ARC Review: Insatiable by Melanie Harlow

Melanie Harlow is an author that I love everything I’ve read by her. Her stories are feel good romances that always leave me in a good mood and that I enjoy from start to finish. Insatiable was cute and sweet and exactly what I needed in my life. I had a great time reading this one, and if you love contemporary romances, is one I’d highly recommend. While this is the third book in her Cloverleigh Farms series, it is a standalone story that you can read even if you haven’t read the previous two books.

Meg and Noah have never been anything more than friends, living their separate lives but keeping in touch no matter where life takes them. But after getting dumped, Meg heads home to Cloverleigh Farms to be near family and friends. As Meg and Noah spend more time together, things between them begin to change and soon they are seeing each other differently than they have before. I loved them both and there were so great for one another. Their connection was clear and I enjoyed seeing them transition from friends to more.

This book was fast paced and kept me flipping pages, not wanting to put it down. I really enjoyed it and I loved the characters. Melanie Harlow delivered another great contemporary romance and I think this is one of those books that will appeal to many readers. It is just a great story that you can lose yourself in and feel good from start to finish. I can’t wait to see what Melanie writes next and definitely recommend this one!

ARC Review: Underneath the Sycamore Tree by B. Celeste

I have loved everything I’ve read from B. Celeste, so I was really excited when I read the blurb for Underneath the Sycamore Tree. I knew I wanted to read it and expected it to be everything I’ve learned to expect from B. Celeste. I have to admit though, that this book was not what I was expecting at all. I won’t be going into detail on the actual story, as I don’t want to spoil anything.

First let me say though that this book was just as well written as everything else that I have read from Celeste. It flowed well and I was lost in the story and the journey of the characters. It was beautiful and Celeste continues to prove that she is a talented author.

The problem for me was a personal one. I was not expecting things to take the turn they did, and I’ll admit that while I understood why Celeste did this, as a reader I personally struggle with certain things and that hurts my enjoyment of a story, no matter how well written it is. This is nothing personal towards the author, but each person handles things differently and for me as a reader I want certain things when I read a romance.

I still think this book is worth the read and incredibly well written, I just personally wished it would have been different and my rating is a reflection of my personal taste.

ARC Review: In the Unlikely Event by LJ Shen

LJ Shen is one of those authors that I will blindly read whatever she writes! But the blurb for In the Unlikely Event was one that had me beyond anxious to get my hands on the story! It was everything I had hoped for and more, and I couldn’t put it down! I loved this one from start to finish and can’t say enough good things about it!

For those that are already fans of Shen, this book is completely unlike anything she has written before. But honestly, I loved how she switched it up a bit here! There are things that definitely her signature style, yet she also proved that she is talented enough to write whatever she wants to. Mal and Rory were great characters and their story was so unexpected for me. They were meant for one another, and their connection was clear right from the start. But things weren’t easy for them and nothing was how it seemed. I was so invested in them and I experienced every triumph and heartbreak as they did.

I think that readers are going to love this story and while it is different from what LJ Shen has written before, it was just as fantastic. Rory and Mal’s story is one that will stick with you long after you finish. I couldn’t get enough of them and I honestly can’t wait for more from Shen. This is a must read for me, and besides having a beautiful cover, the story is beautiful as well.

ARC Review: The Rebel King by Kennedy Ryan

The Rebel King is the second book in Kennedy Ryan’s All the King’s Men Duet, and it is not a standalone story. You need to read The Kingmaker first if you haven’t already before starting this book. I honestly can’t recommend enough any of Kennedy’s books, especially this series! Kennedy Ryan is one of my absolute favorite authors. She always writes such emotional and powerful stories, and this series is no exception.

Maxim and Lennix’s story was so passionate and emotional, full of so much intensity and after the cliffhanger of the first book I couldn’t wait for more. I didn’t want to put this one down for anything and I was captivated right from the start. Kennedy Ryan’s characters are always so real and genuine and deeply layered and that has never been more true than here with Maxim and Lennix. I felt for each of them and they were unlike any characters I have read before. Through the ups and downs that they experienced, I admired their strength and couldn’t get enough.

Overall, another fantastic book and series from Kennedy Ryan. I always love seeing how her stories will end, yet I am never ready to leave her characters behind. Maxim and Lennix will be characters I’ll never forget and as with all of her books, I know I’ll go back and read these again. I just can’t get enough of Kennedy’s writing and her books and I truly hope she never quits telling stories. If you haven’t read anything by Kennedy yet, you are seriously missing out and if you are already a fan, you will love this series as much as I do!

ARC Review: Between Now and Heartbreak by Dylan Allen

Between Now and Heartbreak is the second book in Dylan Allen’s Forever Trilogy, and this book is not a standalone story. If you haven’t already started this series, I highly recommend that you do. But you definitely need to start with Between Now and Forever before starting this book, trust me it’s worth it!

This book was every bit as intense and emotional as the first book was, and honestly I couldn’t get enough. Dylan Allen is a great story teller, and I was hanging on every single word here. Carter and Beth were the same characters I fell for in the first book, but we got to see even more of them here from their pasts to the present. I feel for both of them so much, but especially Carter. His struggles make him who he is, but I just hurt for him and all he continues to go through. While we did get a lot more of both Beth and Carter here, there story is far from over and you can just tell that there is so much more for them yet to go through.

Dylan Allen has captivated me from the very beginning of this series, and honestly I am beyond anxious for book 3. I need more of these two and I am both excited to see what is next, I just know I’m not prepared at all. It takes an amazing writer to have the reader feeling everything and experiencing it right along with the characters and Dylan Allen always does that with everything I have read from her, but especially with Beth and Carter. I recommend these books so much and can't wait for more!

ARC Review: Before You by Marni Mann

I really loved this book! Marni Mann is an excellent writer and she kept me on the edge of my seat with this one! Before You had me experiencing all the emotions and I was never sure what would happen next. I haven’t read a book like this before and I enjoyed reading it so much. Every book I’ve read from Marni has been great and this one was no exception.

Marni does a great job writing unique characters that you can’t help but feel invested in. Billie and Jared were so real and I couldn’t help but feel everything as they experienced it. They didn’t have it easy, and honestly my heart broke for them over and over. I really believed that they were meant for one another though, and had faith that Marni would take their story where it was meant to go.

I will say that while this ending was mostly satisfying, it felt like things weren’t entirely finished. I am hoping that Marni will give us more of the story as I would love to read more about these characters. Rest assured though that if this is all we get, it is definitely worth the read and does not leave the reader hanging. This was a great book and I think readers are going to love it!
