ARC Review: Good Girl Vs. Bad Boy: The Marine Meets His Match by Jessie Evans

Good Girl Vs. Bad Boy isn't the first book I have read from Jessie Evans and it won't be the last. I have really enjoyed a lot of Jessie's books and GGVBB had a lot of really great moments. Unfortunately it wasn't my favorite from her, but I really think that is a personal thing here rather than it being the story itself. I think a lot of readers will really enjoy this book, and it is very possible that this book just wasn't meant for me.

Phoebe Page has always been the good girl. But after losing her sister, she is ready to live her life and not focus on being so good anymore. So when she runs into her best friend's older brother (the guy she has crushed on her whole life), she wants nothing more than to have a sexy holiday fling with him. After getting injured, Colton Brody has worked hard to find a way to get back in action with the Marines. The last thing he needs to do is put down roots or get attached to his little sister's best friend. But Phoebe isn't the same girl he remembered, and before long she is getting under his skin. But can Colton give up the dream of returning to the Marines for a chance at a future with Phoebe, and if he chooses to fight for her can he convince Phoebe to take a risk on more than just a fling with him?

I did like Phoebe and Colton, and it was easy to see that these two definitely had a friendship between them. But while Phoebe had wanted more from Colton for years, Colton didn't seem to really notice her until she was all grown up. I thought that they did have chemistry between them and the more time they spent together the more their connection grew. But as must as I liked these two, I just didn't really feel connected to them or invested in their story. A lot of that was the fact that this entire book and Phoebe's character were so quirky that it was just hard for me to really get into. I didn't feel like I could relate to her, even though she was likable enough.

I also felt like while the humor and some of the quirkiness was okay, this one got a little over the top for me. While there was a warning in the blurb about a few of the crazier things, the rest of the blurb made this book sound like something a bit different than what it actually was. For me this one wasn't what I had been expecting or hoping for, and so no matter how funny or cute some moments were it just wasn't a book that I really loved. I think that Jessie Evans is a great writer though, and I really believe that this was just a case of it's not you, it's me. If you are looking for a quirky romance and don't mind some over the top antics, I would recommend giving this one a shot.

Feature and Giveaway: Good Girl vs. Bad Boy by Jessie Evans

Let the battle of the sexes begin…

He’s hot, wild, unpredictable, untamable, and her best friend’s older brother.

Colton Brody is everything a good girl like Phoebe Page should avoid. But since her sister Kelly’s death, Phoebe isn’t as worried about being good as she used to be. She wants to live big with no regrets, the way Kelly did, and she intends to start with having a top secret, super steamy, no-strings-attached holiday fling with the man she’s crushed on her entire life.

What could go wrong?

Except everything?

Wounded in action and discharged without a chance to prove himself, all Colton cares about is getting back into the Marine Corps where he belongs. He will not get sucked into small town drama, will not take that promotion at the firehouse, and certainly won’t fall in love with his little sister’s best friend. He’s down for friends-with-benefits, nothing more, and plans to leave town long before quirky, bossy, cute-as-a-button Phoebe can get under his skin.

He is in control.

At least until a certain sexy brunette turns his world upside down.

It isn’t long before Colton finds himself buying flowers, talking feelings, and wishing Phoebe wanted more than another night of hot, no-holds-barred sex. Because when he’s with Phoebe even hot and dirty feels like making love.

Now Colton will have to decide what’s worth fighting for—the dreams a plane crash stole from him or the dream he’s holding in his arms.

WARNING: Good Girl vs. Bad Boy contains a mix of heart-warming romance, quirky characters, laugh out loud moments, and blisteringly hot banging. If you don’t like hot sex, laughter, mentions of humping unicorns, turkey bowling, off-beat town rituals, or graphic descriptions of artisanal pancakes, steer clear.

Review: One Perfect Love by Jessie Evans

I could not wait to read One Perfect Love after I finished This Wicked Rush by Jessie Evans. I had loved Gabe and Caitlin so much in that book and the ending just about killed me. I thought that One Perfect Love was a really great ending to the story, and I was happy with how things turned out. Since One Perfect Love is the continuation of Gabe and Caitlin's story, this book is not a standalone. If you haven't already read This Wicked Rush, definitely start there. I am becoming a huge fan of Jessie Evans with each new book I read of hers, and I would absolutely recommend this series.

