Guest Post with Author Theresa Meyers and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome to the blog Theresa Meyers. Theresa is currently on tour promoting the release of her newest book The Half Breed Vampire and has stopped by RFTC to chat. But before I give the floor to Theresa let us get to know her a bit.

Raised by a bibliophile who made the dining room into a library, Theresa has always been a lover of books and stories. First a writer for newspapers, then for national magazines, she started her first novel in high school, eventually enrolling in a Writer's Digest course and putting the book under the bed until she joined Romance Writers of America in 1993. In 2005 she was selected as one of eleven finalists for the American Title II contest, the American Idol of books. She is married to the first man she ever went on a real date with (to their high school prom), who she knew was hero material when he suffered through having to let her parents drive, and her brother sit between them in the backseat of the car. They currently live in a Victorian house on a mini farm in the Pacific Northwest with their two children, three cats, an old chestnut Arabian gelding, an energetic mini-Aussie shepherd puppy, several rabbits, a dozen chickens and an out-of-control herb garden.

Review: The Darkest Seduction by Gena Showalter

I know I'm in the minority when it comes to my rating of this book which is 3 and a half stars, but it honestly did not live up to my expectations. I'm not sure if it was because I've been waiting for this book for what seems like forever or if it was something else. Honestly, I don't really even have anything bad to say about it. Just for some reason I wasn't able to connect with this book like I was able to with the others. For me this book just seemed to drag on and on.

I think I just had a harder time trying to connect with Paris. Throughout the series he has been one of my favorites of the Lords, but in this book there was just something about him. I'm not sure if it was his tendency to be slightly too possessive and controlling of Siena or what, but he came across too alpha for me at times. I found myself rolling my eyes more than once and putting the book down out of sheer frustration. I hated that he tries to forbid Siena to do anything. I understand, he just wants her safe but damn, give the girl a chance. Don't get me wrong, I love alpha males but I hate when they don't let the heroine think and act for themselves.

Siena was actually a surprise to me. She had more backbone and spunk then I was expecting. She continuously stands up for herself and the ones that she loves. I really admired that about her. She isn't some simpering heroine that sits back expecting everyone to fix everything for her. She finds her own solutions to her problems. Another thing I liked about Siena is her complete honesty with Paris. She doesn't lie or play games. She is real with him and I really enjoyed watching their relationship pan out.

There were also a lot twists and turns in this book that I did not see coming and they made me very anxious for the next book. Certain things have transpired and I'm dying to see what becomes of them and the Lords.

Guest Post with Author Rebecca Royce

Today I would like to welcome to RFTC author Rebecca Royce. Rebecca is here today to chat about her Shifter and Bikers series. Before I give the floor to Rebecca let's get to know her some.

As a teenager, I would hide in my room to read my favorite romance novels when I was supposed to be doing my homework. I hope, these days, that my parents think it was worth it.

I am a mother of three adorable boys and I am fortunate to be married to my best friend. We live in northern New Jersey and try not to freeze too badly during the winter months.

I am in love with science fiction, fantasy, and the paranormal and try to use all of these elements in my writing. I've been told I'm a little bloodthirsty so I hope that when you read my work you'll enjoy the action packed ride that always ends in romance. I love to write series because I love to see characters develop over time and it always makes me happy to see my favorite characters make guest appearances in other books.

In my world anything is possible, anything can happen, and you should suspect that it will.

Guest Post with Author Leigh LaValle and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome to the blog author Leigh LaValle. Leigh has just released her debut book The Runaway Countess and has stopped by RFTC to chat. Before I give the floor over to Leigh lets get to know her a bit.

Leigh LaValle was born in a time when ladies shopped at the modiste and rogues sent heated looks across a crowded ballroom. Time slipped forward a few hundred years, and she currently lives in the Pacific Northwest with her family. When she is not writing about said ladies and rogues, mommying, or reading, she is rarely seen cleaning. More often, she is found hiking or, when she is really lucky, in the white powder of the ski slopes. She is also a devoted yoga practitioner and instructor.

Review: Taking a Shot by Jaci Burton

Wow, this was one steamy book! This was my first book by Jaci Burton and it definitely will not be my last. I loved it and I am definitely running out to pick up her backlist. Yes, this is a pretty hot book, but it still had a great story filled with great characters that I loved getting to know.

Jenna is tired of sports. Every facet of her life is consumed by sports and she's tired of it. She has a firm rule that she won't date jocks, no matter how hot and sexy they may be. So when hockey star Tyler Anderson walks into her bar she ignores her attraction to him. It doesn't matter to her that they have great chemistry, she just won't date jocks.

As soon as Ty sees Jenna working behind the bar at Riley's Sports Bar he is instantly attracted. She's hot and sexy, and he loves her spunky personality. He knows that they would be great together and that they have great chemistry but Jenna isn't ready to accept it. He knows how she feels about dating jocks and knows that if he's able to show her that what she really wants is him and not some random guy that she doesn't spark with then he'll bide his time and wait.

After a very hot one night stand, Jenna finds it hard to deny the passion and chemistry between her and Ty. She isn't sure what to make of her growing attraction to Ty but decides she is willing to give it a try. When she finds herself opening up and revealing things about herself that she has never revealed to anyone else before, Jenna isn't sure what to make of it. But when Ty starts to encourage her to follow her dreams she fears he may be pushing too much.

Oh how I loved these two together. I felt that they were each others perfect match. Ty is hot and sexy but there is just so much more to him than that. Yes, he's a complete stud in the bedroom but also gentleman outside of it. He is kind, charming and considerate. I like that he listens and seems to truly care for Jenna. He wants her to be happy and does everything that he can to see it happen.

