ARC Review: Bound by Jennifer Foor

Bound is the fifth book in the Seven Year Itch series by Jennifer Foor. Each book in this series is a standalone story, so don't worry about reading this one if you haven't read the previous books. I love this series, and each one is unique and different. I will tell you that this series isn't for everyone, and it does deal with some subjects at times that people might struggle with including cheating and struggles with marriage. But I really do enjoy each of these books, and to me each of these books is worth the read.

After seven years of marriage, Macy Stone finds herself throwing in the towel and starting over. She no longer recognizes the person she has become and she knows that her relationship was never the right fit if she is honest with herself. The one thing that has got her through the tough times though were here fantasies of her boss, Bennington Winthrop. Now that her relationship is over, Ben has made it no secret that he wants Macy. But Ben's desires and lifestyle are something that Macy isn't sure she can handle. Can Ben help her unlock her desires to become the woman he knows lies beneath her surface and accept who she really is?

I will admit that I struggled at first with Ben. He was a jerk right away and I wasn't sure that I was going to be able to like him. I understood that he was pushing Macy, but it rubbed me the wrong way. Luckily as the story continued though, that began to change. It was clear that he cared about Macy and was struggling a bit with how much he felt. He found himself in unfamiliar territory and wasn't sure how to handle that. But he was good for Macy and I felt like his intentions were good towards her. Macy was finally beginning to see that she might have been comfortable, but she wasn't truly happy. Ben was good for her and I felt like she was really good for him. They fit well together and had strengths where the other was weak. The chemistry between them was there from the start, and these two were super hot together. I really enjoyed seeing them explore their desires together and see what the growing connection between them meant.

Overall, another great installment in this series. Being happily married, this series can sometimes be hard to get through because of the content. But I think that a lot of that is because anyone that is married knows that each relationship takes work and that there are always issues that a couple will face. I think that is also what makes this series so real though, because the way these men and women are feels so genuine and their problems are ones that many face. I really felt like Ben and Macy were the right match for each other, and I couldn't put this book down. Jennifer Foor is a great writer and I recommend her books if you haven't read them before. This series is one of my favorites of hers and I can't wait to see what she writes next.

ARC Review: Moth by Jennifer Foor

I am a huge fan of Jennifer Foor's, so when I saw she had a new book coming out I couldn't wait to read it! The blurb drew me in, and I was so excited for Moth. While there were things I liked here, I had mixed feelings on the story as a whole. This wasn't exactly what I had been expecting and there were some things that I struggled with here.

After a mission gone wrong and his brother being found dead, DEA agent Timothy "Moth" Douglas is determined to get to the bottom of everything that has happened. He will do whatever it takes to make those involved pay for his brother's death. Needing to get close to those that knew his estranged brother, Moth goes undercover as a college student. He knows that Windy Lewis has information that he needs and he knows that she is lying based on what he has discovered and the story that she told the cops. But what starts out as him getting closer to her for information quickly turns into more when he finds himself unable to avoid the pull she has on him. The more their connection grows, the more he begins to wonder if she will be his downfall and if it will come down to him having to choose between justice for his brother or love.

I loved that we got Moth's POV here, and I really enjoy stories that are told from the hero's POV. I find it just gives an interesting twist to romance novels. But while I enjoyed this one being told that way, I also felt like we never fully got to know the heroine here. She just felt surface deep, and I wanted more. Because of that, I wasn't able to feel connected to her or invested in the story the way I would have liked. There was definitely heat and chemistry between them, but I just wanted something deeper. I will say that I thought Jennifer Foor absolutely nailed Moth's character though. He was crude and crass, and it was so authentic and believable. While some might have a problem with that, I thought that it was so perfectly done and felt so genuine to the character that I loved it.

My biggest issue though was that I had a tough time getting into this book. The first half had some promising moments and I knew that there was a ton more to this story was a bit slow to draw me in and I kept losing interest. It felt slow and overly detailed in a way that focused on telling rather than showing. It just didn't have a lot to hold my interest, despite the fact that I wanted to know more. While the story did eventually pick up and there were twists and turns here that definitely took me by surprise, this book wasn't my favorite of Foor's. I think that there are a lot of readers that will enjoy the story, but this wasn't a personal favorite of mine. If you are a fan of romantic suspense and like books told from the male POV this one is worth giving a shot. I really enjoy Jennifer Foor's books, so this won't be the last I read from her.