One Perfect Love picks up after the events of This Wicked Rush with Caitlin and her friend trying to get to the bottom of what happened with Gabe. Nothing made sense, so they made a plan to figure out what was going on. But after Caitlin finds what she was hoping she wouldn't, she knows she has to move on. Now a year later, she has left her hometown and is living in Hawaii with her new boyfriend and her younger brothers and niece. Although her life isn't what she had planned, things are good. But when she is suddenly drawn back home, she quickly finds out that everything she thought she knew was a lie.

I really loved Gabe and Caitlin in the first book. I know that they did things that most would consider wrong, but that never bothered me. I was always rooting to Gabe and Caitlin, so with her having a new boyfriend at the start of this book it was a bit hard to get into. Luckily things picked up quickly and I was really glad to see that Caitlin was still the same person. She was so strong and such a fighter. She could have easily lost herself, yet she kept going for herself and those that depended on her. I will say that I was never a fan of her new boyfriend. I didn't care for him when we first met him, and I didn't care for him this time around either. He always rubbed me the wrong way, and in this book he really showed me why. I was so glad when Caitlin returned home and starting learning the truth.

I really wish I could go into why this book was so good, but I don't want to give anything away. This book was a journey about love and loss, and fighting for what you believe in. I loved that Caitlin was such a strong character and that she wasn't perfect. She didn't fit into a certain mold, and that was what made her so real to me. She was easy to like and root for, even when she was doing questionable things. Jessie Evans has created some really fantastic characters in this series, and I have loved seeing how unique and different they are. Gabe and Caitlin will always be some of my favorites, and I think that these two are absolutely perfect for one another. Gabe and Caitlin connected on so many levels, and their connection was undeniable. Even when Caitlin had tried to move on, it was clear that the only person she would ever have it all with was Gabe. I really liked how things played out though, and after reading this one I am so excited to get Danny and Sam's story. Danny has come so far from This Wicked Rush, so I can't wait to see even more of him. I think that this series is a must read, and if you haven't read it yet you are missing out. Jessie Evans is a great writer, and her stories are different than other NA books out there. I can't wait to see what she does in the future.

ARC Review: Diamonds and Dust by Jessie Evans

Diamonds and Dust is the third book in the Lonesome Point, Texas series by Jessie Evans, but this book can be read as a stand alone as each book is about interconnected characters. I couldn't wait to read this one because I love books about second chance romances, and the hero is also a baseball player who also happens to be the heroine's best friend's older brother. I love sports romance stories and there is just something about the hero being the sibling of a best friend. This book was everything that I had been hoping for, and I really enjoyed getting to know Pike and Tulsi.

On the verge of losing her business, Tulsi Hearst knows the last thing she needs is to run into her ex. Unfortunately with her best friend's wedding coming up, she knows that she will have no chance at avoiding Pike Sherman. Tulsi and Pike were both left broken hearted after their break up years before, and both made assumptions about a lot of tings. But Tulsi knows that if Pike found out the truth about everything that he would hate her. Pike knows when he sets eyes on Tulsi again that he has never stopped loving her and he is determined to leave the past behind and get a second chance with her. But when the truth comes out, it could change everything between them including the second chance that they have been given.

I really liked Pike. He was sexy and sweet, and I loved how he was with Tulsi. He had never stopped loving her, and he wasn't afraid to admit it. I found it so refreshing that he was able to admit his feelings and go after what he wanted. I really admired that about him, and it made me love him so much more. Pike was willing to let the past go and fully embrace a life with Tulsi and all that entailed. He was pretty much perfect, and I was rooting for him from the start. Tulsi had made some mistakes and I really wanted her to own up to them. I didn't care for the way that they came to light, and I really wish that she would have been the one to tell Pike without it being forced out of her. But I did like that she explained herself after the fact and let Pike know why she had done the things that she did. She wasn't in the right, but she was so young when everything happened that it was easy to see how she had thought and felt at the time. I thought that Pike and Tulsi had a great connection and a lot of chemistry between them. These two obviously loved one another, and I enjoyed seeing them find their way back to one another.

