker Crawford returns to his small hometown, he expects to see the same old people, feel comfort in the same old things. He certainly doesn’t expect to see the nice pair of bare legs sticking out from under the hood of a broken-down car. Certainly doesn’t expect to feel his heart beat faster when he realizes they belong to one of his best friends.

If he convinces Addie to give him a chance, they could be electric…or their break-up could split their tight-knit group in two.

Hiding the way he feels from the guys through bachelor parties, cake tastings, and rehearsals is one thing. But just as Tucker realizes that Addie truly could be the perfect woman for him—he was just too stupid to realize it—now she’s leaving to follow her own dreams. He’s going to need to do a lot of compromising if he’s going to convince her to take a shot at forever with him—on her terms this time.

The closer we get, the more I want Brooklyn. The stakes are high, and I know there’s a big chance of both of us getting hurt, but I won’t stop until she’s mine.

Feature and Giveaway: Nailed It by Cindi Madsen

I'm Ivy Clarke. Bartender, best friend, and disbeliever in love.

And now I'm in over my head, trying to flip a house all by myself.

Thanks, HGTV.

I'm not too proud to admit I need some help. Too bad the only one who can help me is the same man I want to throw out this house's second-story window.

Jackson Gamble and I can't be in the same room together for more than a minute without devolving into a sparring match.

Except for that one time…

But enough about that. Jackson's looking for forever, and I don't believe in love, remember?

Get in. Renovate. Get out. Keep my heart firmly in tact.

Because it's much easier to fix up a house than a broken heart.

Full of humor and dripping with delicious tension, Nailed It proves that every heart can be ready for a little rehabilitation, if only you're willing to open it up.

ARC Review: Crazy Pucking Love by Cindi Madsen

Crazy Pucking Love is the third book in the Taking Shots series by Cindi Madsen. Don't worry if you haven't read the previous books in the series, each story is a standalone. I hadn't read any of the previous books and didn't have any problems understanding this one. Crazy Pucking Love was an easy and enjoyable read with a lot to like. I did have a few things that kept me from really loving it, but it was a good story that I would rate somewhere between 3 and 4 stars.

Megan and Dane met and shared a passionate kiss only to soon discover that Dane is on the hockey team with Megan's brother, making a relationship between them forbidden. But Dane and Megan both suffer from insomnia and soon find themselves forming a friendship despite the fact that they know they should stay away from one another. As their friendship grows into more, Megan and Dane must decide if a chance at something together is worth breaking all the rules for.

There was so much chemistry between these two! They were great for each other, and you could see right away that they should be together. But despite the chemistry between them, I really struggled with Dane. It wasn't that I didn't like him, because I did, but he was too much in his head for me. He frustrated me, and worse than that he couldn't stop mentioning his ex which was a turn off. Megan was likable and determined, but she too frustrated me at times with how she let Dane get away with too much push and pull. The back and forth was a bit too much. I did feel the connection between them though, and it was nice to see a friendship form first rather than the instalust/love that is so common in NA stories anymore.

Despite the criticisms I had with the characters, this was a good book and I did enjoy it. The heat and chemistry was there from the start and the sexy times were hot! I liked Dane and Megan's interactions and felt like the connection they were forming was real and genuine, and more than just attraction. I think had we not been constantly reminded of the ex and Dane constantly in his head because of it, that this could have been a really great read. I still enjoyed it though, and if you are a fan of NA romance and sports romance stories, this is one worth checking out. I would read more from Cindi Madsen, and I liked a lot of the secondary characters in this story which makes me want to read more in this series.

ARC Review: Crazy for the Competition by Cindi Madsen

Crazy for the Competition is a standalone story in Cindi Madsen's Hope Springs Series. Though the characters in each book are interconnected, it is not required that they be read in order to enjoy each story. While this book had some great moments, this one was just okay for me. I had a tough time relating to the heroine, but it was still a good light and easy read.

Quinn Sakata is working towards leaving her father's real-estate business and reopening the Mountain Ridge Bed and Breakfast. She is tired of trying to please her family and being the black sheep, only to never live up to their expectations. But in order to branch out on her own, she will have to out-bid the competition for the Mountain Ridge property. When she finds out that her high school crush Heath Brantley is the other bidder, she vows to do whatever it takes to be the winner. But when they are forced to work together to try and win the town's approval, Quinn and Heath grow close and soon they are both realizing that there is more to each other than they expected. Will Heath and Quinn do whatever it takes to beat the competition, or will they realize that there is more than just the property at stake?

