ARC Review: Hearts and Thorns by Ella Fields

Hearts and Thorns is the third book in the Magnolia Cove series from Ella Fields. This book is a complete standalone, but the characters are interconnected and I honestly recommend reading the previous books as they are amazing and just made me enjoy this one that much more! This cover is so gorgeous, and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the story since I first started this series but it was honestly more than I could have hoped for. I couldn’t put it down, even as it was wrecking me. Luckily, Ella Fields always takes care of us in the end and it was perfection!

Willa and Jackson grew up together from a young age, forming an unbreakable bond that neither expected and yet they knew was forbidden. They were best friends and as they got older it grew into so much more. They were also each other’s destruction and this story was absolutely heartbreaking at times. Ella knows how to write angsty reads like no one else, and this one was on a whole other level for me. I loved Willa and Jackson so much, and my heart broke right along with theirs. I felt so connected to them, and I honestly just kept hoping that things would work out for them because they were meant for one another and had to be together.

The writing is amazing. The characters are impossible not to fall in love with. The story was captivating and I never wanted to stop reading, even while I wanted to make it to the end to see how things would turn out. Ella Fields is an author that I have learned never disappoints and while she will break you down, will also put you back together. I honestly can’t recommend her books enough and I definitely recommend Hearts and Thorns for fans of the Magnolia Cove series or angst lovers in general. This book was fantastic and I can’t wait for more from Ella Fields.

ARC Review: Release by Aly Martinez

As soon as I read the blurb for Release by Aly Martinez, I knew I had to read it! She is a fantastic writer and I’ve never been disappointed by her. Release was everything I had been expecting and more. It was emotional and had my heart breaking at times, but it also put me back together piece by piece. This book does deal with some difficult topics, so I would check if you have any possible triggers.

Thea and Ramsey met as kids and got off to a rough start, though things quickly changed between them. Soon they were inseparable and planning their lives together. They might have been young but they knew where they were headed, until one night changed everything. Ramsey was sent to prison for killing the man that assaulted Thea, stealing years from both of them. Thea vowed that she would never leave Ramsey, so while he told her to move on she continued to wait for him. But when he is released 12 years later, things are nothing like they were before.

My heart broke so much for both of them, and I hated all they each went through. These two were meant to be, and it was clear the connection and chemistry they had from such a young age. Things progressed between them naturally and everything was so real, which is why I think I felt so emotionally connected to them and their story. I just kept hoping that after everything, there had to be a happy ending for them, because if anyone deserved it, it was Thea and Ramsey.

This book was great. I read it in one sitting and didn’t want to put it down. Besides Ramsey and Thea, I really enjoyed the rest of the characters here. It was hard at times seeing what all they experienced and my heart broke right along with theirs, but I also loved the book so much and just knew that Aly Martinez wouldn’t let me down and she didn’t. I definitely recommend this one, and I am already anxious for her next book!

ARC Review: Between Now and Always by Dylan Allen

I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the final book of Dylan Allen’s Forever Trilogy, Between Now and Always! This book felt as necessary to me as breathing after reading the first two books in the series! These aren’t standalones and must be read in order, but trust me when I tell you that these three books are absolutely amazing, and you won’t regret reading a single word here!

Beth and Carter have been through so much, yet their connection is unbreakable and undeniable. While they are clearly connected in a way that is rare and special, life has been unkind to both of them and circumstances have them wondering if things will ever go their way. I felt so much for each of them over the course of this series, and that was especially true here. I can honestly say that these two felt like more than just characters in a book to me, they were easy to root for and I really felt like I was right there with them through every triumph and every heartbreak. I loved them both and their journey is one I won’t forget anytime soon.

I won’t say how things turn out or what happens here, but I honestly felt like Dylan Allen did a fantastic job with this book and how everything played out. I couldn’t get enough, and didn’t want to put their story down. It was hard waiting for more after each of the first two books, but so worth it. Carter and Beth are fantastic and multi-layered characters that are so genuine and real, they are easy to relate to and fall in love with. While I have loved everything I’ve read from Dylan Allen, the Forever Trilogy is hands down my favorite so far. I look forward to seeing what she writes next, and can’t recommend this series enough!
