ARC Review: Corrupt by Jessica Prince

Corrupt is the first book in Jessica Prince's Civil Corruption series and features Garrett and Gwen. This was my first Jessica Prince book, but I have seen a lot about her books before and wanted to give this one a go. There were things I liked here, and there were things that didn't work as well for me. While I had mixed feelings about the story, I would read more from Jessica Prince in the future.

Garrett and Gwen share a night together and it changes their lives forever. But while Garrett is a rich and famous rockstar that is in his own world, Gwen is forced to move on and deal with the consequences that life has dealt her. They are tied together though and now that Gwen is forced to deal with Garrett daily, she finds her walls starting to crumble even after everything that has happened.

I found it really hard to like or relate to these characters at times. They were flawed and drove me nuts, but I did have moments where I felt like there were glimmers of hope for them. For much of this book though Garrett was pretty much a jerk, and by the time he was redeemed it was somewhat too little, too late. I really wanted to like these two and be able to root for them, but there was just so much that went against that. They had chemistry and there were moments that I did like them. But ultimately I struggled with them and how their relationship happened. I never felt like we really saw them fall in love and that made it hard to believe in a forever for them.

I really did want to like this one, and like I said there were moments here that I did. But overall, I just struggled and that made this one just okay for me. I do think that I will give Jessica Prince another chance in the future, as I did see a lot of promise here and I enjoyed her writing style. It was more the story and characters here that didn't fully work for me. I have seen a lot of readers that loved this book though, so I think that it is worth taking a chance on if it sounds like one you might be interested in. Just because this one didn't work for me personally doesn't mean that it won't work for you. There were just a few things that I had trouble getting past, but it could be one that you love.

ARC Review: Long For Me by Stacey Lynn

Long For Me is the third book in the Luminous series by Stacey Lynn. Each book is a standalone story, and you can understand each without having read the previous books. I had only read book two in this series before Long For Me, but I really loved it and didn't have any problems here. I am really enjoying this series though and I am looking forward to going back and reading the first in the series to see where it all started.

Rebecca has seen what giving everything to a man can do, and she has no intention of doing that herself. Though Bennett Ashby her boss is super sexy, she knows that he is the worst sor of man she could give herself to with how bossy he is at work. But when she goes to Luminous with her friends, she sees a side of him she never knew existed and as much as she doesn't want to be, she finds herself drawn to him. Bennett convinces Rebecca to give him one night to show her what being a Dom and sub is all about, and to show her pleasure unlike she has ever known before. But what happens when their night is over and Bennett wants more? Can he convince Rebecca that they belong together?

I thought that these two were great for one another. They had chemistry right off, but I loved seeing a connection form between them. Rebecca had always thought that Bennett was rude and cold, but seeing him show her that there was more there was really enjoyable. He had wanted her all along and it was clear that he had acted that way to try and keep his distance. I liked seeing her learn more about the BDSM lifestyle and see that what was happening at Luminous and in her friends lives wasn't abuse and was consensual. Seeing her realize what it was all about and finally come to understand it showed so much growth and Bennett was exactly what she needed. There were a few times that she frustrated me getting there, but in the end I was really happy with where things ended up.

Overall, this was a really great addition to the series. I enjoyed it and liked the characters. I love this series so far and Stacey Lynn has created some fantastic characters with this world. While this series definitely brings the steam and has plenty of sexy times, each book is sweet and emotional as well. These books draw my attention right away and I have a tough time putting them down. If you are looking for a great story on the sexy side, I definitely recommend checking this series out.

ARC Review: The Real Thing by Melissa Foster

Melissa Foster is one of my favorite authors. Whatever she writes, I read. I was so excited about The Real Thing though as it is the first book in her new Sugar Lake series, and she definitely delivered here. The Real Thing was a fantastic start to this series and some of her best work yet!