Overall, this was a good story. I liked the characters a lot, and I could tell that they belonged together. The reason that I couldn't give this one five stars though was that I felt like much of what had happened was pretty much swept under the rug. Though the truth came out and there were a few explanations, I felt like things were left largely undealt with. I wanted to see Pike and Tulsi really deal with everything that had happened, and I felt like we didn't really get to see that. We also didn't really get to see how the rest of the characters dealt with the truth coming out. I liked seeing where everyone ended up, but I also wanted to really see how they handled things as well. I really did like the characters and story though, and I can't wait for more in this series. I am looking forward to reading more in this series and from Jessie Evans in the future. If you are looking for a sweet contemporary, I would definitely recommend giving this one a shot.

ARC Review: This Wicked Rush by Jessie Evans

Wow this book was more than I ever expected, and I loved every second of it! I couldn't put this one down from start to finish, and I cannot think of a single thing that I didn't love. (Well maybe the cliffhanger ending since the second book isn't out yet, but even that is forgivable because this book was that good!) This Wicked Rush by Jessie Evans has everything you could want in a great book, and I am so glad that I read this story. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book One Perfect Love to come out because I absolutely have to know what happens next!

Caitlin Cooney has been taking care of her younger brothers and her niece since both her mom and older sister left them. Her dad is a drunk who does absolutely nothing to help, forcing Caitlin to work multiple jobs just to barely scrape by. Caitlin takes one night for herself and meets Gabe. She gives in to her attraction to him and they end up doing far more together than she ever expected. When he comes back around months later wanting her help, she does everything she can to avoid him. But Gabe doesn't give up on the things he wants easily and he wants Caitlin. Caitlin finds herself unable to say no to him, and the more time they spend together the closer they get. What starts out as being just a summer together quickly grows into more. Caitlin and Gabe embark on a summer of love and sex as well as righting some wrongs by seeking revenge on those that deserve it. But with the expiration date on their relationship, the danger their revenge provokes, and Gabe keeping a secret...can they both make it out together and safe?

I absolutely loved Gabe. I knew there was more to him than met the eye, and I had my suspicions from the beginning. But I just loved his character so much. He is sexy and confident, and really caring. He took care of Caitlin and her family, and did things just to make them happy. I thought that despite what they were doing, Gabe was really great for Caitlin. He got her to think about life differently and he helped her to stand up for herself and her family. He was so easy to root for even when you felt that you shouldn't. I also really liked Caitlin. She was so protective of her family, and you could tell how strongly she loved them all. She wasn't just taking care of the kids because they were family, but because she chose to do so. She always put their needs above her own, and you could tell she would do anything she could for them. She was so strong and was able to handle so much. Gabe and Caitlin had such a great connection, and they understood each other better than anyone else. It was clear that they loved each other and had something that they had never felt before with anyone else. They had amazing chemistry together and were super hot! These two were extremely sexy together and you could practically feel the heat coming off my Kindle while reading about them!

Overall, this book was fantastic! Dark and Edgy, but yet has moments filled with love and sacrifice. This story was different and unique and absolutely captivated me from the beginning. I loved Jessie's writing style, and everything about it was outstanding. Gabe is so freaking sexy, and I absolutely loved his dirty mouth! Him and Caitlin will definitely be characters that stay on my mind, and that I will go back and re-read over and over. Their story is one that you can't help but become invested in, and I cannot wait to get more of these two. Yes there is a big cliffhanger, and you will definitely be left wanting more. But trust me, this book is worth the read despite the ending! I highly recommend this story, and I know I will be stalking the book sites waiting for One Perfect Love to be released.

Feature and Giveaway: This Wicked Rush by Jessie Evans

“You know what I like, Caitlin. You know I want you to beg for it.”

Gabe

I’ve never been the kind of person to give up on something I want. Now, I refuse to take no for an answer. I want this girl. I want to help her, and sleep with her, and steal things with her, and make her laugh the way she did right that night in her friend's car. We’re going to have a summer neither of us will ever forget, and by the time we go our separate ways, she’ll have enough money to go to college, and I will have had her…every way I want her.

Caitlin

I’m starting to forget why it’s a bad idea to get in any deeper with a boy who is a walking, talking contradiction. A boy who has a taste for breaking the law, a wicked way with words, and a confident touch that leaves no doubt he’s way more experienced than I am. I’ve spent my life putting aside my own needs and cleaning up after other people’s mistakes. Now, I want to make a mistake of my own.

I know I’m playing with fire, but for Gabe I'm willing to beg to be burned.
