But beyond that, she just loves getting to do what makes her happiest – live in a fantasy world, 95% of the time.

First off, can you tell us a bit about you?
This question always makes me so dang nervous. It’s so much easier for me to talk about fictional characters than to speak about myself. :) I love life. Love it with a passion. I love the big things and the little things. I love when the sun is shining, and when my nieces and nephews laugh. I love how beautifully my children have grown up and watching them as they have become assets to society. I love traveling for work and meeting interesting people and getting new ideas to write about. And I love animals. I have two miniature horses that always make me smile when I’m around them, and 4 dogs who I have to sit on the floor with for at least a half hour when I’ve been away from home for a few days. Life is amazing, and I’m so happy to live it to the fullest. Oh, and I am obsessed with country music, and go to every concert I can :)

Did you always want to be a writer?
No. I didn’t think it was a possibility. I grew up very poor and one of my greatest joys as a kid was going to the library and checking out books. I never ever thought I would one day be in them. I can’t express how it makes me feel when I walk into a store or library and see my books sitting on those shelves. I wrote from the time I was little, but never thought I would make it a career. Something I’ve never actually answered in a questionnaire is my first publication. I need to find it. It’s from the 6th grade and after outdoor camp, we made a newspaper. Sure, only the other 6th graders saw it, but I really got into that project. Now, I’m on a mission to find it. :)

What kind of writer are you? Panser or Plotter?
I’m a bit of both. Sometimes I plot things out, but that usually doesn’t work out for me as I change my mind, and my characters don’t tend to do what I want them to do. So I usually give myself a general outline, knowing them major plot points, and then I allow myself free for all as I write.

Where do your ideas come from?
Everywhere!! I just spoke about this at a conference. I go to the stores, the parks, the mall, concerts, starbucks, everywhere and I people watch. I see how people interact, how children play, how employees interact with each other and customers, and I use that information. I also sit down with friends and family (with a bottle or 3 of wine) and we let story ideas float around. My job is amazing because I get to have a great time with those I love and then I get to write about. It doesn’t get better than that.

A la Twitter style, can you describe your book (or series) in 140 characters or less.
Sexy attorney doesn’t let his childhood love escape, especially when he knows he’s the only one who can save her.

What are some of your favorite kinds of stories to read?
Romance of course, and my second favorite is apocalyptic books. I love imaging what it would take to survive when we don’t have all the modern conveniences we take advantage of. Just read an incredible new series, The MacClain Appocalypse, and I’m eagerly awaiting the next book out in the series. So dang good!!

Do you have a favorite book and if so what is it?
No. There are so many books out there I have read, and I still want to read, that I have thousands of favorites. Any book that I can’t put down is my favorite. I read Stephen King’s “Under the Dome” in 2 days and it’s over a thousand pages. I did nothing but read and sleep (and I didn’t sleep much)

What are the scenes that are the hardest for you to write? Why?
Tough question. I think sex scenes are getting the hardest for me to write. I have over 30 books now and that’s a lot of sex scenes. I love the lead up to them, but sometimes I wonder if I will need to do a sex scene on the monkey bars at a playground … hmmm, ideas :)

If you could have dinner with any three authors, who would you choose and why?
I would choose Ruth Cardello, J.S. Scott and Lynn Raye Harris because I love them to pieces and whenever we get together we laugh and talk about our families and unwind. Sometimes weeks or even months go by where nothing else in life is talked about but work. It’s wonderful to have those moments with someone else as passionate about your work as you are who can also set it aside and just laugh.

Last question, are you working on anything right now?
haha, I love this question. I have work assigned for the next 2 years straight. I’ve been working on “Becoming Elena” which has made me cry more than a few times while writing it. It’s a darker story that has so many real elements to it that it tears me up a little inside. When I’m finished with that, I will be finishing up my “Billionaire Pilots” series. I do want to work on my mystery thriller when I get some extra time. That one is a great stress relief for me.

Thanks so much for having me today!! I really appreciate it. Bloggers are amazing.

  11. I'd have to say, I'd like to see a family of girls with one brother.....Most of the books I read have a family of boys with one sister who they're extremely overprotective toward.

  13. I have the imagination of a toad, so I will leave the suggestions to the pros. I do like romances with strong main characters, both male and female. Humor is also fun to find in a book.
