ARC Review: Professor Feelgood by Leisa Rayven

Leisa Rayven is an author that I have read everything she has written and loved every single one of her books! They are fantastically written and there is no one else like her out there. Fans of Mister Romance have been waiting for this one for awhile, but it was absolutely worth the wait, and I think that fans are going to love it! 

Asha Tate thought a promotion at her job was in the bag, but when she finds out that she needs to land the next bestseller to land the job, she knows she has her work cut out for her. She comes up with the idea to turn her obsession with a man calling himself Professor Feelgood’s Instagram into a novel, featuring his moving poetry and steamy pictures. When he agrees to let her turn it into a book, she never expects that the man behind Professor Feelgood is nothing like she imagined. But despite all the reasons she shouldn’t want him, she finds herself unable to fight the chemistry between them. 

I absolutely loved Asha and Jake. I don’t want to spoil anything for those that haven’t read, so I won’t get into much detail here...but these two were absolutely meant for one another. There was so much there between them and as the story began to unfold that became more apparent than ever. They had chemistry and a strong connection, and I was emotionally invested in them from start to finish. 

Leisa Rayven is one of my favorite author’s for so many reasons, but I just keep falling more in love with her writing with each book she releases. Professor Feelgood is a standalone, but I do highly recommend reading Mister Romance first if possible. It is another great book by her, but it is also interconnected to this story and lets you get to know some of the characters seen here better. You really can’t go wrong with anything written by Leisa Rayven, but this one is definitely a new favorite of mine! I will be anxiously awaiting Leisa’s next book, and I know I’ll have to reread some of my favorites of hers while I wait!

ARC Review: Mister Romance by Leisa Rayven

I have to admit that I am a huge fan girl when it comes to Leisa Rayven! I love her books and with each new one that I read from her I tend to want to savor them, yet at the same time I find that impossible! It seems like once I start reading them I am unable to stop myself and usually end up finishing in one sitting. Mister Romance was no exception, and I just cannot recommend Leisa's books enough.

With her job on the line, Eden knows she needs a big story. When she hears about a sexy male escort making the dreams of rich and prominent women come true, she knows that he is the story she has been looking for. She hunts him down, determined to expose him and his clients, but Max offers her everything she is looking for in exchange for three dates with him. He will answer all her questions and even give her his client list, but if he makes her fall in love with him then she has to kill the story. Being a romance cynic, Eden believes there is no way that she will fall in love with Max. But as they spend more time together and she starts to get to know the real Max and not just the characters he plays, she finds her walls starting to crumble. 

I loved these two. At first I will admit that I wasn't sure of Max. I liked him and it was clear that he was sexy and capable of playing just about any role to win a woman over. But I really didn't like how things started here between these two, and I worried about his intentions. Luckily it didn't take long at all for him to win me over, and the more we got to see the more I fell right along with Eden. He might have had different characters, but with Eden it was clear to see that he wasn't able to really separate those and his true personality. He was himself with her in a way he wasn't with his clients. I really liked Eden as well. I wasn't entirely able to relate to her and she was really cynical and at times she frustrated me. But I understood her and I loved her drive and determination. These two had a ton of chemistry, but I was glad that things didn't happen quick between them. I really felt like their connection was real and genuine and a lot of that was due to the slow burn and the fact that they got to know one another and things progressed naturally. 

Overall, another fantastic book from Leisa Rayven! I liked the characters and the story, and I think fans of hers will love this one as it is everything I have come to know and love from her. Leisa Rayven is a truly talented writer that has a unique way with words that I haven't seen from anyone else. If you haven't read anything from her before, you are definitely missing out! I have loved everything I have read from her and she never disappoints! Trust me when I tell you that she is an author that you need to be reading!

Review: Bad Romeo Christmas by Leisa Rayven

I am a huge fan of Leisa Rayven and this series is one of my all time favorites! I couldn't wait to get more of my favorite characters, and Leisa Rayven definitely didn't disappoint. If you haven't read the Starcrossed series yet, you will want to start there though as this book is three novellas about three different couples from the series and will spoil the previous books. For fans of the series though, this is a must read!

The three novellas feature Ethan and Cassie, Liam and Elissa, and Josh and Angel. Ethan and Cassie's first Christmas with the hold family is approaching and they are both trying to make it perfect when Ethan's past suddenly reappears. Liam and Elissa have been apart for months and are looking forward to being reunited when their Christmas away from the public eye turns into a nightmare. Josh and Angel are ready to celebrate the new year, but with everything going on around them things don't go according to plan.

I love all these characters and honestly was so glad for a check in with them. This is one of those series that I really just never want to end. I love the characters so much that I am greedy for any tidbits that Leisa Rayven gives us. My absolute favorite is Liam and Elissa, but I truly love each couple in this series. The only reason this wasn't absolutely perfect to me was the fact that I am greedy when it comes to them, and I wanted more. It was so nice to see these characters living their lives and dealing with real world issues together, but it just made me hungry for more. I highly recommend this entire series as Leisa Rayven is a brilliant writer that knows how to write engaging stories filled with characters that you are instantly invested in. I really hope that she never stops writing, and revisits these characters again in the future.

