Interview with Author Roni Loren and Giveaway

Roni wrote her first romance novel at age fifteen when she discovered writing about boys was way easier than actually talking to them. Since then, her flirting skills haven’t improved, but she likes to think her storytelling ability has. If she’s not working on her latest sexy story, you can find her reading, watching reality television, or indulging in her unhealthy addiction to rockstars, er, rock concerts. Yeah, that's it. She is the National Bestselling Author of The Loving on the Edge series from Berkley Heat.

A la Twitter style, please describe your book (or series) in 140 characters or less.
Two dominant men, one determined woman. Is their love enough to get them to forever? Or will an unexpected turn tear them apart?

What types of scenes are your most favorite to write?
I love to write scenes that have high emotion. So that can be a love scene or an argument or a big revelation. When emotions are running high with the characters, the words seem to flood onto the page without effort. I also have a great time writing banter—the characters playfully teasing each other is so much fun to write, expecially when I have smart ass heroes like Jace.

What are the things that influence you the most as a writer?
Anything and everything honestly. News stories, books I read, shows or movies I watch, people I meet, places I go. I never know where my next inspiration is going to come from. Like just recently I got a story idea while watching Big Brother, lol. So even junk food TV can be productive for me. : )

Tell me, is there anything that we would be surprised to learn about you?
Hmm. Maybe that I didn’t grow up reading romance novels. I was always a heavy reader, but it was mostly horror and suspense throughout my teen years and college. I didn’t discover romance until adulthood.

Forever Starts Tonight is not the first story that Evan, Jace and Andre are featured in, what was it like for you to go re-visit these characters and their story?
So. Much. Fun. I told my husband that this project felt self-indulgent because I’ve wanted to spend more time with these characters since finishing Melt Into You—just for my own enjoyoment, lol. I mean, spending a month writing hot sex and romantic moments involving Jace and Andre? Yes, please. Luckily, based on all the emails I received, readers wanted that, too. So thank you giving me the chance to indulge!

Forever Starts Tonight is not your typical romance HEA, what was it like being in the heads of these three characters? Did you find their story more difficult to write?
Having three lead characters is always a challenge because you have to establish the relationship between all three and then each couple individually. So that is a lot to juggle. Plus, I’d never written an “after the happily ever after” story, so it was starting from a very different place than I normally am. But this one was easier in many ways, too, because I know these characters. I’ve already written an entire book about them, so it was like visiting with old friends instead of figuring out who each of them was while I write.

Please share 3-5 facts about Forever Starts Tonight or the characters that fans would be surprised to learn.
  1. This was supposed to be a 20-25k word story and ended up being 40k because I couldn’t stop writing about these three, lol.
  2. Jace is the only character in the Loving on the Edge series that shows up in EVERY single book and novella. He can’t keep quiet.
  3. The Tahoe location is inspired by a trip I took with the hubs about nine years ago. We got snowed in at a ski resort and had a car with no snow tires or chains (inexperienced Southerners). We ended up spending most of the vacation playing in the snow and watching movies in the cabin. Best trip ever. Though, our cabin was not nearly as swanky as the one in the book, lol.

If you could be in your own sexy 3-way, what two guys would you choose as your heroes?
Ha! Well, it would not hurt my feelings to switch places with Evan and steal Jace and Andre for the night. But I don’t think the hubby would appreciate that too much, lol.

I know you like to create playlists for your books, what song reminds you of these 3 the most that when you hear it, you are instantly transported into their story?
I can’t hear the song “You Tonight” by Lit without thinking of Jace. That is so his song. As for this book in particular, I like “Still Into You” by Paramore. I feel like the lyrics really fit for them because their relationship is so unique. Especially these lyrics:
It's not a walk in the park
To love each other
But when our fingers interlock,
Can't deny, can't deny you're worth it

Last question, what are you working on right now? Can you share any behind the scenes info? =)
Right now I’m finishing up edits on Nothing Between Us, which is Colby’s story. It comes out in January and is actually a menage romance as well. The first full length menage story I’ve written since Melt Into You. So I’m really excited about that one. It’s my longest book yet and the paperback will have a bonus story about Hawk and Christina (the college couple from Caught Up In You). So it’s going to be a big, thick book (which is totally appropriate for Colby—just sayin’) ;-)

READER QUESTION: Sometimes I feel like I have a bit of Clark Griswold in me when it comes to traveling. Have you ever had any vacation mishaps (like I did getting stranded in Tahoe)? What happened?

The wait is over. They fell in love in Melt Into You, but that was only the beginning. Now New York Times bestselling author Roni Loren dials up the passion as three lovers reinvent the meaning of togetherness and find out if love is truly enough…

Two dominant men, one beautiful woman. Jace Austin knows he doesn’t have what you’d call a conventional relationship with Evan and Andre, but it works. Boy, does it work—until Evan starts acting strangely and Andre’s ex-fiancĂ©e pops back into his life, unbalancing a perfectly happy threesome. Jace is forced to face the unthinkable: that the two people he cares most about in this world are in danger of slipping away from him.

So Jace plans a surprise getaway to a secluded mountain cabin for the three of them. And he knows exactly what he needs to do: give both his lovers a fantasy week they’ll never forget. And the possibilities for pleasure are endless. But when they get snowed in and the heat between them reaches a fever pitch, secrets come out. And Evan has one that could change all their lives forever.

  1. LOL! I grew up near Tahoe so I've been to the area many times. My Tahoe bad experience was a severe case of food poisoning from one of the casino restaurants. I had a miserable stay to say the least. I have eaten at that restaurant more than once before so that was a fluke happening. They reimbursed my meal and gave me a gift certificate for a free night's stay for the future so they did me right.

Love all the little snippets about the book. Good questions and answers! Looking forward to that thicker one coming for Colby.

    Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  3. Not on FB, so this will have to do.
Back in 1998, we were travelling home from western Canada to central Canada via the US. We stopped for gas along an interstate highway. When we returned to the highway, we had to cross two lanes of traffic, go through a little turning lane between, and then enter the other two lanes of traffic. Sounds easy enough. Except my door wasn't closed properly, and out went my gigantic travelling purse (which some people would use as a knitting bag) into the middle of traffic when we made that turn! Thankfully, there wasn't much traffic. We pulled over and my dear husband (of now 33 years) braved the traffic to retrieve not only my purse, but all of its scattered contents. Only one thing got ruined, so I was very lucky, but it has given my kids and us a lovely story to tell at my expense through the years.
