Meet Sophie Barnes, author of The Danger in Tempting an Earl.
Born in Denmark, Sophie has spent her youth traveling with her parents to wonderful places all around the world. She’s lived in five different countries, on three different continents, and speaks Danish, English, French, Spanish and Romanian.
She has studied design in Paris and New York and has a bachelor’s degree from Parson’s School of design, but most impressive of all – she’s been married to the same man three times, in three different countries and in three different dresses.
While living in Africa, Sophie turned to her lifelong passion – writing.
When she’s not busy, dreaming up her next romance novel, Sophie enjoys spending time with her family, swimming, cooking, gardening, watching romantic comedies and, of course, reading. She currently lives on the East Coast.

Interview with Katharine and Lucien
(After the end of the series)
Katherine, how did you first meet Lucien?
Katherine: I’ve known him my entire life, but one of my earliest memories of him is from when I was about three or four years old. He was visiting with his parents and Mama had told me I wasn’t allowed any more strawberry tarts, so Lucien snuck one off the serving dish for me when nobody else was looking. I think that particular strawberry tart was the best one I ever tasted.
When did you realize that he was the man for you?
Katherine: Unfortunately that took a while.
Lucien: I still don’t understand how you managed to remain immune to my charms for as long as you did.
Katherine (chuckling): I’m afraid I proved quite a challenge for you, Lucien, for which I’m sorry. To begin with I simply didn’t consider you romantically because of the nature of our relationship. When I finally did, I feared you would find me wanting.
Lucien: I could never find you wanting, Kate, and Crossby was an ass for doing so.
Katherine: Lucien! We’re in polite company!
Lucien: Apologies, but the thought of that man still makes me furious.
Did you ever think that your life would end up being in a book?
Katherine: Not at all. It was quite a surprise to discover that an author had taken an interest in our story. Hopefully I’ll have an opportunity to read it one day.
How about you, Lucien?
Lucien: It’s quite an honor to be immortalized. Hopefully the author has done our story justice so readers will find it both entertaining and uplifting.
What are your favorite scenes in your book: the action, the dialog or the romance?
Lucien: Katherine and I have always had some very amusing conversations and the action certainly kept me on my toes, but if I had to choose one scene it’s probably the moment when Katherine realized that my love for her is unconditional.
Do you agree with him, Katherine?
Katherine: I have to say I was quite relieved when he saved my life! Aside from that, our first kiss was very special - it changed everything between us.
Did you have a hard time convincing your author to write any particular scenes for you?
Katherine: She seemed a bit reluctant to let me go to London with Lucien in the beginning, but I really wanted to be part of the adventure, and besides, if I hadn’t gone with him it would have taken me so much longer to fall head over heels in love with him.
Lucien: It’s a good thing you managed to convince her then (he winks at Katherine who promptly turns scarlet).
What do you like to do when you are not being actively read somewhere?
Lucien: I enjoy riding and fishing, perhaps a game of chess with Katherine if it’s raining.
Katherine: I still can’t believe you pretended to lose to me for all those years.
Lucien (shrugging): You were young and I didn’t want to discourage you from playing.
Katherine: You really are the most considerate of men. I also love playing chess with, as well as riding, fishing and the occasional picnic. That visit to the modiste shop was quite enjoyable too.
Lucien: I trust you’re speaking for yourself in this instance. In hindsight, I can’t imagine what I was thinking when I let you talk me into that particular excursion.
Katherine: I’m sure you were feeling horribly guilty about staying away as long as you did without a word.
Lucien: You’re probably right. I’m still sorry about that.
Katherine (kissing him gently on the cheek): You needn’t be. You’ve long since been forgiven.
Do you like the way the book ended?
Katherine: Oh yes. Who wouldn’t like to end a story with a splendid ball and a ducal marriage proposal?
Lucien: Don’t forget Mr. Neville’s announcement about his marriage to Lady Rebecca. Took me completely by surprise.
Katherine: It certainly did. And then of course there’s Mr. Goodard. I do hope he finds his happily ever after with Lady Julie.
Lucien: Perhaps there’s another book in store?
Katherine: Perhaps.
What are your plans for the future?
Katherine (with a big smile): For now we’re busy setting up our nursery.
Lucien (looking very proud): Apparently there will be a new addition to the family in the spring - we’re both very excited.
Katherine: I hope he’ll be as handsome as his father
Lucien: If she’s as much trouble as her mother was as a child we’ll certainly have our hands full. I suggest we hide all the soup terrines immediately!
Katherine (laughing): Lucien! I can’t believe you would bring that up!
Lucien (gazing at her fondly): Forgive me, my dear, but it couldn’t be helped. I love everything about you.
Katharine: As I love you, Lucien, with all my heart.
Lucien Marvaine never thought he was good enough for Katherine. As the younger son of an earl, he didn’t have a title or prospects. Then fate steps in and gives him a second chance, and this new Earl of Roxbury is determined to make the beautiful Kate his own . . . one touch . . . one kiss at a time.
Katherine never thought of herself as a temptress, certainly not with Lucien. Why, she’s known him almost all her life! Yet as she waltzes in Lucien’s arms at the Kingsborough Ball, she can’t help but be drawn to him. Has he always been this hard and masculine? And where did those dimples come from? Kate is not looking for a husband . . . but how can she not surrender to Lucien’s charms when love is at stake?