ARC Review: Wicked Heart by Leisa Rayven

Alright first I have to say that I absolutely loved this book! I have been in such a slump lately, and this book pulled me right out! Wicked Heart by Leisa Rayven has left me with a huge book hangover, and the second I finished reading it I wanted to start all over and do it again! Wicked Heart is the third book in Leisa's Starcrossed series, but this book can be read as a standalone. The first two books are about Ethan and Cassie and while I loved them and they are on the top of my favorites list, Liam and Elissa actually topped them for me! I never thought that would be possible, but Leisa proved me wrong and her writing just gets better and better! 

Elissa Holt has only ever loved one man, and he broke her heart. Six years later, Liam Quinn is Hollywood's hottest star and has just been cast in the show she is managing. Not only is Elissa forced to see Liam again, but his gorgeous fiance is set to star in the show as well. Though both of them try to keep their distance, late night rehearsals have Elissa and Liam remembering everything they once shared and making it more apparent than ever that their feelings have never gone away. But with Liam engaged to someone else and Elissa scared of getting hurt again, they find themselves torn between what they have and what they have always wanted. Can they find a way back to one another, or is will their story end in tragedy?

I loved these two so much. I have to admit there were times that I was extremely frustrated with Liam here. I really thought that if he would have just talked to Elissa, so much heartbreak could have been avoided. I hated that these two had to go through so much hurt and it made me sad to think about all the time that they lost because of everything that happened. Yet as frustrated as I was, I really understood why Liam did the things he did. He really thought that he needed to do them and I admired his reasons even while I didn't like them. Elissa was amazing! She is the type of heroine that you read romance novels for. Strong and sassy, and so easy to like. She was funny and witty, and I loved that what you saw with her was what you got. Honestly she was so genuine and sweet that she is the type of girl you would love to have as your best friend. Not only that, but she was gorgeous and real, and I loved that she was described as curvy. She struggled with believing that she was beautiful at times, especially when faced with Angel, but I was so glad that she had those in her life that reminded her that she was. Liam and Elissa had a ton of chemistry and I honestly couldn't get enough of them. The attraction and connection was there from their very first meeting and these two understood each other in a way that no one else did. 

Overall, I loved everything about this book. It was stunning and I was captivated from the very first page. Leisa Rayven is a truly talented writer and she has a way with words that is impossible to describe, but just needs to be experienced. I really didn't think it would be possible to love anyone more than Ethan and Cassie, but Liam and Elissa are absolutely my favorites! I have to say that I really loved the secondary characters here as well. Elissa's friend Josh and Liam's fiance Angel were just as amazing as Liam and Elissa. While it would have been so easy to hate Angel (and I will admit I kind of wanted to!), it was impossible! She was fantastic and I loved her. I really can't say enough positive things about this book, but this is a must read to me and I highly recommend it! If you are read the previous two books in this series, I think that you will love this one even though you don't get a ton of Ethan and Cassie here. But if you haven't read those yet, this is the perfect place to start and I think readers are going to love this book as much as I did! I can't wait to see what Leisa Rayven writes next!

ARC Review: Bad Romeo by Leisa Rayven

Bad Romeo is the first book in Leisa Rayven's Starcrossed Series and is the first part of Cassie and Ethan's story. Readers should be aware that it does end with a cliffhanger, with their story continuing in the next book, Broken Juliet. I will admit I was a bit skeptical going into this one after finding out that this story originally started off as Twilight fan fiction. I figured that we had been down that road before several times, and was worried that there wouldn't be anything new this time around. That was not the case here though. I really loved Leisa's writing style and I thought that this one was really refreshing. That isn't to say that I didn't have issues with this one, because I did. But I really thought that this was a good start to their story, and I will definitely be reading the next book. 

Cassie Taylor and Ethan Holt met when auditioning for acting school. Their chemistry was instant so when they both wind up getting in, Cassie is ready to see what is between them. They get cast opposite one another as Romeo and Juliet, and their chemistry is stronger than ever. But Ethan pushes Cassie away, though she can tell that he is fighting what he is really feeling. Now six years later, life seems to be repeating for these two when they are cast as the leads opposite one another once again. But Ethan broke Cassie's heart twice in the past and she isn't sure that she can handle acting as though they are in love. Ethan knows that he hurt Cassie, and he has been suffering ever since. He is ready to show her that he has changed though, and will do whatever it takes to win her back. Will Ethan and Cassie be able to put the past behind them and take another chance together, or will they finally get the closure they need to be over once and for all? 

