Ashlee was thirteen when she discovered her first Kathleen E. Woodiwiss book hidden away in her mom’s closet. After two days of staying home “sick” from school to finish it, she was hooked. Her rabid love for romance has continued ever since, and after a misadventure in the world of law, she finally settled into her dream job of writing about people finding their happily ever afters. Whether writing sweet contemporary romance or romantic thrillers and suspense, she aims to create down to earth heroines and heroes with small town heart.
As the last author to close out this fun summer blog theme, I think it’s only fitting I’m going to go to the dark side. Summer fun? I think I just broke out in hives.
Once the first week of enjoying sleeping in and homework free nights have passed, the pain ensues. Kids whining they’re bored and there’s nothing to do, forcefully slathering everyone up with 1000 SPF for any outdoor adventures, my writing time falling into a big black hole…needless to say, the countdown until it’s all over and I’m dropping them off at school again started yesterday.
Now that I’ve brought everyone down, I will spare a few words to share one of my favorite moments of summer (yes, despite my own whining, I don’t totally hate the season). A moment that helps get me through until the temperature drops and the kids are driving the teachers crazy instead of me. The smell of steaks grilling on the barbecue in the late summer evening, me chilling in the shade with a glass of wine. The kids actually laughing and playing together on freshly mown lawn as plotlines and images of scenes from the next book take form in my mind. That’s a perfect summer moment for me. =)
Am I the only one who is looking forward to the chilly days of fall? Leave a comment below on whether I’m crazy…or whatever you like, and a winner will be randomly selected for an ebook copy of my latest release LOVE YOU MADLY + a $5 gift card from Amazon.
Meredith Sanders was the golden girl in high school—a homecoming queen with a trail of worshipping minions. Now she's all grown up with a trail of failed marriages. The only good thing she has in her life is her brilliant and beautiful teenaged step-daughter...who's missing. But the best man for the job has a serious hate-on for her.
Back in high school, queen bee Meredith made Travis Brennan's life miserable. Since then, he's gone from class geek to a hardened, former SEAL, specializing in private security. As much as he wants to help Meredith's step-daughter, he can't help but clash with the gorgeous woman who once made his life hell.
But as they investigate the increasingly mysterious disappearance, their conflicted past threatens to turn into a very provocative present...

DeleteThanks Vanessa! And thanks for stopping by. :)
DeleteI like it better when the kids are back at school too. This year all three will be at college at the same time. I'm looking forward to being an empty nester.
ReplyDeleteWow! All three in college? That's kind of frightening in itself, LOL. Thanks for visiting.
DeleteYou're not alone! I definitely love the cooler temperature. One thing about summer that I love is the longer daylight. I have come to appreciate that a lot. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteThe longer evenings are pretty wonderful. Reminds me of playing outside as a kid well past bedtime because no one wanted to go inside.
DeleteThanks for coming by!
I'm actually not Summer's biggest fan as I'm not a heat person, but it does have it's good moments. BBQs and watching the kids have a blast would definitely be up there for me.
ReplyDeleteLove the sound of your story with the antagonism of the characters and the suspense element that show in the blurb.
I should have added I love the BBQs because it's the hubby standing over the hot flames instead of me. ;)
DeleteThanks so much for the kind comment and for stopping by!
Thanks for the giveaway. I prefer the cooler temperatures in Spring & Fall.
ReplyDeleteYep. I'm completely with you. :) Thanks for stopping by, Kim.
DeleteSounds great! Love the cover! Thank you for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jane! It's so pretty... Happy you stopped by. :)
DeleteThis book sounds and looks amazing. I'm looking forward to reading it :)
ReplyDeleteLori
Thanks, Lori! I'll cross my fingers you win the copy. ;)
DeleteYou are crazy. lol. I don't like the scorching heat we have in Missouri, but I am still over the cold of winter. So, I'm enjoying summer.
ReplyDeleteI know, my hubby thinks the same thing. I don't even mind the snow (maybe because our last few winters have been kind of a bust). Thanks for stopping by, Marcy, and I hope you have a long and relaxing summer.
DeleteLooks wonderful....just downloaded a sample :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cheryl! Hope you enjoyed so far. :) Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteThe book sounds great!
ReplyDeleteI also love grilling food in the summer, but I prefer the fall. Hot weather is not my friend.
Marcy Shuler
Thanks, Marcy! As a fair-skinned freckled gal, I tell my kids I'm practically allergic to direct sunlight all the time. Never was able to sit out in the sun and enjoy like my girlfriends, instead envisioning the splotches and red that would follow. :)
DeleteBeautiful cover!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lindsey, and thanks for coming by!
DeleteAs a teacher, I LOVE summer vacation! As a mom to a 9 year old & a 3 year old, I HATE summer vacation!! I need a summer vacation while they're otherwise occupied.
ReplyDeleteI just returned from vacation with my b-in-law who's also a teacher in Madison, WI, and he was pretty giddy to be out, lol. I completely support a long week vacation for you, without any kids--even your own! Big kudos for all you do!!!

ReplyDeleteThank you, and thanks for coming by!
DeleteYikes! So sorry for being absent today. Just got back from vacation and thought I was on tomorrow. *facepalm*
ReplyDeleteSo glad you all stopped by. :)
I too am looking forwrd to an autumn breeze. Sunshine is wonderful in small portions. Though eating icecream is nice it does affect the waistline... Fall is my favorite season and I'm counting the days :-)
ReplyDeleteWith temperatures all week at or above 100 degrees, I'm wistfully watching the calendar for September, LOL. Thank goodness for A/C, right?
DeleteI can relate to the 1000 SPF. No wonder we are becoming deficient in vitamin D.
ReplyDeleteAre we? Wonder if my brief foray out to water the veggie garden or to grab the mail counts for my vitamin D tally... :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by, Mary!