Zane Walker is best friends with Willow Dalton's brother, but the two have always been somewhat close. When Willow wanted to lose her virginity she could think of no one else but Zane, and he was happy to help. Now years later he is the one asking for the favor when he finds himself needing to improve his reputation for his upcoming movie roll. But can Willow possibly hold onto her heart and avoid being hurt again when he asks her to pretend to be his fiancé?

I loved these two so much! Their relationship was fun and sweet, and their connection was strong despite not really being around one another for years. I loved that they kept in touch through text, and that whenever they really needed anything they knew it they could turn to one another. There was so much going on that neither one of them knew about, and it was clear that age and circumstances played into that a lot. My heart broke for them missing out on so much together, and yet had one thing been different things might not have worked out as they should. The one thing that was obvious was that these two belonged together, and I honestly just adored them both! Willow was super sweet and just a great person and Zane was as well.

Overall, these are some of my favorite characters from Melissa Foster yet! I don't know how she continues to come up with such unique and different characters that always feel so real. But each and every time she makes me fall in love with them and Willow and Zane were amazing. This book was sweet and sexy, full of fun moments and all the feels. You can never go wrong with Melissa Foster's books, but The Real Thing is one of my favorites of hers. I can't wait to get more in this world, and I highly recommend this one!

ARC Review: When We Touch by Tia Louise

I am such a sucker for second chance romance stories, and the minute I read the blurb for When We Touch by Tia Louise I knew I had to read this one! I absolutely devoured it and I didn't want to put it down. This book was emotional and sweet, and I definitely recommend this for those romance readers like me who love seeing couples get a second chance to make things right.

Jackson Cane and Ember Rose loved one another and had plans for their future. But when he went off to college with her still being in high school, he left and never came back leaving her with a broken heart. Now ten years later, he returns never expecting to see her and she is shocked to see him after all the years apart. But nothing is as they thought it was, and when truths are revealed they find themselves once again unable to fight the connection that was always between them.

I loved these two. My heart broke for them and everything that happened. I felt so bad for their situation and I wanted to seriously hurt those that were involved. Jackson and Ember had such a pure and beautiful connection and love between them that it was horrible for them to be apart for so long when it was obvious that these two belonged together. The chemistry was off the charts and I just loved them for one another. The way that Jackson was with Ember and those that she loved made me swoon right along with Ember. These two just made me happy and when all was right with them my heart felt so full!

Overall, this book was so good and I really loved it. There were a few characters here that I couldn't stand though, and I hated the way that they influenced things. I so wanted karma to get them, but as much as I couldn't stand them I loved Jackson and Ember. This book was one that captivated me right away and honestly I just enjoyed it the whole way through. I think fans of contemporary and second chance romances will love this one, and it just might be my favorite Tia Louise book yet!

ARC Review: Play Room by Heidi McLaughlin and L.P. Dover

Play Room is the third book in the Society X series by Heidi McLaughlin and L.P. Dover, but each book is a standalone story. I do recommend reading them all in order if possible though as you do get to see some familiar faces along the way and I have really enjoyed each book in this series. This book was a little more tame than the first two were, but I still really liked it and think fans of the series as well as new readers will like this one.

Society X only has a few rules: no names, no numbers and everything is to remain anonymous. Kai is looking for something with no strings and knows the club is the best way to go. His current job has an expiration date and he doesn't need any complications. Alexandria is a virgin with very little experience looking to explore her sexuality and desires. But when their club lives and the real world collide, what will that mean for them?

I really liked both Kai and Alex. They had a great connection and chemistry and I thought that they were so good together. Each of these two had their reasons for going to the club and yet they were both on the fence about it. I loved that they were a bit vulnerable and that we got to see them come into their own as they got to know one another. Like I said before this book was a bit more tame than the previous books and I liked that there was a sweetness as well as steam to the story.

Overall, this was another great installment in this series. I really liked Kai and Alex, and the secondary characters here. Heidi and Leslie are a great writing team and I really like that their stories are so seamless. They haven't disappointed me yet and I really hope that they continue to write together as well as individually. These two are some of my favorite authors and I can't recommend this series or their books enough.