ARC Review: Because by Jennifer Foor

Because is the fourth standalone story in Jennifer Foor's Seven Year Itch series. I have really enjoyed this series and I think part of what I love is that these books feel so genuine. These are couples struggling with life after they got their HEAs, and I love that Jennifer Foor has given us a look at what real life is like after marriage. Things aren't always rainbows and sunshine and relationships take a lot of work. I love seeing how she shows each of these couples hitting these low points in their relationships and then working to come back from that.

Shayla Vincent has been married to her high school sweetheart for seven years. They got pregnant at a young age and got married to try to make things right and raise their daughter together. Though they do love each other, things have never been perfect in their relationship. Brandon isn't the man she needs him to be, and Brandon is tired of feeling like all Shayla does is nag. Shayla knows that something has to give, but will her leaving and asking for a separation be what mends their relationship or breaks it?

I really felt for Shayla here. She had some insecurities about her body that Brandon didn't help at all, and she was doubting his fidelity after she found out that he had been talking to women online. Brandon constantly went out with his friends leaving both her and their daughter at home. For someone who said that his daughter was his top priority, he definitely didn't seem to hold up to that. I understood exactly why Shayla was so frustrated, and honestly she had every right to be. I understood that she loved Brandon and wanted to make things work, but I also had a really hard time seeing how she could want to keep trying after all he had done. Brandon was a straight up jerk for a lot of this book, and I honestly wanted to hit him more than once. I kept hoping he would get better and redeem himself, and while he did improve, I still had a hard time ever liking him.

As much as I struggled with Brandon, I did like this story. Jennifer Foor has such a way of drawing you into her books and I never want to put them down. I love the angst and emotion that she brings to each story, and I think that is especially true with this series. Jennifer Foor is one of those authors that I immediately jump at the chance to read, and I always look forward to seeing what she will come up with next. I am already anxiously awaiting her next release. If you like some angst with your romance, I highly recommend giving Jennifer Foor's books a shot. Her stories aren't easy and the journey is often a bit rough, but each one I have read from her has been well worth it and I definitely can't wait to get my hands on more from her.

ARC Review: Frigid Affair by Jennifer Foor

Frigid Affair was previously published in a limited edition box set as a short story, but Jennifer Foor has revised and expanded the story to be a full novel. Since I am a huge fan of hers, I couldn't wait to read this story. The blurb really sold me on this story though, and I couldn't wait to read it!

After a tragedy took everything from her, Amantha headed to Alaska to start over. She needed a place that wasn't a constant reminder of everything that she had lost, and living off the grid gave her a way to move forward. But when a winter storm and another tragedy bring her a handsome stranger, she decides to make the most of it. What Amantha thought was a one night stand is quickly realized to be more when the man she spent the night with shows up on her doorstep two years later.

I liked the characters in this story and I felt badly for both of them. They had been through so much and that had changed their lives forever. In each other they were able to find a connection that they hadn't felt with anyone else, and I knew if they could get past everything that they would help one another heal. While I did like them together, I didn't feel entirely invested in them. I had a tough time connecting with them, and felt like there was just something that wasn't clicking for me. They were likable enough characters, but there was just something that kept me from really getting into their story. Part of that could have been the length of the story, as I felt like there was a lot of this book that they weren't together. I think had I seen more of them getting to know one another and spending time together without all of the past issues getting in their way that I might have felt differently. They definitely had chemistry though, and I did believe that these two cared about each other.

Overall, I liked this book but I didn't absolutely love it. I wanted to connect more with the characters and story, but I just wasn't able to. This book had such a different feel than what I have previously read from Jennifer Foor, and I think that her taking it from a short story to a full novel might have hurt it somewhat. It didn't feel as though it was entirely complete or pieced together correctly since we didn't get much of these two actually together. It almost felt like the story had been spliced together and didn't flow as well as her stories normally do. It was still good, but I think this book had the potential to be so much more. I will admit that I never saw the twist coming, and that is why I have been vague here about the story and characters themselves. I don't want to spoil anything since I was really shocked by everything that happened. I absolutely love Jennifer Foor's books though this wasn't my favorite, and I know I will read more from her in the future. I love how different and unique her books are, and I always know that anything I read from her will be unlike anything I have read before.

