I’m so glad to be invited to your blog today!
I’m babysitting a puppy for the next 60 days, while my son goes to Europe. He just graduated from college this past weekend, cum laude, a feat I never achieved, and he has at least eight years of med school in front of him. I told him to take his backpack and go away. Use this time to rest and unplug from the insanity, because while life is fun, it’s insane, too. Getting into a medical school was insane, from a parents’ perspective. I was no great student, and my son really made his mother proud by receiving two offers from medical schools. But we all need some rest, and so hopefully these two months wil recharge his batteries.
But back to the puppy. My furry grandson and writing companion is named Apollo. He is a Catahoula, specifically a Louisiana Catahoula cur, I suppose. He walked out of the woods one night at 4:30 in the morning, to a float that Dean’s girlfriend’s sorority was making. Dean’s girlfriend thought Apollo was just what Dean needed, and the next thing that happened was Mom receiving the obligatory question that every parent gets at least once: Can I keep him?
Well, we didn’t need a Catahoula. But it wasn’t a motorcycle, so I gave in as gracefully as I could. It was a rescue of a sort after all, and I have a super soft spot for animal rescues. This spotted dog is now my companion for the next sixty days, and he’s going to learn a lot about writers. And I will learn a lot about puppies. This one hates the trash truck--terrified of it. He adores my Golden retriever, and the Goldren retriever would be just as happy if Apollo went back home. Yes, we’re going to learn a lot about each other in the next sixty days, but the three of us will surely enjoy the summer! And then I have a trip to Florida planned for my husband and me. Just a short respite, but a few days to recharge after Apollo leaves. Dean says Apollo won’t know him anymore when he returns. But I think Apollo won’t forget his dad. I know I’ll miss my son dreadfully—but I also look forward to hearing about his adventures, too.
I hope you have a wonderful summer, full of wonderful adventures, and if you need some beach reading, I’m attaching an excerpt for my new book from Loveswept, Last of the Red-Hot Riders, below! There’s also a contest for commenters!
Thanks again for having me!
The toughest rodeo rider in Hell, Texas, discovers his tender side with a feisty cowgirl in this sexy new novel from USA Today bestselling author Tina Leonard.
Cameron Dix knows that becoming an elite rider is the first step to realizing her dream: owning a special-needs equestrian academy. Only one thing stands in her way—and he’s big, tall, and sizzles like a Texas steak. What else can a fiery redhead do but let her hair down and give in to desire hot enough to melt her saddle?
Saint has seen what happens when women come marching into the Hell’s Outlaws Training Center: Strong men crumble. Problem is, he’s got rivals willing to train a talented lady rider like Cameron. But after one night of passion, he’s branded. And from the moment he kisses her ruby lips, Cameron is his—even if he’s too stubborn to admit it. Now Saint must stake his claim on a life of delicious sin with the woman he loves.
