Follow Friday #8

Feature and Follow Friday is a blog hop put together by two hosts:  Parajunkee and Alison Can Read as a way to help bloggers become aware of other blogs and bloggers. It's a great way to make new blogger friends.

Q. If you could change the ending of any book (or series), which book would you choose? Why and to what?

Wow, what a way to make me think. The only book I can think of is Breaking Dawn. When I read it I had to put it down several times because it just made me so angry! For me, it just felt so fake and contrived. Breaking Dawn felt like a completely different book from the others in the series and it just didn't seem to mesh well with the others. I felt like I was reading a sci-fi/fantasy, rather than a vampire love story.

If I could change it, I would just like it to be more like the first three books. I don't want Bella to get preggers and pop out a muntant hybrid baby that grows super fast and is mated to Jacob. (Gag!) If you remove all of that I would like it so much more.

  2. Ya, this is a popular answer for good reason...I really disliked Twilight in general and Breaking Dawn in particular.

  3. Poor Breaking Dawn. It really seems to be taking a beating as the answer to this week's question. Although, I do understand why!

  7. LOL Love the way you worded that! I did think it was an odd book, I don't know why, at the time I just went with the flow, I didn't really think about how different it was from the other books until way later.. I did think it was such a weird way to end the series LOL Not the way I imagined at first, that's for sure! The imprinting is what was the weirdest for me..

    Following you :)

  9. So many people are saying Breaking Dawn! I admit I'm not a fan of the Twilight books full stop - but I never expected so many people to want to change the ending.

  16. Being the maverick that I am, I penciled in my own addition to this week’s Follow Friday question and then answered it.

Change the ending of a book? No way, no how.

From the perspective of a reader – it never even dawned on me. As a writer I find the notion sacrilegious.

Wait! I can explain! Follow me back to my blog for all the verbosity – http://www.howardsherman.net

  17. Breaking Dawn is a popular pick. I could stomach the ending but I would definitely tweak some of the story.