ARC Review: Belong by Jennifer Foor

I cannot even begin to describe how excited I was when I found out what characters would be getting their story in Belong. The minute I got the cover and read the blurb, I could not get my hands on this book fast enough! Jennifer Foor is a great writer and I really enjoy her stories, but I have to say that her Seven Year Itch series is one of absolute favorites. These stories are not for everyone, and I will caution readers that have issues with cheating to consider if these books are for them. I have loved them though, and they are books that never leave my mind for long. As much as I have loved each of the books so far though, this one was my favorite. For those readers that are new to this series, this book can be read as a standalone though I would recommend at least reading Bereft first as these characters are featured there first. Fans of the series will be excited to see familiar faces and I really believe that this is a must read for anyone that has read Bereft.

Ten years ago, Chad fell in love with Rachel. While to most that wouldn't be a problem, Rachel was married. Walking away so that she could be happy and he could try to move on, Chad focused on his career and eventually married someone else. Though he now has a child with his wife, something has always been missing, and things are getting worse and his marriage is failing. Just as things appear to be as bad as they can get, Chad has to return home to bury the man who raised him. But when he finds himself once again around Rachel, he is forced to face the fact that his feelings for her have never gone away.

While I loved Bereft and was happy to see Rachel and Grayson work things out, it was a very bittersweet ending for me because I loved Chad so much! I had always thought that Chad and Rachel would have been so great together, and I really loved how their relationship had evolved in Bereft. These two didn't really get along at first, but as their friendship grew so did their connection. It was never a matter of if these two cared about one another, and their chemistry was off the charts! Chad was such a good guy and I loved him for Rachel, so it was really good to see these two find one another again after so long apart. So much had changed for each of them, and it was really interesting to get to see how each of them had grown and evolved over the ten years since we saw them last. Rachel and Chad are some of my all time favorite characters, and I devoured every bit of their story.

Overall, I absolutely loved this story and getting more of these characters. This book absolutely broke me at times, but Jennifer Foor also put me back together piece by piece. The one thing that I can tell you is that Jennifer Foor loves her angst and there are times that her books will rip your heart out. But I can also tell you that she has a way of healing everything as well, and giving the reader as well as the characters a happy ending that is very satisfying. Belong is one of my favorite books I have read from Jennifer Foor and might actually be my favorite of hers ever. It is so hard to pick just one though, and I reserve the right to change my mind whenever I feel like it! If you like to torture yourself with angst at times like I do, I highly recommend anything written by Jennifer Foor. But even if you aren't a huge fan of angst and are somewhat skeptical before diving in here, I would still recommend giving her books a chance as they are well written, unique, and ultimately full of love and emotion. Belong is a must read book to me, and I can honestly say that I cannot wait to read more from Jennifer Foor.

Feature: Bereft by Jennifer Foor

We'd been married seven years, and for the most part, I thought we were happy. Little did I know my other half wasn't. He'd been screwing around on me for the past six months. Now, on the verge of divorce, I've found myself in a conundrum.

He's half my age, with a body that won't quit. I keep telling myself it's payback, but who am I kidding? Instead of getting even, I've now made things irreparable. I have a choice to make, and it's going to be a lot harder than I imagined.

ARC Review: Bereft by Jennifer Foor

Bereft is the second book in the Seven Year Itch series by Jennifer Foor, but each book is a complete standalone. This series is definitely a guilty pleasure type of read for me, because the content is one that would typically be a no go for me, yet with Jennifer Foor penning these stories I can't get enough! As angsty and heartbreaking as they are, I just can't put them down and I absolutely devour them. That being said though, readers should beware that these books do deal with infidelity and cheating before reading.