I had a tough time with Quinn. Not that she wasn't an okay character, but I just didn't really have anything in common with her and didn't really ever feel like I was invested in her story. She was of Japanese descent and though she was Americanized, she still had a lot of traditional Japanese values. She wanted her family's approval and tended to do things in order to appease them, when it was clear that she wanted so much more out of life. That was a bit frustrating for me as I am pretty much the opposite. Though family approval and support is great, I also believe in going after your dreams and pursuing the life you want. Quinn did too, but she was pretty passive about it. Heath was easier for me to like. He was also very much a family man, but it was more in relation to his siblings rather than his father. He looked out for his little brother and would do whatever it took for him or his older brother. I felt like he and Quinn had a lot in common when it came to being loyal and how they felt connected to their families. I liked the connection that they found with each other as well, and it was good to see them get over their initial assumptions of one another.

Overall, this was a sweet and light clean romance. Though Quinn and Heath had chemistry, there wasn't much steam here as is common with Entangled's Bliss Imprint. If you are looking for something light and clean, this might be one that you want to check out. There were some really sweet and cute moments throughout this story, and I did enjoy it. For me personally though, I just wasn't really able to relate to Quinn and that kind of threw me off the whole story. I have really enjoyed books by Cindi Madsen in the past though, and I know I will read more from her in the future.

ARC Review: Resisting the Hero by Cindi Madsen

I have really enjoyed every Accidentally in Love story to date, and was really excited when I found out Resisting the Hero was being released. Connor and Faith were a ton of fun to read about, and were right up there with Wes and Dani for being my favorites from this series. If you haven't read any of the books in this series, they can each be read as standalones. I highly recommend that you check this series out though as they are all really good, and its great to see each of the couples have brief cameos as the series progresses. Resisting the Hero is definitely worth the read, and just proves why this series is one that will stick with me and that I know I will keep rereading in the future.

After losing her father to his dangerous job as a Cop and having her boyfriend cheat on her, Faith is determined to only settle for normal and safe when it comes to her future. She returns home to stay with her brother after her awful break-up. She finds out that he has just put himself in even more danger than just being a Cop by him joining the SWAT team. When she comes face to face with her brother's partner Connor and the reason he joined SWAT, she immediately vows to stay away from him. But the attraction between them is instant. Connor instantly drawn to Faith, but with the warning from her brother as well as his past, he knows that he should stay away from her. But the more they get to know each other, the harder they find it to stay away from each other. Connor is determined to prove to Faith that for the first time he is ready to have a relationship with only one woman and that woman is her. Faith however is still convinced that being with a Cop is the last thing she needs, even if that Cop is Connor and she knows that she has come to care about him. Can Connor convince her that what they have is worth the risk? Or will Faith let her past continue to determine her future and cause her to do what she has always done and run?

I really liked Connor. At first he is cocky and arrogant, and I really thought that I wasn't going to like him at all. However that quickly changed, and it was great to see that he was more than just his first impression. He was sweet and patient, and was great with his family and friends. He was so caring and protective, and the kind of guy who was always looking out for others. I loved how sweet he was with his dog Penny and also with the children in his life. He was just a really good guy who also happened to be a smoking hot man in uniform! I liked Faith. I thought that she was a great heroine that had been through a lot and was vulnerable. She had been hurt so much that she was afraid to put herself out there, especially with someone in a higher risk job. But I loved that she started to let Connor in and got to know him beyond what she had originally assumed about him. I really liked that she wasn't a prissy girly girl and that she enjoyed going fishing and doing things that a lot of girls wouldn't. I thought that Faith and Connor had a lot of chemistry together and tons of sexual tension. I liked that they took it slow though and really allowed their connection to strengthen. Their feelings seemed much more real to me because they were based off friendship and emotion and not just sex. Faith and Connor were a great fit for each other, and I enjoyed watching them open up to one another and grow.

Overall, I really liked this story. Out of all of the books in this series, Falling For Her Fiance had been my favorite until I read Resisting the Hero. Its hard to tell which one I liked more, because they were both so good! Connor and Faith will always be one of my favorites as will Dani and Wes. The one thing that kept this book from being a five star read for me though was the constant pushing away that Faith did to Connor. I can understand that after everything that she had been through how she would be hesitant to let someone in especially with his career. However it got old after the first several times and at that point it really got to the point that I was getting irritated with her. With her pursuing a career in psychology, it didn't make sense for her to be so hung up on her past and incapable of moving on. The one redeeming bit of the whole thing though was the fact that at least she was aware of her short comings. I just wish that she wouldn't have kept at it for so long. By the time that she finally accepted her feelings for Connor and was ready to take a risk the book was almost over and I felt that their HEA got a bit rushed. I would have liked to have seen them have a bit less push and pull and more time actually together. I liked the epilogue and thought that it was really nice that we got to see that part of the series, but I wish that we would have got a bit more of what happened for Connor and Faith after. I felt like it was somewhat abrupt and that we could have been given a bit more. All in all though, this one was definitely one of my favorites in this series. Cindi Madsen continues to write stories filled with likable characters that you can't help but become invested in and root for. I can't wait to see what she writes next. I highly recommend checking this story out if you haven't already, and would recommend this series to anyone who likes their romances to be sweet and tension filled with a ton of chemistry.
