ARC Review: Lessons From a Scandalous Bride by Sophie Jordan

I really enjoy this story. I liked the chemistry between Cleo and Logan. I liked the dynamics between them.

Cleopatra Hadley has wants no part of being married. She has watched her mother time and again get used and discarded by her step father one too many times and is not a fan of the consequences. So when her long father comes to collect her in the hopes that she will marry and marry well she know she must think of a plan. She decides to set her cap for Lord Thrumgoodie who is just one step from the grave. She knows that he would never be able to consummate the marriage and that is exactly what she wants.

Lord Logan McKinney is a nobleman from Scotland and desperately needs to find an heiress to marry. His castle is falling apart and there is no money to take care of his family. He knows it's his duty to marry an heiress but all his plans go awry after meeting the vibrant Cleo. She tempts him as no other has and he can't deny that the more he's around her the closer he wants to be to her. There is just something about her that pulls him in and he finds it increasingly difficult to stay away.

Cleo wants no parts of Logan. Yes, he has awakened desires inside of her she didn't know she had or even craved, but there is no way she can be trapped into a marriage like her mother was. What starts out as a innocent kiss quickly leads to more and the two soon find it impossible to keep their hands off of each other.
Cleo knows she must resist Logan, but how can she when his kisses are like a drug and she keeps wanting more.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I loved the chemistry between Logan and Cleo. It was refreshing. Logan is thoroughly pursuing Cleo throughout most of the story and I quite enjoyed it. It's not too often when we see a hero so persistent. I like that Logan was able to help bring Cleo defenses down. Not only that, but he was incredibly passionate and tender with her.

I liked Cleo but at times she had me a bit frustrated. She was so hung up on what happened with her mother that she doesn't look to see what's right in front of her. She continuously pushes Logan away because she doesn't want to let him in or tell him the truth. I just hated that she was so stubborn at times.

All in all, I really enjoyed this story and I look forward to the next installment in the series.

Gus Taggert knows a setup when he sees one. The doughnut shop his police officer buddies have sent him to, Cornucopia, is too frilly. Too pink. Then the woman behind the counter serves up a mini-lesson in submission that leaves him ready and willing to obey her order to see her tonight at La Forge BDSM club.

Determined to find out once and for all if she has what it takes to control a scene, she orders him up for one more go. Only this time, she intends to ensure he remembers who’s in charge. She’s even willing to offer a little bribe: accept her dictates, and his reward is her—any way he wants her.

ARC Review: Pleasures of a Tempted Lady by Jennifer Haymore

When I finished reading the last book from Jennifer Haymore, I just couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. I had such high expectations for it. Unfortunately I think my high expectations ruined it a bit. I just couldn't really get into this book and it just felt like it moved so slowly.

Eight years ago while sailing home to Antigua with her sisters Meg accidentally fell overboard and was never found. She was presumed to be dead, but in truth she has spent the last eight years held captive by a pirate. Finally Meg has been able to escape and she has taken the pirates son Jake whom she has come to love as if her were her own son. During her escape Meg and Jake were caught in a terrible storm and both are now just floating aimlessly in the ocean hoping to find help.

Captain William Langley has spent the last eight years thinking about Meg and just how much he loved her. Will would give anything to just see her once again and let her know just how much he loved her. Will is out on a mission to find smugglers when he comes across a small boat with two passengers. Imagine his shock when he discovers one of the passengers just happens to be his long lost Meg. While can't believe his eyes to see Meg again. Will is bound and determined to never lose Meg again, and he will do everything he can to keep both her and Jake safe.

For me, I just had such a difficult time connecting with Meg. I just never really warmed up to her and I honestly didn't like her all that much. She just came off as cold and a bit uncaring towards everyone but Jake. I understand that she's been through a lot with being held captive for the last eight years, but I would have liked to see her make more a connection with her family and Will. She continuously keeps them at an arms length and seems so uncaring to their feelings. She purposely makes irrational decisions regardless of anyone else's opinions. She is very stubborn. Instead of asking for help or even just unburdening herself of the truth, she runs and keeps everything a secret. It was very aggravating to read.

As for Will, oh my goodness but he was an amazing hero. For the last eight years he has held a torch for Meg and never gave up his love for her. Even despite the rumors of her death, he stayed truthful to her and I found that so endearing. His emotions jumped off the page and slapped you in the face. I like that even though you know just how much he loves Meg he doesn't come off as a pansy.

One thing I did enjoy with this story was the secondary characters. I liked seeing more of Meg's family and seeing more of Jessica. I'll be honest, at first I found Jessica really annoying and slightly snobby but by the end of the book I really liked her. I also really liked getting to know Briggs. I liked him so much that I wish he would have gotten his own book. There is just so much more I would have liked to see from him.

Guest Post with Author Calinda B and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome to RFTC author Calinda B. Calinda is here today to chat about her Wicked Series and why the Pacific Northwest makes the best setting for her series. Before I give the floor over to Calinda, lets get to know a bit about her.

The Fun Part: Calinda B was told early on that she should be a writer. She heard frequent praise for her writing, as well as her sense of humor. Scoffing at such admonitions and praise, she went on to pursue her life of adventure, chock full of the things that make up a well-rounded adventurous life: music (yup, she was a singer in a rock and roll band), dance (even performed hip hop in Russia), rock climbing (ever hung from a rock wall a few stories up? Yikes!), fire walking (taught high-ranking Moscow fire officials how to walk the coals), kayaking, scuba diving (she’s in love with sharks), travel, and falling in love again and again.

The Daily Grind: An award-winning web designer and certified SEO specialist, Calinda B has worked in the Internet industry as a web page designer/developer since the early 1990′s. She has also taught web site design and computer graphics at community colleges in Northern California. In addition to writing, Calinda B creates fine art and music, and enjoys scuba diving, kayaking, and bike riding. Calinda B makes her home in the Pacific Northwest with the love of her life and her two cats. She is currently working on the fourth book in The Wicked Series, tentatively entitled A Wicked Ending.

Guest Post with Tori St. Claire and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome back to the blog author Tori St. Claire. Tori is celebrating the recent release of her book Lie To Me and has stopped by to chat. Before I give the floor over to Tori, lets get to know her a bit.

National Bestselling author Tori St. Claire grew up writing. Hobby quickly turned into passion, and when she discovered the world of romance as a teen, poems and short stories gave way to full length novels with sexy heroes and heroines waiting to be swept off their feet. She wrote her first romance novel at seventeen.

While that manuscript gathered dust-bunnies beneath the bed, she went on to establish herself as a contemporary, historical, and paranormal author under the pen name, Claire Ashgrove. Her writing, however, skirted a fine line between hot and steamy, and motivated by authors she admired, she pushed her boundaries and made the leap into erotica, using the darker side of human nature and on-the-edge suspense to drive grittier, sexier, stories.

Her erotic romantic suspense novels are searingly sensual experiences that unite passion with true emotion, and the all-consuming tie that binds -- love.

Guest Post with Author Ella Jade and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome back to the blog author Ella Jade. Ella is currently on tour for her book Make Me Stay and has stopped by to chat. Before I give the floor over to Ella, lets get to know her a bit.

Ella Jade has been writing for as long as she can remember. As a child, she often had a notebook and pen with her and now as an adult, the laptop is never far. The plots and dialog have always played out in her head, but she never knew what to do with them. That all changed when she discovered the eBooks industry. She started penning novels at a rapid pace and now she can't be stopped.

Ella resides in New Jersey with her husband and two young boys. When she's not chasing after her kids, she's busy writing, attending PTO meetings, kickboxing and scrapbooking. She hope's you'll get lost in her words.
