Hi everyone! Happy Halloween! Huge thanks to Dani for hosting this blissfully spooky event!
Halloween is my favorite holiday. I’ve loved it since I was a young girl and Creature Feature was on TV. I’d watch it every weekend, along with classic horror films like The Creature from the Black Lagoon and Frankenstein. I also adored all the Abbott & Costello films where they meet Dracula, etc. When I got to my teens I watched every scary movie from Halloween and Friday the 13th to When A Stranger Calls—I watched this one on television one night when home alone babysitting my younger brother. Very. Bad. Idea. Especially when the phone rang.
My love of Halloween grew as I got older and after my hubby and I got married we threw our first party. A tradition that continued for almost twenty years. (I could open my own store, that’s how many decorations we have!) My DH and I have dressed as a surfer and aquarium, pirates, werewolves, Romeo and Juliet, a devil and angel, Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf (I was the wolf), Cinderella and Prince Charming, jailbirds, sports fanatics, Ginger and the Skipper, and more.
We’ve also had a blast dressing up our boys every year and throwing kids parties for them. We always made a big deal out of decorating the house on October 1st, too. We’d put on some spooky music, get out all the boxes of decorations, and go to town as a family. I have really fond memories of that. When our oldest left for college, though, things changed. (And honestly, I was ready to give up all the holiday hoopla. It’s exhausting. lol) I still love spooky things, but don’t seek out scary movies anymore. I am watching American Horror Story and Scream Queens. Anyone else watching them?
This is one of my favorite years. My older son was a zombie baseball player. Hubby rigged a bat through his chest!
In my small fictional town of White Strand Cove, Halloween is celebrated with a carnival and costume contest. Bryce and Honor, my hero and heroine in Blame it on The Kiss, are getting their disco on and dressing as a couple from the 70’s. =)
So tell me, what’s your favorite thing about Halloween? Decorating? Dressing up? The candy? Whatever it is, I hope you have a spooktacular day!

My favorite part of Halloween is the costumes. I love seeing the kids dressed up. It was always a big deal for my three girls. Every year I made their costumes. I've sewn almost every Disney princess there is!
ReplyDeleteHi Sue! Oh, I wish I was talented enough to sew costumes. I bet your daughters always looked amazing. Happy Halloween!
DeleteI certainly am not talented enough to sew everyday clothes, but I could fake it enough for costumes! ;)
DeleteThe candy is definitely the best part of Halloween.

DeleteWhen I was a kid, it was the costumes and the candy....now it's just the candy. Chocolate Candy Corn is my favorite and it's only available at this time of year.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the weight loss loss, Pam! That's awesome.
DeleteMy favorite part of Halloween is the candy. I like to see little kids in costume, but I'm not into horror or gore at all. *shudder*
ReplyDeleteMarcy Shuler
LOL, Marcy. Gore doesn't bother me at all. The one thing that does freak me out? Scary clowns. OMG, I hate them.
DeleteI love that it's the one time of year when it's acceptable for adults to eat candy corn. Is it wrong that I still love the stuff?
ReplyDeleteHi Jen! Nope, not wrong at all if you ask me! I love candy corn!!
DeleteUltimately the candy is my favorite thing, but dressing up is lots of fun too!
