Guest Post with Author Shannyn Schroeder and Giveaway

Shannyn Schroeder is a former high school and middle school English teacher. She holds a BA in English and MAs in Special Education and Gifted Education. She currently works as an editor for an education company and juggles writing around her kids’ schedules. In her spare time, Shannyn loves to bake and watches far too much TV, especially cop shows. She started her first book on a dare from her husband and has never looked back. She came to reading romance later than many, but lives for the happy ending, and writes contemporary romance because she enjoys the adventure of new love.

Her Perfect Game – Meet the Heroine

Charlie (Charlotte) Castle is the heroine of Her Perfect Game. I absolutely loved writing Charlie. She’s the kind of girl I’d like to have as a friend. Not only is she honest and funny, but she’s also really smart. Of the Hot & Nerdy girls, Charlie is the computer geek. She plays video games and is a hacker.

Three years ago, Charlie’s roommate committed suicide after an ex-boyfriend posted some revenge porn. Charlie wanted vengeance. She learned how to hack to go after this guy. In her quest to learn, she met and fell in love with Jonah Best, who taught her everything she needed to know about hacking. But Charlie became a little obsessed with getting even, and when he graduated, Jonah left. Charlie was heart-broken, but used Jonah’s leaving as a wake up call to fix her life.

Now, three years later, she’s determined to get back on track. She’s dropped out of college, but is doing everything she can to land a job in the video game world, including using her hacking skills to network.

Although Charlie is feeling good about herself these days and thinks she has a shot at winning the hackfest at a local con, running into Jonah puts an odd spin to everything. She’s still attracted to him and wants him as much as she did three years ago. The problem is, she believes Jonah thinks she’s a loser. She figures she can have a fun weekend with him and as long as she guards her heart, she can walk away like he did.

Of course, nothing works out that easily, and Charlie finds herself more comfortable than she should be with Jonah. They still have great chemistry and she feels relaxed and at home with him. She even starts to believe they might have a shot at something more, but her own insecurities mess things up.

The thing I enjoyed most about writing Charlie is that she likes to have fun. Whether it’s starting a fight in a video game or dressing up as her favorite character during a con or making friends at a Joss Whedon panel, she knows how to have a good time. Everyone should have a friend like Charlie.

Spring break is supposed to be a week of fun in the sun for three childhood friends about to graduate from college. But one of them is ready to get her game on somewhere else…

Charlie Castle is an expert archer and a fierce warrior—in her favorite video game, anyway. But college life was a program she couldn’t quite master. To land a cybertech job without a degree, she’s entering a “hackfest” over spring break—where she also hopes to meet the sweet gamer who’s been flirting with her online. Instead, she runs into the hot guy who walked away years ago, and can’t fight the desire that comes rushing back.

Jonah Best has never gotten over Charlie, whose kisses were always as deliciously creative as her coding. But now that they’re face to face again, he doesn’t know how to admit that her online admirer is really him—or how to convince her that he’s offering her a job for her incredible skills, not her sex appeal. Can Jonah cut through their communication glitches and persuade Charlie that the next level up for them should be forever?
