Places to find Jess:
First off, can you tell us a bit about you?
Sure! I’m Jess Michaels, I write erotic historical romance for Samhain publishing. I live in Tucson, I’ve been married for 16 years to my best friend, we have two cats and I’m an aunt to the two cutest nephews EVER. I am a geek and am watching Doctor Who while I’m writing this. I have a newsletter and once a month we pick a winner from the subscribers to get either a Kindle or a $75 Amazon gift certificate. You can join at http://www.authorjessmichaels.com/join-the-jess-michaels-newsletter/
A la Twitter style, please describe your book (or series) in 140 characters or less.
Romeo and Juliet set in the Regency era with a lot of steamy sex.
What types of scenes are your most favorite to write?
I really love highly emotional scenes between my hero and heroine. Those always seem to write themselves when I let them.
What are the things that influence you the most as a writer?
I tend to write the theme of the healing power of love a lot, so I think that must be an influence for me. I certainly know it can be true and I love using it in my stories.
What are some of your favorite characteristics to find in a hero?
Sexy, of course, but also strong. By that I mean emotionally and mentally strong. In fact, often he has to release some of his strength in order to find love. He needs to become vulnerable. I love confidence in a hero, powerful sexuality and decency.
Tell me, is there anything that we would be surprised to learn about you?
Good question, I’m pretty much an open book. Let’s see… I don’t drink. Pretty much ever. It’s not that I have anything against it, but it does this weird inner ear thing to me and it’s highly unpleasant. So though I occasionally have something, most of the time I’m the DD.
If you could live inside any book, which one would you choose and why?
I think maybe Anne of Green Gables. Anne would be fun to hang out with, though I might have to fight her for Gilbert and I doubt that would go well.
If you could spend the day in the shoes of any of your characters, who would you choose and why?
I think Vivien from the Mistress Matchmaker series is a hoot! I’d love to hang out as her for a few days. She’s tough, she’s powerful, she’s amazing.
If you were stranded on a desert island and could bring only three items, what would you bring and why?
My Kindle (assuming I could have it forever charged in this scenario) so that I’d have any book I’d like. Once that was taken care of, I’d say toiletries. I know that’s more than one thing, but it’s my island I can cheat if I want to. I like smelling nice, so I’d like toothpaste and shampoo and stuff. Finally, I assume I’m going to lose weight during this thing, so lots of cute bikinis for when I’m super slim and adorable.
Last question, are you working on anything right now?
Let’s see, while I’m actually writing this, I am working on the second book in The Pleasure Wars series, PLEASURING THE LADY. It comes out November 19 from Samhain. By the time this interview is up, I’ll have just started the third book in the series, BEAUTY AND THE EARL, which will be out April 15, 2014.

Consumed by grief, Christian makes a grim decision. He will kidnap Lady Ava so that her family will feel the pain of loss as keenly as he feels the loss of his own sister. Castle is my favorite TV show right now. I was sad to see Brothers and Sisters go off the air. I really liked that show.
ReplyDeleteFirefly... would love to see it again!
ReplyDeleteI love modern family. It's so funny.
I love Revenge!
ReplyDeleteI really like Walking Dead and Game of Thrones... but I'm currently watching and enjoying Under the Dome and Falling Skies right now. Ummm... I also would have saved Firefly! Mal!
ReplyDeleteI like How I Met Your Mother and will be sorry to see it go.
ReplyDeleteI would save Vegas. It was a great show with good ratings, not sure why it got axed. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteGame of Thrones is my favorite, but another favorite Strike Back is returning in August.
ReplyDeletei adore 'arrow', and i can't wait for season two to begin in the fall
ReplyDeleteMy favorite show is Castle since Castle and Kate are a couple now.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch much TV, but I do watch True Blood.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch TV. I'd save MASH that was when TV was good and not all this reality junk that's on now.
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched any television for ages. I have a few favorites that I just buy the DVD for: BIG BANG THEORY, GAME OF THRONES, SUPERNATURAL. I can't think of anything else I would want to save.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite show is The Graham Norton Show. I wish Ally McBeal was never cancelled.
ReplyDeleteIt's a toss up between Castle and Big Bang Theory. So far as cancelled shows, I can't think of anything recent. There are a lot of older shows that come immediately to mind, some of which were ended "on schedule": Star Trek (TOS), Alien Nation, Serenity, Starman, Buffy, Beauty and the Beast, Lois and Clark, etc.
ReplyDeleteI am watching Castle and Vampire Diaries. It's a pity that Heroes is stopped. It was such a good movie, especially the story became more interesting and complex.
ReplyDeleteRight now my favorite show is Big Brother, and I really, really hate that Rules of Engagement was cancelled.
ReplyDeleteRight now, i have two favorite shows, The Vampire Diaries and Lost Girl. I hope they both keep going! Ill be heart broken if either gets canceled. :/
ReplyDeletelol Thanks for sharing! Looks like an awesome book!
My favorite shows right now are Once Upon a Time, Castle, Bones and The Mentalist. Even though the show isn't cancelled - just the host, I think NBC has treated Jay Leno badly.
ReplyDeleteI have to be honest and let you know that to me TV is my "background music" for reading books! I usually try to put something on that I don't have to concentrate on but since my husband is semi-retired and I'm still working I do watch shows on HGTV to try to get tips on what needs to be done to fix up our house and get out of Dodge and move closer to our grandchildren!
ReplyDeleteI can't think of a single show that's on right now that's better than a great book (and a book doesn't have endless advertisements!).
