Hey Y'all,
I'm so excited about my post today. I get to share with you my top favorite romance couples of all time! Yippee - I decided to pick five and tell you why!!
#5 Skye O'Malley and Niall Burke, Skye O'Malley by Bertrice small. Why? Because who can go wrong with a sweeping saga by a masterful writer? This wonderful book, which I read over 30 years ago, has stayed with me and set the standard for beautiful sensual romance.
#4 Claire Randall and Jamie Fraser, Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, Why? Talk about a woman tore between fidelity and desire and a man that loves her enough to let her go. Oh God! I get teary-eyed just thinking about it. That opening scene of him looking up at her window..... AUUUUUUGGGGHHH!!! There I go I'm sniffing!
#3 Stephanie Plum and Ranger and Joe Morelli, The Stephanie Plum Series by Janet Evanovich. Why? Is there really a question? We're talking about two hunky guys. I want her to end up with Ranger, no wait I want Joe with his sexy Italian self. I have to say the sex scene in Hard Eight made me a total Ranger fan until Joe did the thing he did in Finger Lickin' Fifteen. Talk about H.O.T. She is one lucky girl, that's all I can say.
#2 Louisa Clark and Will Traynor, Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I cried...no I sobbed and then I fell asleep woke up and sobbed again. Wow is all I can say. Unforgettable love story that reminds us that sometimes the greatest love can break your heart.
#1 Zsadist and Bella, Lover Awakened by J.R. Ward. To have lived a terrifying and horrible life only to be awakened to know the highest peak of happiness when finding your soul mate. How can someone so broken allow himself to open up and allow beauty in? Somehow Zsadist and Bella make it. The scene in the bathroom where he's scrubbing himself raw because he felt so dirty and not worthy of her tore at my soul! I wanted to crawl into the pages and hug him!!
Now I will share the top three favorites from my own books. Hard to do this!!
#3 Jackson Pruitt and Adeline Buckley, Where The Four Winds Collide. A couple that find each other and learn that sometimes you have to loose everything before seeing that your destiny and true love is right there in front of you. Love these two!!
#2 Kieran Fraser and Wendy O'Sullivan, Desperate Surrender. She did it! Got the guy she's had a crush on for years. Not only is he hot, but he's immortal, a Highlander and kicks ass too! In the story, they lose each other and come to understand that apart is not an option.
#1 Ashley Cole and Grace Dawson, The Darkest Blue. I'm a sucker for the tortured hero, so when a woman is strong enough to break through the fortified barrier around his heart, I have to stand up cheer and clap for her. There is a scene where she asks Ashley to dance with her in the center of town in front of everyone. When he does, I yelled. "You go Grace!"
Ashley Cole's life changed the day he failed to save a friend's life. When his cavalry captain comes to town bringing the secrets from his past, he is forced to face his demons.
Not just her father, the town sheriff, but every instinct warns Grace Dawson to stay away from the darkest of the Cole brothers. But fate has other plans for them and the attraction between them grows with each passing day.
The same secrets that forge the connection between Ashley and Grace can also ruin any chance of happiness.

Adeline Buckley escapes her abusive father only to find herself in a brothel, on a stagecoach to the untamed west, then married to a stranger, in that order. Plotting another escape becomes harder the more she gets to know her new husband.
Jackson Pruitt didn't expect a secretive mail order bride to show up the same week cattle rustlers absconded with a large part of his herd. The bigger surprise was the loveliness of the woman. Why would a beauty like her need to travel so far to marry?
Jackson and Adeline learn that secrets and marriage do not go hand-in-hand when both of their pasts comes knocking, and they have to come to grips with the reality that sometimes trust comes only after you lose it all.

I love the sound of "action, love and unusual settings, pair that with a sense of humor".
ReplyDeleteI love that you have so many favorites from different types of books! Thanks for sharing and for the chance to win a couple of them.
ReplyDeleteI never get tired of reading your books. I love strong women and HEA. So interesting how you weave those endings.
ReplyDeleteThese books sound fabulous. I love getting to learn about new-to-me authors!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your top 5! (Though not one more single solitary book should be added to my already-outsized TBR.) What has led you to write across several different subgenres within the romance genre?
ReplyDeleteHi Katherine, I read many genres, and therefore decided not to stick to one. My true love is paranormal, then historical. I write mostly historicals now, but the contemporaries are a lot of fun to write, it gives me a break to change genres.
ReplyDeleteYou're a new author to me, Hildie, but I really like the blurbs from your books. I'll be checking into them further. :)
ReplyDeleteMarcy Shuler

ReplyDeleteHaHa I love that I'm not the only one who has trouble narrowing down favorites to only one. Impossible!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds and looks like a very interesting read.
ReplyDeleteHi, was it deliberate not to show faces on the covers?
ReplyDeleteYes, I don't like to show faces, I want the reader to make up how they look while they read. We all have different definitions of beauty after all.
DeleteThese both sound like great reads!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!

I hope you read them and enjoy!