These two both really annoyed me at times, and yet I couldn't get enough of them! Ethan kept pushing Cassie away saying how much he would hurt her and that she shouldn't be anywhere near him. He felt like her heart wasn't safe with him, and so he hurt her before he could be in a relationship with her and hurt her? It didn't make much sense to me, but boy logic is usually like that. I didn't really think that it stood up though considering that once his past was revealed, it wasn't as big of a deal as I would have expected. Yes he had been hurt and I can get being a bit skeptical and unwilling to just offer trust right away, but Cassie was nothing like his ex and would never have done what she did to him. Cassie was pretty relentless when it came to pursuing Ethan, and while I admired her ability to never give up, it also came across as a bit pathetic as well. Here is this guy that keeps pushing you away, and she did not get a clue. She just kept going after him and laying it all out on the line for him. I kept waiting for her to walk away and make him come back groveling, but each time she gave in and it came off as though she was a doormat willing to take whatever Ethan would dish out. They had great chemistry, and their connection was really strong as well. The more they got to know one another, the more I could see a bond forming. It was really frustrating to see that and then to see them continue to fight the same things over and over. I really do believe that these two are meant to be together, which is why I was able to put up with the drama and angst and continue reading this one. If you are a reader that can't handle a lot of back and forth and angst, this one probably isn't for you.

The other thing that I had an issue with was the way this story began to unfold. While I really liked Leisa's writing, I found the transition between past and present to be jarring and at times very confusing. The story was similar enough in past and present that it was hard to tell at times when and where we were. I also felt like this book brought a lot of things up, but didn't really explain them. I am hoping that these will be dealt with in the second book, as we don't even really get to see what happened between these two to cause them to breakup twice. The fact that Ethan broke her twice is stated on more that one occasion, but we only get to see one time in this book, and even that is very brief and the circumstances surrounding the why and what happened following it were left unexplored. I will say that I couldn't put this book down though, and I really loved how funny and refreshing the dialogue was. There were a few times that Cassie's immaturity and age showed though, but I loved seeing these two interact and liked the banter between them. I really loved the secondary characters in this story, and I thought that they added so much. Besides the interaction between Cassie and Ethan, I really loved seeing them with their friends. I am looking forward to reading the next book, and I really can't wait to see what happens next for these two as well as hopefully getting more of their past explained.

ARC Review: Broken Juliet by Leisa Rayven

Broken Juliet is the second book in the Starcrossed series by Leisa Rayven and it is the continuation of Cassie and Ethan's story. This book is not a standalone, and should be read after Bad Romeo. While I really liked Bad Romeo, I absolutely loved Broken Juliet! This book was so good, and I honestly loved every bit of it. If you haven't read these books yet, they are definitely worth it! I will admit that they will put you on a bit of an emotional roller coaster, but to me the journey was one that I would take again in a heartbeat. 

Cassie Taylor had tried to move forward with her life for years, but was never able to fully move on after her ex Ethan Holt broke her heart twice. Then he was suddenly back in her life as they were cast opposite one another as leads once again. Not only was Ethan back, but Cassie quickly learned that he was determined to win her back once and for all. Ethan said that he changed, but Cassie had heard that before and knew that she needed to be careful to guard her heart. As Cassie and Ethan get to know one another again, she finds herself falling for him all over again. But can they have another chance to be together, or will their insecurities and fears destroy them once and for all? 

I liked Cassie and Ethan in Bad Romeo, but I felt like we really saw so much growth and progress from each of them in Broken Juliet. They were older and more mature, but they had also been through so much. For Ethan, he had finally realized that his insecurities didn't need to hold him back and that he needed to stop self sabotaging. I was so glad that he had not only received help that he needed, but that he wasn't ashamed of it. He truly came to Cassie a changed man that was an open book, and I loved his honesty. He really laid himself bare before her, and it was exactly what he needed to do to show her just how far he had come. Cassie was more wary than ever, and I hated seeing her go backwards compared to what she once was. She had been hurt and was skeptical, and she had every right to be. But she also could see the good in Ethan and she had never really stopped loving him, even when she hated him. I was glad that Cassie got the help that she never knew she needed, because I think it really set her up to be happier than she could have been without it. She needed to face some things on her own just as Ethan had, and I think these two had a much stronger foundation for a relationship because they were willing to do what it took this time around. These two have always had amazing chemistry and an undeniable connection, but I really felt like we got to see just how much deeper that bond could be in this book.

Overall, this book was fantastic. In my opinion, I thought that it was much better than the first book. I had really liked Bad Romeo, but there were some issues for me with the shift in time. I felt like in that book it was a bit jarring and confusing at times, and it felt like a debut novel of an author with great potential. But this book was much more polished, with the transitions between past and present smooth and easy to follow. The book flowed really well, and I found myself shutting out the world as I devoured every word of Cassie and Ethan's story. Leisa Rayven has written a beautiful story with characters that are real and flawed, but that you can't help but fall in love with. I found my heart breaking for these characters at times, and then laughing out loud at others. Broken Juliet truly captivated me from the very first page, and it was everything that I could have hoped for and more. These books are a must read for me, and I think that readers will really love this emotional series. If you are looking for something sexy and funny that will give you all the feels, the Starcrossed series by Leisa Rayven is not to be missed!
