My Favorite Things Event with Christina Lauren

Christina Lauren is the combined pen name of long-time writing partners Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings, the bestselling authors of the Beautiful Bastard and Wild Seasons series, Sublime and The House. Dating You/Hating You will be released in June.

Christina Lauren 5 Favorite things during a writing deadline

Favorite drink to get to that next word count:

Lauren: Daytime - La Croix plain sparkling water. Evening - Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc is my vice

Christina: LOL There's nothing that helps me get the words in and since I don't really drink (snore) my fave is Pomelo San Pellegrino.

Favorite Spot in the house to write:

Christina: I like to pretend I can write other places but I can really only concentrate at the Mac in my office.

Lauren: My office, and later in the day I like to work at my treadmill desk upstairs

Favorite writing program to keep us on track:

Christina: I do my drafting in Word, but after a rough year I had to be creative when it came to staying focused. I started using an app called Forest (you set focused amounts of time and it plants little trees. Stay on task and your forest grows, dick around and you kill it all), Focus@will (lyric-less music designed for specific tasks), and Checky (daily count of how often you check your phone).

Lauren: Excel spreadsheets - they're my addiction

Favorite distraction during a deadline:

Lauren: I'm not living until I have a deadline. Not having the deadline is the distraction. I wish I had an answer that felt more whimsical but I am best when I am allowed to be a robot.

Christina: OMG Lauren and I are so yin and yang it's lulzy. I am a ball of frazzled nerves during deadlines while she is laser focused. I get blurry-eyed after long days at the computer so I love audiobooks and podcasts. And also Harry Styles' dimples. *tips hat*

Favorite snack:

Christina: I've learned an important lesson: don't eat at your desk. I'm rarely strong enough to stick to this but I've found that if I tie writing into munching on something specific I get to a point where I NEED it and it's downhill from there.

Lauren: Parmesan goldfish crackers and Extra toasty cheese-it's. They're both the devil's candy.

All’s fair in love and work. The first standalone romance by New York Times and #1 international bestselling author Christina Lauren (Beautiful Bastard) is a sexy, compulsively readable romantic comedy that dives headlong into the thrill and doubt of modern love.

Despite the odds against them from an embarrassing meet-awkward at a mutual friend’s Halloween party, Carter and Evie immediately hit it off. Even the realization that they’re both high-powered agents at competing firms in Hollywood isn’t enough to squash the fire.

But when their two agencies merge—causing the pair to vie for the same position—all bets are off. What could have been a beautiful, blossoming romance turns into an all-out war of sabotage. Carter and Evie are both thirtysomething professionals—so why can’t they act like it?

Can Carter stop trying to please everyone and see how their mutual boss is really playing the game? Can Evie put aside her competitive nature long enough to figure out what she really wants in life? Can their actor clients just be something close to human? Whether these two Hollywood love-hatebirds get the storybook Hollywood ending or just a dramedy of epic proportions, readers will get to enjoy Christina Lauren’s heartfelt, raucous, and hilarious romance style at its finest.

  8. I live in a big city. Some weekends I love to go out and playtourist alpng with the hundreds of other people visiting and other weekends I love going to the hidden farmers markets that are only visited by locals. Either way depends on my mood
