Interview with Author Katee Robert and Giveaway

Meet Katee Robert, author of Meeting His Match.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Katee Robert, learned to tell stories at her grandpa’s knee. Her favorites then were the rather epic adventures of The Three Bears, but at age twelve she discovered romance novels and never looked back. Though she dabbled in writing, life got in the way, as it often does, and she spent a few years traveling, living in both Philadelphia and Germany. In between traveling and raising her two wee ones, she had the crazy idea that she’d like to write a book and try to get published.

First off, can you tell us a bit about you?
I’m just one big nerd. I’d mostly rather be inside reading books or playing video games, unless there’s a lake involved (in which you will always find me on a boat singing... “I’m on a Boat”).

Did you always want to be a writer?
Yes. I still have my first story (written and illustrated it like a boss!). There were a lot of fits and starts that got me to the point where I wanted to do it “for real” but it was always the pipe dream.

What kind of writer are you? Panster or Plotter?
I’m a plotser. I usually do a rough outline and then pants from plot point to plot point. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it goes horribly wrong.

Where do your ideas come from?
Everything. I read quite a bit of nonfiction these days, which leads to strange places, but I tend to look at every experience as fodder for stories. Sometimes two story ideas come together unexpectedly, and that’s where the real fun starts.

A la Twitter style, can you describe your book (or series) in 140 characters or less.
A NYC matchmaker is determined to find this southern CEO a wife...whether he wants to be matched or not.

What are some of your favorite kinds of stories to read?
I go through cycles where I’ll binge-read a bunch of the same type of books and then move on to the next once I get burnt out. Right now I’m on a YA thriller/horror kick. There are some AMAZING stories out there now.

Do you have a favorite book and if so what is it?
Anne Bishop’s Black Jewels trilogy. Yes, I cheated. It’s three books. But that story is my favorite to date. She’s an amazing story teller.

What are the scenes that are the hardest for you to write?
The portion of the book between the midpoint and before everything blows up (metaphorically or otherwise) tends to be the most difficult for me.

If you could have dinner with any three authors, who would you choose and why?
Tiffany Reisz, Nora Roberts, and Kresley Cole. I think it’d be a hilarious experience all around, and I admire all three of them greatly. I’d love to be able to soak up some of their genius.

Last question, are you working on anything right now?
Always! ;) I’m currently neck deep in a BDSM novel for Entangled’s Brazen line. It’s probably the single hottest thing I’ve written to date (and the hero is a Chris Hemsworth look alike who’s an identical twin), and releases sometime this fall/winter.

What are some of YOUR favorite stories to read?

When New York matchmaker Addison St. Claire is tasked with matching her best friend’s new brother-in-law, she almost refuses. But the sexy southern CEO turns out to be a challenge she can’t resist, because if anyone needs to meet his soul mate, it’s this man. And if matching him with someone else removes the temptation of being near him? Even better.

The last thing Caine McNeill needs is a matchmaker—especially a gorgeous redhead who spouts nonsense about soul mates, critiques what he drives and how he dresses, buys him a dog, and pesters him about a million little things he couldn’t care less about. It’s a crying shame he has to keep his hands off because chemistry like what’s flaring between them ought to be explored. Thoroughly.

And so the battle begins. Addison is determined to stick to her plan of setting him up on dates with other women, and Caine is equally determined to ignore these women and seduce her.

  2. I prefer books where a strong heroine takes a spill/faints so that the hero can pick her up, as that's what I think of when I go to sleep at night, dreaming of myself as that heroine and savoring every delicious moment....
