Wine lover, sleep fanatic, and USA Today Bestselling Author of sexy contemporary romance novels, Samanthe Beck lives in Malibu, California, with her long-suffering but extremely adorable husband and their turbo-son, Hud. Throw in a furry ninja named Kitty and Bebe the trash talking Chihuahua and you get the whole, chaotic picture.
When not clinging to sanity by her fingernails or dreaming up fun, fan-your-cheeks sexy ways to get her characters to happily-ever-afters, she searches for the perfect cabernet to pair with Ambien.
Big thanks to Dani for having me today at Ramblings, to talk about the annual excellence known as summer! I appreciate summer for many reasons, but this year especially because it means school’s out for three blissful months. Why would I care? I’ve been done with school a looooong time. At least I thought so, until my little guy started Kindergarten, and let me tell you, the homework almost crushed us. (And by “us,” I mean “me”). We (and by “we,” I mean “I”) had to solve math problems—some of which involved a concept called “subtraction,” which I’m sure I had a handle on at one point in my life but now might as well be nuclear physics—decorate a hand-print turkey, cut out snowflakes, make a Leprechaun trap, and read a bunch of books about some fuck-up named David. Kindergarten exhausted me.
With the burden of elementary academics off my shoulders, I looked forward to having time to read stuff I wanted to read. I recently got an advanced copy of Robin Bielman’s BLAME IT ON THE KISS and I could not wait to dive into what I knew would be a perfect summer read. I’d been looking forward to Honor and Bryce’s story since I read book 1 of Robin’s Kisses in the Sand series, KEEPING MR. RIGHT NOW.
So, a simple plan. Read a book. Here’s how that went down:
My reading window opens in the evening, after dinner. I grab the Kindle and sneak off to take a bath. I’ve just settled in to the fun, sexy first scene when there’s a knock at the door. “Honey, what’s the online banking password?”
“Um…” Jeez. I don’t know. That’s on autopilot—my fingers do the work, but my brain’s not involved. I have to mentally recreate the keyboard and pretend to type it in just to hazard a guess.
A few minutes later he’s back. “That’s not it.”
Damn. “You have to do this now?”
“How long are you going to be in there?”
Good point. I dry off, wrap the towel around myself and go type the password. Mission accomplished. I’m back in the tub when another knock interrupts Honor and Bryce’s blameworthy kiss. “Mommy, can I have the Kindle?”
“I’m using the Kindle. Play on your iPad.”
“I don’t have the game I want on my iPad.”
He’s got so much crap on the iPad, he can probably program a satellite with it at this point. “Play another game.”
“Mommy?”
“What?”
“I love you.” He shoves my old Paperwhite under the door. I haul myself out of the tub, and shove the Kindle Fire out to him. I get back in the tub, and turn on the Paperwhite. Dead battery.
Grrr.
I hope you have better luck than me. To make sure you’ve got some hot summer reading on deck, I’m giving away a $10.00 Amazon gift card, (which you should totally spend on Robin’s BLAME IT ON THE KISS, because I did manage to finish, and it was soooo gooooood), and an e-copy of my sexy, southern-fried Brazen, FALLING FOR THE ENEMY.
To enter, just tell me your favorite place to escape and read…because I’m looking for ideas!
Good luck,
xoxo

Caught between a rock and a rock-hard body…Salon owner Virginia Boca has declared herself celibate...at least until she wins the election for mayor of Bluelick, Kentucky. No hot men. No sex. And her plan to play the good girl might have worked—if the mysterious, hard-bodied stranger she’s seen around town hadn't pulled her from the path of a speeding car and saved her life. The least Ginny can do is offer her savior a free haircut. But when an innocent haircut turns into hours of wickedly hot sex, former Navy SEAL Shaun Buchanan knows his plan to keep a low profile is shot. Especially once Ginny finds out he’s the current mayor's son. With her reputation and the election on the line, Ginny seems determined to keep their nightly sexcapades a secret, but Shaun’s not willing to stay in the shadows forever…

My bed
ReplyDeleteAnywhere as long as I can shut out the world
ReplyDeleteI usually sit and read in my spot, on the recliner love seat. Sometimes, I will escape to our basement and curl up on a couch down there and read in peace.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place is at the beach under an umbrella, but I am happy to read just about anywhere.
ReplyDeletemy oversize chair and ottoman with my dog :) thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIn my comfy computer chair at my desk reading on my kindle app on my computer :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! Yeah, that sounds familiar. It's not so much reading that gets interrupted so much as every time I want to relax in the bath. I would say my chair out on the back porch in the summer and my big fluffy chair in the den in the winter. Interruptions still occur, but at least I don't have to get out of the tub to handle them. ;)
ReplyDeleteFalling for the Enemy sounds like a hoot. I'll have to grab that one.
Or win it, Sophia Rose!
DeleteI love to read at the beach and listen to the ocean waves crash on the shore!
ReplyDeleteI love to read anywhere I am! Wether it's on my couch, the beach. It doesn't matter where I am because my Kindle is always with me and I am always ready to read! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm most comfortable reading in my room.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the post and giveaway!
I read in bed.

I love my reclining love seat. Soft, comfy and in the air conditioning! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks again to Dani for having me at Ramblings today! I'm scrolling through everyone's favorite reading places and taking notes! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love my comfy couch for reading in.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was done with homework until I had children. It's NOT fair on parents.
On my couch snuggling with my puppies.
ReplyDeleteOn the sofa with a fluffy cushion and quilt. A really cozy corner to read my favorite books :-)
ReplyDeleteMy bedroom - nothing comfier than crawling between the sheets with a sexy hero!
ReplyDeleteIf I'm home, either my big comfy chair or outside in the shade. But my very favorite is at the beach on our porch or by the water :)
ReplyDeleteSamanthe, your story is hilarious!!!!
ReplyDeleteI actually lock myself in my bedroom and everyone knows not to mess with me.
I love reading on my bed at night. I just have to remember to be on the center so I don't drop my Kindle when I fall asleep.
ReplyDeleteI escape to my bed post bedtime to read in peace & quiet!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is my home office, surrounded by all my books. Really, I'll read anywhere, but that's where I read the most.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place is the beach. I am lucky enough to live close to several beautiful beaches. Normally, I spend a lot of time on the beach. This year, I am on a lot of immune-suppressant drugs and can not be in the water or in the sun, so pretty much I have to stay inside. The plus side is, I have gotten lots of reading done.
ReplyDeleteI like to read on the couch.
