ARC Review: Running Into Love by Aurora Rose Reynolds

I am a huge fan of Aurora Rose Reynolds. I know her alphas and insta-love (the BOOM) stories aren't for everyone, but I typically love them and I don't even read her blurbs anymore. If it has her name on it, I just add it to my TBR. I almost just take it for granted that I will love her books, but I haven't been disappointed yet. Running Into Love was no exception, and I thought it was super cute and I just had a great time reading it!

After having bad luck with men, Fawn Reed has decided that she will avoid men. But when she runs into Levi Fremont, everything changes. Things don't get off on the right foot for them, and next thing they both know Levi is moving into the apartment across from Fawn. As the two run into each other more and start spending time together though, things quickly change for them and their feelings start to become more than attraction.

I absolutely loved these two. They were so adorable, and their story just made me feel good and enjoy what I was reading. I was invested in them right away, with both characters being likable and easy to relate to. They were sweet and caring and fit together well. Levi was alpha and protective, but not in a jerk kind of way. He really cared about Fawn and he had me swooning the whole way through. Fawn was the type of heroine that is great to read about and makes you want to be friends with her in real life. I just loved them both and the chemistry and connection between them was undeniable and special.

Overall, this book was really great and one of my favorites from ARR to date. I think contemporary readers looking for a great all around romance will really enjoy this one. It was sweet and sexy, and a really cute story. Definitely one I recommend, and I can't wait to read more in this series! There were so many characters here that I loved, and I am really excited to get more of them!

ARC Review: Falling Fast by Aurora Rose Reynolds

I have been a fan of Aurora Rose Reynolds since I first read a book by her. While I am not usually a fan of insta-love, for some reason when it comes to her books and the BOOM it just works for me. So I couldn't wait to read Falling Fast from her, because it sounded so good and she has yet to disappoint me. That was definitely the case here and I really enjoyed this story.

When Gia Caro learns that her grandmother is still alive and not dead like she was told years before, she drops everything to head to her small town and take care of her. Needing to find a job to help out, she gets a job at a local bar where she meets Colton Allyster. Both Colton and Gia find themselves living a life they never planned for themselves, but after meeting each other they know they are exactly where they should be. But when things start to get worse with Gia's grandmother and things start happening to Gia, it seems like someone is out to get her. Is what they have between them forever though, especially when it seems like everything is happening too fast?

I really liked Colton and Gia. Gia was sweet and caring, and I loved how real she was. She was accident prone and a hard worker, not afraid to get her hands dirty and do what needed to be done. She was easy to relate to and a heroine that you wanted to root for. Colton was sexy and alpha, yet sweet and caring. He was protective, but not a jerk about it. He was a genuinely good guy who had some bad stuff happen to him, and because of that he was a bit vulnerable. I loved that we got to see different sides to him, and that these two were so perfect for one another. They each had a lot they were dealing with, but they helped one another out so much and seeing that growth and change with each of them was fun to watch. They had off the charts chemistry and a connection that was strong and clear right from the start.

Overall, this was another great story from ARR. I loved it and the characters and didn't want to put it down once I had started. I liked that while Colton was alpha and protective (as is common for ARR's heroes) I will say that things were a bit predictable at times, but honestly that didn't stop me from enjoying this book. I had a few things figured out though, and I would have liked to have been a bit more surprised. Still a great story though, and I honestly can't wait to get Tide's book next! If you are a fan of Aurora Rose Reynolds, you will definitely want to check this one out. If you are new to her though, this is a great book to start with and you will want to go back and read more from her.

ARC Review: Immortally Yours by Lynsay Sands

The 26th installment of the incredible world of the Argeneau’s by Lynsay Sands. We take a pause from the mad scientist down in South America and as much as I like it taking a step back from it and doing something else was a nice change of pace. We once again find ourselves in Canada with Mortimer and his mate Sam. A new hunter from Spain Beth was adopted into the Argenis family after her transition over a hundred years ago. Elisabeth “Beth” is a British born woman who’s had an arduous past and has actually accepted it and moved on, it’s a shame Scotty hasn’t. Scotty was one of the ones who saved her after she was changed and for the last one hundred and twenty-five years he has been keeping his distance from her telling himself he is giving her time to heal.

Cullen “Scotty” MacDonald is the head of the British Hunters he’s lending a hand to Mortimer who is stretched pretty thin since most hunters are in South America. While he’s there he is going to check up on Beth and maybe quite possible finally claim her as his life mate. Mortimer assigns Beth, Scotty, and hunter trainee Donny to a sensitive mission, the daughter of the Russian immortals is attending school in Vancouver and has begun feeding “off the hoof”. To prevent her death and subsequently a huge, bloody international incident Beth is supposed to talk to her to make sure she knows she’s breaking the law by feeding directly from the source. Beth has had many close calls being a hunter for so long but two attempts on her life in one day seems to hinky for Scotty to just let it go as coincidence.

The more time Scotty spends with Beth the harder it is to resist the urge to mate, and the more he realizes he never knew who she was really. All this time Scotty was telling himself he was doing it for her but deep down he was having a hard time accepting what she was in her mortal life. Beth has had time to accept what has happened to her and to accept everything about her past but when she learns that Scotty has known that she was his life mate all this time, she feels rejected like he didn’t want her because of it. Beth and Scotty have come a long way and still have quite a bit to tell each other before they can fully accept each other. But this new baddie who has targeted Beth forces their hand to reveal everything. Can Beth forgive Scotty for his past treatment and can Scotty embrace Beth for everything she is and has been in the past?

Overall, this was a good one. Just when you think the situation couldn’t get any worse it does. Poor Beth and Scotty they go through so much emotionally and physically, this is an exciting and emotional read.

