RFTC I've Got a Secret Event with Author Tessa Bailey

The Siblings Steal My Show

Maybe it’s because my brother and I were born so far apart and never got a chance to bond as brother and sister (thanks a lot, mom), but I’ve always had a fascination with the sibling relationship. From my very first book, PROTECTING WHAT’S HIS, where my heroine’s wise-cracking, yet vulnerable as hell, seventeen-year-old sister stole everyone’s hearts, the siblings have always found a way to steal the show for me.

In CHASE ME, you might remember my hero, Louis, having twin sisters, lovingly referred to as the Twin Terrors who liked to show up at inopportune moments and make his life hell…or set something on fire. Ahem.

THROWN DOWN (out today - 4/4!) is a story about reunited lovers that never for a second stopped pining for one another. My hero spent four years not realizing he’d left his high school sweetheart with a child to raise and—rather determinedly—sets out to win back his family. Now, that storyline is a little on the heartbreaking side and I tend to write happier stories, so what did I do? I threw in four divorcee sisters (give me siblings or give me death!) all living in the same house, and made them unlikely babysitters. It went a long way toward taking THROWN DOWN from downright angsty to downright angsty, with a heaping side of laughter.

I can’t take total credit for this idea, although my divorcee sisters are definitely unique. Ever since I saw the Mark Wahlberg/Christian Bale movie, The Fighter, I’ve been obsessed with the idea of one brother having his own over-the-top supportive sister posse. He has SIX in the movie and they’re amazing. I adore the idea and I’m thrilled I got a chance to write it in THROWN DOWN and we get to see even more of them throughout the Made in Jersey series.

And last but not least, I’m so excited to tell you I’ve built a whole upcoming series around the idea of dysfunctional siblings. In Romancing the Clarksons, four estranged brothers and sisters set off on a cross country journey, each of them falling in love at a different stop along the way. It’s basically my heaven—and I hope you’ll join me on the trip!

He has one last chance to deserve the girl of his dreams...

Overachiever River Purcell was never supposed to be a struggling single mom, working double shifts just to make ends meet. Nor was she supposed to be abandoned by her high school sweetheart, breaking her heart into a thousand jagged pieces. Now Vaughn De Matteo is back in town, his sights set on her...and River is in danger of drowning a second time.

No one believed Hook's resident bad boy was good enough for River. Not even Vaughn himself. But he'll fight like hell to win back the woman he never stopped loving, to keep the daughter he never expected, and convince himself he's worth their love in the process--even if he has to rely on their fierce and undeniable sexual chemistry.

But even as River's body arches under his hungered touch, the demons of the past lurk in the shadows. Waiting for Vaughn to repeat his mistakes one last time...

  5. Your new series with dysfunctional siblings sounds great! I have one sister, who is only 18 months older than me. We grew up really close, and still are, so I always love to read about those that aren't, or don't get along at all.
