Audiobook Review: Kiss of the Demon King by Kresley Cole, Narrated by Robert Petkoff

Usually I start off with a review first and then I comment on the narrator but I have to say that Robert Petkoff was A-mazing! This is a very lengthy audiobook, about 12 hours and I never tired of hear Petkoff’s voice. I also loved the voices he gave to the characters. At first when I heard his voice of Sabine it took me a while to get used to it and then I loved it. I was completely mesmerized by his storytelling.

Equally amazing was this story. This is the first time I experience anything by Kresley Cole and I have to say there was not one single moment that I was disappointed. This was a fantastic story. All the characters were interesting the pacing was fantastic. It varied from tensions between Sabine and her love interest/ hero –Rydstrom Woede. To say I loved Sabine is an understatement. She was so cunning and conniving, blood thirsty and ruthless-these are just some of her good qualities. As a sorceress her powers were fun and interesting, her wit was sharp and her humor had me laughing. Hands down she has to be one of my favorite heroines.

I loved Rydstrom as well and respected his honorable intentions and I loved that the author made him just as quick and intelligent as Sabine. They were so perfectly matched. Where Sabine will lie and cheat to get anything she wants, Rydstrom is all truth and good intentions despite his being a demon. They were both a force to be reckoned with. Even though I jumped into the series with this book, the 7th , I was not lost at all. The author was able to keep me up to date on all that had transpired in the previous books and even though I’m sure it would be better to read/hear the entire series it did not hamper my enjoyment of this book in any way. Between the steamy tension between Sabine and Rydstrom, there is the ever present danger of her evil brother trying to dominate Sabine and finally make her his.

Once I started hearing this story I was instantly hooked and captivated by the characters and the story. Usually when a book is this long inevitably my attention wonders but I could not put this story down! I wanted to know what would happen next, I wanted to know would Rydstrom finally get his kingdom back… Completely intriguing and beguiling, I loved this story!

ARC Review: Love: Uncivilized by Sawyer Bennett

Love Uncivilized is the continuation of Zach and Moira's story from Uncivilized by Sawyer Bennett. While I wasn't the biggest fan of the first book, I loved the heat and chemistry between Zach and Moira. It was enough that I had to read more about these two and sweet what they were up to now. This wasn't exactly what I had been expecting, but I did still feel the heat between these two. If you haven't read Uncivilized I would recommend starting there, but I suppose you could read this as a standalone novella though there would be some things missed. 

Zach and Moira have now been married for eight years and have two kids together. Their hectic lives leave little time for them to be together. Zach is hard at work for his godfather, devoting everything to the man that made sure he got an education. Moira is ready to go back to work after spending some time off with her young children. With so much going on Zach and Moira feel themselves growing apart, but can they fix it before there are too many things between them to recover from? 

As much as I still felt the heat and chemistry between these two, I have to say that it wasn't as strong as the first time around. Yes things are always going to calm down a little when life and kids get in the way, but I really felt like these two never actually settled anything. The sex they had while hot, didn't pack the same punch as before and they had definitely lost some of their spark. I hated that they constantly used sex to get over their issues, leaving the problems unresolved and nothing actually done. There were so many times that these big things would seem to build up just to fizzle out. I kept waiting for them to finally get on the same page, and then it was just over. As much as I had been hoping for them to start to compromise and work together as a team while rediscovering that connection, it just didn't happen here. There was a little bit of progress at the end, but then it was over. Unfortunately this one was disappointing and left me feeling as though these two still weren't on the same page. There was some steam here, but this story just seemed to be full of unnecessary drama and some filler content to perpetuate the series while not actually serving much of a purpose. While it was good to get a glimpse at Zach and Moira's HEA, I was hoping for more.

ARC Review: Game Winner by Collette West

Game Winner is the sixth book in the New York Kings series from Collette West. I have really enjoyed this series and I couldn't wait to get Jake's story! Having seen him in previous books I was so excited to get to know more about him, and it was great to meet Scarlett since she was a new character to the series. If you haven't read any of these books yet, I highly recommend them, especially if you are a sports romance fan! But if you are new to the series, don't worry about jumping in here since each book is an interconnected standalone story. 

New York Kings center fielder Jake Woodbury is known for being the good guy of baseball. With a squeaky clean reputation, Jake has managed to avoid scandal of any kind. But Jake also has a secret that few know about that haunts him. Scarlett Moore is Jake's opposite. She is a famous popstar that is known for being provocative and singing about her ex-boyfriends. Scarlett appears to be the last thing Jake needs and Jake appears to be the exact opposite of what Scarlett would go for. But the attraction between them is instant and these two quickly realize that they might have more in common than they first thought. 

Jake and Scarlett were some of my absolute favorites from this series, if not my favorites. Each time I think that Collette West can't top herself or the characters, and yet she continues to do so with every book! Jake was so much more than you first see, and I really liked seeing more of him here. The connection he had with Scarlett was surprising and deep, and I couldn't get enough of these two. Scarlett was the exact same in that there was so much more to her that you would think at first. I loved how these two were clearly attracted to each other and the chemistry was instant, yet their connection was so much deeper. They shared a passion for music, and it was so good to see them really explore that together. They were able to connect in a way that they couldn't with others, and the bond that they shared allowed them to deal with their pasts and issues together. 

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I really can't recommend this series enough. I love these characters and each book is one that I know won't let me down. Collette West writes such interesting and deep characters and each of them are so unique and different. These aren't your typical cookie cutter type of characters, and I like how real and genuine they are. Scarlett and Jake each had things that they were dealing with, and though their issues might not be ones that most people go through, they were easy to relate to and understand. I honestly can't wait for more from Collette West and I am excited to read more from her in the future.

ARC Review: Off Limits by Callie Harper

Off Limits is my first book by Callie Harper and I really enjoyed it! This book combined several of my favorite things, and I couldn't wait to read it. I am such a sucker for sexy fighters and stepbrother romance stories, and this one was so good! I might not have known Callie Harper before starting, but after finishing this book I will definitely be reading more from her in the future. 

Tuck and Jewel met and were drawn to each other instantly. But not long after meeting, they find out that their parents are dating. They know they need to stay away from each other and figure that they will never see each other again, but then their parents get married and everything changes. Now stuck living in the same house for the summer, the attraction between them continues to grow. But Tuck plans on using the summer to get out from under his billionaire father's thumb and becoming a pro MMA fighter. He is used to one and done when it comes to women, but he soon realizes that Jewel is different. But Jewel is determined not to give in to the attraction between them. Can Tuck convince her to be bad with him? 

I really liked Tuck and Jewel. These two were so hot together. The chemistry between them was evident right away and I honestly couldn't get enough of them! They were beyond sexy together and I was surprised that my Kindle didn't overheat with the steam between these two. I also really enjoyed seeing these two get to know one another though. They both made assumptions about each other at times and as they got to know one another they realized that they had things wrong. Tuck and Jewel were really great for one another, and I liked that they were different. They were the perfect match for the other, and their differences are what made them work so well.

Overall, this was a great story and I couldn't put it down! It was super hot and really enjoyable. I will admit that there were a few times that I didn't like things that both of them did, but I still really enjoyed the book and would recommend this one. Callie Harper drew me right in and I liked the characters a lot. I will look for more from her in the future and can't wait to see what she writes next.