ARC Review: The High Road by Lauren Runow

The High Road by Lauren Runow is a short and sexy novella that was previously published in the Secret Affair Anthology. This is a standalone story and a great read if you are needing something quick. I have read a few of Lauren's books now, and have really enjoyed each one. The High Road was no different and I think readers will enjoy it like I did.

Jenelle was used to living her life by following the rules and putting on a fake smile when she needs to. But when she learns that her boyfriend has been cheating on her, she decides to go out with her friend and live a little. When she meets Alex though, he changes everything and she soon finds herself living a life she was missing before. But what he didn't mention was that he is actually her subordinate and a relationship between them is forbidden.

I really liked Jenelle and Alex. Jenelle was straight-laced, yet you could tell there was more to her. She just needed to find the right person that she could be herself with. Alex had a lot to overcome and learning about his past had me feeling so much for him. I liked him and Jenelle together, and though it was supposed to be something quick for them it was obvious that there was so much more happening. They had great chemistry and a connection that was natural and easy to believe in.

Overall, this was a really good quick and sexy read. It was also just a good story and I found it easy to believe in the relationship which can sometimes be hard with a novella. I liked the characters a lot and I think that contemporary fans will as well. I look forward to more from Lauren Runow in the future.

Check out the Carolina Beach series:

That smile that faded in Blythe’s presence returns. I ease my way out of the bathroom and return to the kitchen, but Landon is gone. So is my purse and our drinks.

My heart falls to my belly, only for it to quicken when a hand presses tenderly against the small of my back. “Are you hungry?” Landon asks. He motions to the corner where a set of heavy curtains sway in the breeze. “I figured with all that we’re drinking, we should get something to eat.”

“That would be lovely,” I say, realizing how much I mean it.

He passes me my clutch and leads me forward, a server slips out from behind a curtain with an empty tray, nodding Landon’s way. As he passes, Landon slips something into his palm. “Thank you, sir,” the young man tells him.

Landon smiles when I look up at him. “After you,” he says.

He parts the curtain, allowing me into a small terrace surrounded by tall glass dividers that repels the wind and allows a magnificent view of the ocean. There’s not much room, the space only large enough for a rectangular fire pit radiating with turquoise glass and a small table with two chairs. To our right people laugh from a larger more open terrace a level down. They can’t see us well, and I don’t really care to see them.

Our beers are placed beside two empty plates, along with two unopened bottles of water. At the center, there’s a large plate filled with food. “Becca likes to eat breakfast out here when she’s home. But she’s not using it and I didn’t want to waste the view.”

“It’s amazing,” I say, taking in the splendor.

I didn’t expect to see the ocean this far into the shore, especially at night. But with moon as bright and as low as it is, its light spills across the waves, illuminating the water and casting a glow along the sand.

Landon pulls out my chair. “I wasn’t sure what you liked, so I asked the staff to bring a little of everything.” He pauses. “You’re not one of those crazy vegans are you?” I laugh. “If you are, I can ask them for some of that crazy vegan food you people like to eat.”

“My people like everything,” I assure him, watching him take a seat in front of me.

“Good,” he says. “So do good ol’ Southern boys.”

We spend an outrageous amount of time talking, and even more simply gazing at each other, smiling softly when the words don’t quite come, and laughing when they finally do.

It’s only when Rihanna’s Love on the Brain begins to play that Landon tears his attention away from me and back in the direction of the party. “Don’t you hate it when everyone is dancing, and you have no one to dance with?” he asks.

I glance down, playing with the fabric of my skirt. “I think it’s worse when the wrong person asks you, and you’ve been waiting for the right one.”

“Oh, yeah?” He grins when I nod. “I suppose I should ask you, before the wrong person gets his chance.”

He doesn’t really ask. He doesn’t need to. I place my hand in his when he opens his palm.

He pulls me up and into him, wrapping his arms securely around my waist as mine circle his neck. He smiles as he looks down and meets my eyes. I return it, losing myself in his stare.

We move to the beat as if we’ve danced a hundred times, despite what I’m feeling is a slew of firsts.

The first time his hard body presses against mine.

The first whisper of his breath against my skin.

The first touch that has no inkling of innocence.

And the first stroke of desire.

His hands slide to my hips as the bass pounds deeper, craving more. “It’s almost midnight,” he rasps against my bare shoulder.

I shudder as his lips graze over my skin, not quite touching, trailing lightly just enough to tease. “Almost,” I agree.

The allure in his voice robs me of air. “I didn’t plan on having anyone to kiss.”

I almost reply, but the way Landon’s mouth hovers over the sweep of my neck keeps me silent, as does the way he draws an invisible line to my ear with his lips.

My heart thuds mercilessly as I wait for his next words.

“But I guess I didn’t plan on you either,” he murmurs, each word softly tortured.

His mouth feathers over mine as the song ends and the countdown to New Year’s begins, opening and closing tentatively, giving me a chance to pull away.
I don’t. I can’t. Not with how good he feels and not with the way his body curls protectively around me.

Urgent voices and anxious steps echo from inside as people rush to find partners to kiss as the countdown reaches ten.

Landon and I aren’t waiting. His tongue dives deep, prodding me possessively and taking me deep.

He grips my hips tighter, pulling me closer, turning the sweet, tentative kiss passionate and daring.

I’m no longer simply kissing him, I’m moaning.

And I’m not alone.

A rumble builds in his throat, ending in a long, dragged out groan.

My body trembles with need, responding and following the rough caress of his palms along my spine.

The clock strikes twelve, people are cheering, bottles of champagne are exploding, and the ocean waves crash harder against the shore. I barely hear them. I only see Landon as he pulls away, his breaths labored like mine, his intensity welding me in place.