Grayson and Rachel were best friends who had been married for 7 years. For the most part they lived a happy life, but they weren't exactly in the honeymoon stage anymore. Both had jobs that kept them from home more often than not, and soon things were becoming a bit strained. But when Rachel's job begins to fall apart, she went to lean on her husband and instead found him with someone else. After learning that the affair had been going on for six months and on the verge of a divorce, Rachel finds herself drawn to a man she never expected. Not only is he the last person she should like, but he is half her age. But when things turn from just sex to more, she begins to wonder what the next step for her life is. Grayson knows that he messed things up though, and he will do anything he can to win back Rachel. But is it too late to fix that which they have both irreparably damaged?

Just like with the first book in this series, I have to admit that there were times that I really didn't like these characters. Grayson and Rachel each made me very angry at times, and I thought that they both acted with little thought. They were selfish at times, and both of them wanted to place blame on each other. They didn't really seem to be able to talk much without going around in circles, and honestly that was what they needed most. Grayson might have been the first one to cross the line, but they both did wrong here. Though I wanted them to work things out, I felt as though they both needed to own up to things a bit more. The one thing that I absolutely loved here was Chad. He was such a great guy, open and honest, and by far the most mature adult of the bunch. He definitely deserved more than what he got, and I did feel badly for him. Though I wanted Grayson and Rachel to wind up together, it was hard to see things between Chad and Rachel end. They were great together, and I felt like their connection was real. It wasn't what she had with Grayson, but it was genuine and couldn't have been easy for them to walk away from.

Jennifer Foor's books are such roller coaster rides for me, and my emotions are always all over the place with them. They are sexy and at times sweet, yet angsty and heartbreaking. The one thing that it is safe to say is that with anything she writes, you always need to expect that the journey will not be an easy one. But I really like the raw and realistic way that Jennifer Foor shows relationships. Things aren't always a fairytale, and relationships require a ton of work. We are only human and we make mistakes, and I feel like she shows that better than most. Relationships are messy, but love is worth it and Jennifer Foor always shows what true love and forgiveness really means. Though these books aren't for everyone, I would definitely recommend giving them a shot. I am looking forward to more from Jennifer Foor in the future, and I cannot wait to see what she writes next.

ARC Review: Twinsequences Ivy by Jennifer Foor

Twinsequences Ivy is the second story in the Twisted Twin series from Jennifer Foor. This is a very short follow up to the first book in the series, and cannot be read as a standalone. If you haven't read Twinsequences Willow, you will need to start there. This 99 page novella picks up after the events of the first book, with Ivy locked up after everything she did to Willow and Stoshua. Willow and Stoshua have moved away and changed their names, hoping to finally be free of Ivy. But Ivy is determined to get what she has always wanted, her sister Willow's life.

In the first book we got to see Willow's POV and everything that Ivy had put her through. But this time around we are inside Ivy's head, and it was even crazier than you could imagine! This girl was not right, and after reading the first book I had hoped that there was something redeemable about her. Seeing how Ivy thought though and what really went on in her head was beyond what I could ever have imagined. I won't get into too much here so as not to spoil the story, but this girl is flat out insane.

Overall, this one was short and gave readers a look into what happened after the first book. While there wasn't a lot here, it was nice to see how things played out. I wish there had been a bit more after the last chapter though. There was an epilogue, but I still wanted to see down the road for these characters after everything had happened. I just felt like things were a bit too rushed and abrupt for everything that they had been through. This series is unlike anything I have read before though, and I think that Jennifer Foor did a great job giving readers something new and unique. Jennifer Foor is a great writer, and I always know that she will give the reader a great story.

Review: Twinsequences by Jennifer Foor

I am a huge fan of Jennifer Foor's so I jumped at the chance to read Twinsequences from her. I knew going in this one would be different after reading the blurb, and I can honestly say that this one was quite the wild ride. This is unlike anything I have read from Foor before, and I don't even really know where to begin as far as classifying this book or explaining without giving away everything. So this review is mostly going to be about how I personally felt, rather than what happened. The one thing I will tell you though is that this book has romance, but it is also full of suspense and drama.