Jenna comes off as this cute and spunky chick that is super confident but in reality she is terrified to take any chances on what she wants. She has all of these dreams and ideas but is so afraid to voice them to anyone. Don't get me wrong, she's still smart, funny and very stubborn. Sometimes I just wanted to shake her and make her realize that she was being stupid. She was just too stubborn at times, but otherwise I really enjoyed her.

This book was hot and I definitely found myself fanning my face after reading quite a few of Ty and Jenna's scenes together. They both are sexy and have such great chemistry together. I loved getting to know them and I look forward to hearing more about them in the next book in Jaci's Play-by-Play series.

Guest Post with Author Juliana Stone and Giveaway

Today I happy to welcome back to the blog the super awesome Juliana Stone. Today is the release of Juliana's novella, Wrong Side of Hell which is a prequel for her new series the League of Guardians. Juliana has stopped by to chat and share some info about her novella but before I give the floor to Juliana, let's get to know a bit about her.

Juliana Stone has always believed in the power of a good story. When her first narrative, a futuristic about Santa Claus set in a world that resembled her friend's hamster cage was a hit with her fourth grade teacher, she discovered her calling-writing. Novels, short stories, songs-so long as she was writing she was happy. During a stint on the music end of things, she toured Canada fronting an all female rock band and after meeting her husband fell into married life. Kids, dog and the requisite white picket fence followed and her writing took a bit of a back seat.

But in the fall of 2007 she decided to resurrect her love of writing and inspired by the paranormal works of Christine Feehan, Keri Arthur and Lindsey Sands she set out to write something great. Luckily, a unique world of jaguar shifters was born and the rest is history!

Interview with Author Katharine Ashe and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome back to the blog author Katharine Ashe. I'm super excited to have Katharine back at RFTC. She was my first guest to ever visit and I'm glad to have her back. Katharine is celebrating the recent release of her newest book When a Scot Loves a Lady and took the time out of her busy schedule to let me ask her some questions. But before we get to the interview lets get to know a bit more about Katharine.

The American Library Association’s Booklist named Katharine Ashe among its “New Stars of Historical Romance.” She is a two-time nominee in the Reviewers’ Choice Best Book Awards, and her novella, A Lady’s Wish, launched Harper Collins Publishers’ e-book imprint, Avon Impulse, to rave reviews.

Katharine lives in the wonderfully warm Southeast with her husband, son, two dogs, and a garden she likes to call romantic rather than unkempt. A professor of European history, she has made her home in California, Italy, France, and the northern US. She loves hearing from readers!

ARC Review: Tempted By Blood by Laurie London

I really enjoyed this book. Jackson was such a delightful surprise. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect from him going into Tempted By Blood. In the previous books he was portrayed pretty much as a man-whore who didn't have seem to have a care in the world. That was definitely not the case. Yes he's charming, funny and a man-whore but it's all a front. Jackson believes he is reverting which is a big no no, especially if you are a guardian. So because of this he uses the persona he's created as a man-whore to cover up the fact that he's actually using these woman for their energy and blood. Despite the fact that Jackson is reverting, I still found him to be kind and considerate and very caring. He takes such good care of the ones he feel responsible for and yet he still houses tremendous guilt for things that happened in his past. There were a few times I just wanted to give a hug and let him know things were going to be alright.

I loved Arianna and I thought she was a perfect match for Jackson. She is open and honest. I love that she is also loyal and willing to do anything to take care of the ones she loves. Arianna has had a rough childhood. After watching her mom get taken away by "shadows" when she was just a kid an no one believing her, she has grown up trying to learn everything she can about the paranormal world. She now runs a blog called Paranormalish dedicated to all things that go bump in the night. When Arianna posts pictures on her blog of an attempted attack on her and her cousin she immediately draws the attention of Guardians and the Darkbloods. When Jackson is sent to erase Arianna's memory of the attack he ends up staying and getting to know her. He is definitely attracted to her and he finds she is easy to talk to.

I loved the relationship between Jackson and Arianna. They both were just so open and honest with each other and they didn't play games with one another and I loved that. I loved watching their relationship progress. Their connection was a slow build and I found that I enjoyed that. I liked watching them interact with one another while getting to know each other. But believe me, when these two did finally get hot and heavy my oh my was it hot! I had to put the book down quite a few times and fan my face after some of their encounters. Jackson sure is one sexy beast!

Like I said before, I really enjoyed this book. The overall storyline was just okay for me but I loved being able to catch up with past characters. I love the world Laurie London has created with her Sweetblood series and she just has a way with creating super sexy heroes. I can't wait to read her next book.

Guest Post with Author Lacey Wolfe and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome back to the blog author Lacey Wolfe. Lacey has stopped by to chat and has brought along some guests. But before I give the floor to Lacey, lets get to know a bit about her.

It's always been my dream to be a writer. Ever sense I was a child, creating stories has been a passion of mine. I have always said that one day I would be an author. Finally, I am working on this dream of mine. I have two children who have been keeping me busy for the past 7 years. My youngest is starting pre-k this year and I have more time for me and to concentrate on what I want out of this life. So I am picking up pen and paper...well I guess keyboard and screen, and working on this dream. It isn't going to be easy. There will be many ups and downs, but I am ready. I know this dream will come true, my mom told me so, "You can be anything you want to be when you grow up." Thanks mom, here goes nothing!
