Interview with Author Megan Mulry and Giveaway

Meet Megan Mulry, author of R is For Rebel.

Megan Mulry writes sexy, stylish, romantic fiction. Her first book, A Royal Pain, was an NPR Best Book of 2012 and USA Today bestseller. Before discovering her passion for romance novels, she worked in magazine publishing and finance. After many years in New York, Boston, London, and Chicago, she now lives with her family in Florida.

Places to find Megan:

Thanks so much for having me back to your blog! I can’t believe how quickly the time has passed since I visited in July.

A la Twitter style, please describe your book in 140 characters or less.
R IS FOR REBEL: what happens when the one who's totally wrong for you on the outside is the only one who makes you feel right on the inside.

I ended up tweeting that and doing a screen capture. Here it is:

What types of scenes are your most favorite to write?
I love scenes when both characters are all nervous and messed up inside, usually right before some explosive sex scene, because they’re both really freaked out and physically aware of each other, but not at all certain how things will turn out.

If you could have dinner with any three authors (alive or dead), who would you choose and why?
Impossible to decide. A part of me thinks I should go for the historical firmament with William Shakespeare and Virginia Woolf and Jane Austen, but the truth is, at this moment, I’d probably choose my real life firmament of writer-friends Anne Calhoun, Mira Lyn Kelly, and Miranda Neville (because we are all long overdue for a smutty, alcohol-induced klatsch).

What are your favorite types of stories to read?
Lately, I’ve been hooked on Olivia Cunning’s rock star erotica, but I’m a very peripatetic romance reader and love any story that gives me the elusive “tingle”—from cowboy super romances to sweeping historicals.

Last question, are you working on anything right now?
I have several different projects in the works, ranging from contemporary French heroes to erotic historicals. I’m also writing some short stories and novellas because I love the intensity that comes with a shorter format.

Have you ever fallen for someone who was supposedly “wrong” for you? If so, how did it turn out?

Thanks again for having me!

Being royal isn’t all it’s cracked up to be…

Abigail Heyworth, youngest daughter of the 18th Duke of Northrop, is not your typical British royal—she’ll take a recycling drive over a charity ball any day. She can’t stand hats and heels. Abby’s not getting much sympathy, of course, because everyone thinks the life of royalty is so charmed.

But to Abigail, keeping up appearances is unbearable, while running away doesn’t seem to work either. Just when she feels like she’s getting whiplash from swinging between flat-out rebellion to miserable capitulation, Abigail meets an all-American self-made millionaire who challenges her on every level.

It may turn out that what Abigail is searching for kind of resembles the American Dream…

  4. Yes ... he turned out to be an abusive serial cheater who in fairly short order became my ex-husband. Now I pay attention when I see what are clearly red flags!

  7. Yes and it didn't turn out great, but I still don't think you should judge someone just because they may not be great for you (but at the same time, trust your instincts)

  9. Yes, and it turns out "they" were right. I got my heart handed back to me in pieces along with my trust and self-esteem. It's happened more than once. :/