Ivy and Willow are twins. They were best friends all through their childhood, until they reached high school and everything changed, Willow never expected for her sister to be the one to steal away her happiness and future when she went after the boy that Willow was in love with. Willow left town with her broken heart, and four years have now passed. Willow missed her two best friends, but she couldn't stomach being around them knowing that they were now married and living the life that should have been hers. But when she receives a call in the middle of the night from Ivy saying she needs help, Willow knows she would do anything for her sister even if it means returning home and coming face to face with the man she will never have, Ivy's husband Stoshua Wheeler. But when Ivy asks her to pretend to be her and do whatever it takes to keep Stoshua from figuring out she's actually Willow, Willow begins to wonder just what Ivy is up to.

I hated Ivy instantly. Part of that was because this was clearly Willow's story and since it is told from her POV we get to see everything that she has been through. But there was something about Ivy that instantly told me she wasn't up to any good. Even when they were kids, it just felt like something was off. I liked Willow, but her loyalty and devotion to her sister after everything was something that I flat out didn't understand. The more she learned about everything, the more she started to see what had been happening all those years that she was unaware of. Yet she still wanted to believe the best in Ivy and continued to run to her at the drop of a hat. I didn't get it, and frankly she should have been running in the opposite direction as far as I could tell, no matter what her family or anyone else thought. I liked Stoshua, but he wasn't without his own blame here. There were many things that he did that really pissed me off, and I wish that he had been more honest with Willow both in the past and in the present. I felt like these two needed to talk to one another more and after everything that they had been through I didn't get why they continued to make decisions or act without talking to one another first. The one thing that was clear though is that the connection and chemistry between Willow and Stoshua was one that had endured no matter what they had been through. They loved one another in a very deep and true way, and I really felt like their feelings had never diminished over the years apart.

Overall, I really want to go into more about this book but I can't without spoiling anything and this is one of those books that you just have to experience. I do wish that we had been given Stoshua's POV as I think that it would have added so much to this story! I wanted to see what he was thinking and feeling as everything played out here. I have never met a character like Ivy before, and honestly I hated her right from the start. She is one of those that you just love to hate. You want to believe that with the right amount of help and love that she can change, but honestly I just don't see it happening. She is completely certifiable, and yet I do see some of what made her become the way she is. Though I don't condone anything she has done, I think that Jennifer Foor did a great job of showing how in her mind how she got to the point she is at. It will definitely be interesting to see what happens in the next book, and I already know that it is going to be another crazy ride for all these characters. While this book isn't for everyone and is very outlandish, I took it for what it was and found myself getting lost in all the crazy twists and turns. If you are looking for something realistic, I don't think that this book would be for you. The amount of crazy and out there circumstances for everything to happen here would never be something typical in real life, but if you are looking for something wild and different and very much like a crazy soap opera, this is one worth giving a shot!

ARC Review: Happily Ever Never by Jennifer Foor

I have to start off this review by saying that Happily Ever Never by Jennifer Foor probably brought on the most tears I have ever cried from reading a book. I am typically not a crier when it comes to books, and on the occasion that I do cry it usually isn't a lot. Going into this book though, you should have the tissues handy and probably some junk food/candy that you can use as a pick-me-up! With that being said, Happily Ever Never is also one of the best books I have read this year. Happily Ever Never is heartbreakingly beautiful, but it is also filled with love and hope. The best way to read this book is to go in blind, and just experience the story. Trust me when I tell you that although Jennifer Foor will wreck you, she is always great at putting you back together again.

Bailey finally felt like she was about to have all of her dreams come true. She was about to marry the man of her dreams and she was gaining a family she never dreamed she would have. Her life felt perfect, but then tragedy struck and she lost everything. With her planned future ruined, Bailey must find a way to pick up the pieces and move forward with her life.

I really felt for Bailey. There was so much love in this book, but there was also so much loss and heartbreak. Things were never easy for any of these characters and it was really hard at times. What I loved the most about this book though was that these characters were always there for one another. After everything that they were going through, you could tell that they all would do anything the could for each other. Though Bailey didn't get the life she planned, she was still a part of Major's family forever and I could not have loved them more for their unwavering love and support of Bailey. I also loved Bailey's best friend Shawna and how she always pushed Bailey when she needed it because she knew that Bailey would do the same for her. Bailey and Major had the kind of love that some people are never lucky enough to find, and they truly cherished it for the time they had it. I loved them together, but I also loved how strong Bailey was able to become after everything that happened. She knew she had to move forward and it was understandable that that wasn't a quick or easy thing for her to do. I was so glad that she had those around her to help her find her way.

I also loved that though Bailey thought she had lost everything, that this book was ultimately about hope. She was able to move forward and she found love in the most unlikely of places. Though she would never forget or stop loving Major, she was able to open up her heart and let others in as well. She found what she needed and was finally able to begin to heal and live her life again. This book was very emotional and I felt like it was so real. I felt for each character in this book, and I honestly loved them all. They might have had their moments, but I loved how things played out and that they all ended up exactly where they should be. I think Jennifer Foor did such a great job with such a tough set of circumstances, and I honestly cannot wait to read more from her in the future. I have become a huge fan of her books and while they are always filled with angst and some tough times, she always gives us a satisfying ending that feels right for the characters.

ARC Review: Binge by Jennifer Foor

I have become a fan of Jennifer Foor, so I couldn't wait to read a new book by her! Binge is unlike anything I have read before, including everything I have read by Foor. If you have read anything by Jennifer Foor, you know what an emotional storyteller she is. Her stories are always emotional roller coasters, and they are often tough at times to get through. That has never been more the case than with Binge. I find stories about struggling marriages hard at times being married myself. I am lucky that my husband and I have such a great relationship, so it always tears me up a bit to see things like what happened in Binge. This book is not an example of your sweet fairy-tale type of relationship, it is rough and messy and yet the fact that Aria and Flynn kept going back to one another showed that clearly they had something worth fighting for.

Flynn and Aria Roberts are struggling with their marriage. They were high school sweethearts that found themselves pregnant at 17. They got married and now 7 years later, they are constantly fighting. Flynn and Aria are at the point that they know if they can't figure things out soon, divorce will be the only answer. They have tried staying together for their daughter Emery, but it isn't healthy to remain together just for her. As Flynn and Aria seek outside help for their marriage, they begin to realize that each of them shares part of the blame for their crumbling marriage. But can the both make the changes the need to and be willing to open themselves up to what their partner needs for them, or will there be too much damage for them to overcome?

I have to say that this is the first time in a romance that I really didn't care for either of the main characters, and yet I was rooting for them anyways. These two had a ton of issues, and they both needed help individually as well as together. Aria was starting to lose her mind, she acted immaturely and lashed out at Flynn constantly. She had an almost irrational amount of jealousy directed at pretty much every female that crossed Flynn's path. But as the story continued, we find out that it wasn't exactly as irrational as we thought. Yes she did go a bit extreme, but she also had reason for her lack of trust in Flynn. Flynn would do things he knew would hurt Aria, and at times go out of his way to make her mad. He clearly loved both her and Aria, and yet he didn't really go out of his way to show them. These two had so many things that they needed to work on, and one of the biggest was communication. It was clear that they were internalizing so much when they should have been opening up to one another. They had a connection and chemistry that kept them coming back to one another, but they needed to figure out a way to work as a team rather than as individuals.

While I liked seeing these two begin to piece their marriage back together, I did have a tough time with this story. These two were all over the place, but I really felt like a lot of that was natural. They couldn't decide what they should do and what would be best for everyone involved. As they struggled to decide whether to throw in the towel or continue to fight, these two were truly awful to one another at times. I began to wonder if their relationship was too toxic for them to fight for. But they did love one another and that hadn't changed despite all the bad. I will say that this book is messy and there are things that will make some readers uncomfortable. If you have problems with a lot of angst and are not a fan of cheating, this story might not be for you. I do think that this book shows us a different side to relationships that often isn't seen in romance books. Sometimes relationships are hard and they require a lot of work, and that was definitely the case here. If you are looking for something that shows the struggles that a lot of couples face and something that isn't all hearts and flowers, I think this book is worth a read. Jennifer Foor always takes the reader on an emotional journey and it isn't always pretty. But I love that she always gives us something real and raw, and makes the reader examine things that aren't always the norm when it comes to stories in the romance genre. I will definitely be reading more from Jennifer Foor in the future.
