Sealed With a Kiss: Maggie Robinson and Giveaway

Maggie Robinson is a former teacher, library clerk and mother of four who woke up in the middle of the night, absolutely compelled to create the perfect man and use as many adverbs as possible doing so. A transplanted New Yorker, she lives with her not-quite perfect husband in Maine, where the cold winters are ideal for staying inside and writing hot historical romances.

Maggie Robinson also writes under the name Margaret Rowe. Margaret is an RT Reviewers Choice nominee in the best erotic fiction category for Any Wicked Thing and will be going to the RT convention in Chicago in April.

Maggie's Master of Sin comes out March 27, 2012 and hope's to be signing both books. Margaret has a short story in Agony/Ecstasy that releases this month.

Love letters have definitely gone out of fashion. Somehow love emails just don’t have the same zing. In Regency times, people spent hours writing letters. Several of my couples communicated by letter with each other in my books, but I decided to pick a couple that didn’t write to each other. Couldn’t. For the hero Desmond Ryland, Marquess of Conover was married to someone else and wandering the globe to escape from his miserable marriage. His true love Laurette was attempting to live a virtuous life without him. Here’s what they might have written when their hearts were full of longing.

Dear Con,

I wonder where you are. Everyone was shocked when you simply disappeared. Walked out on your new son. How could you? A child is a gift, a treasure. The Con I loved valued responsibility above all—you married to save your people, did you not? Yet you have deserted James, and Marianna too. If you were here, I would dunk you in the river to wake some sense into you.

And then, God help me, I would kiss you.

But we must not go further. I know that, have known since Marianna and her father came to Ryland Grove. What we did that summer was so very foolish. and if you knew the consequences

Someday I hope you will come home. But not to me. You have a wonderful boy. I see him often. He even calls me “Aunt Laurette.” You would be horrified, perhaps, but Marianna and I have become friends. I have watched James grow and see you in him, all elbows and knees and wild dark hair. Marianna is raising him to be a gentleman, worthy of the marquessate he will one day inherit. But pray God, not too soon. I hope you are keeping yourself safe in your travels, and that you discover whatever you are searching for is right here, in the eyes of your child. He needs his father to teach him to fish in the Piddle and climb trees and how to kiss girls. He’s such a sober little boy, and I know you could make him laugh.

It would be enough for me to pass you on the street in the village and nod, to know you are well, living the life you were meant to. It will have to be enough, for I will never have what I want, a future with you, our own child with us. You are the Marquess of Conover, and your people still need you, though Marianna manages very well.

I think of you often, and wish things had been otherwise. But they are not, and we go on. Please come home, Con. For James. For me.

Your affectionate friend,
Laurette Vincent

Check out Laurette and Con's love story in Mistress by Midnight!

First comes seduction…

As children, Desmond Ryland, Marquess of Conover, and Laurette Vincent were inseparable. As young adults, their friendship blossomed into love. But then fate intervened, sending them down different paths. Years later, Con still can’t forget his beautiful Laurette. Now he’s determined to make her his forever. There’s just one problem. Laurette keeps refusing his marriage proposals. Throwing honor to the wind, Con decides that the only way Laurette will wed him is if he thoroughly seduces her…

Then comes marriage…

Laurette’s pulse still quickens every time she thinks of Con and the scorching passion they once shared. She aches to taste the pleasure Con offers her. But she knows she can’t. For so much has happened since they were last lovers. But how long can she resist the consuming desire that demands to be obeyed?

  11. Thank you for the interview! I agree that emails just don't mean as much as letters and I actually still write love letters to my husband (call me old fashioned and overly romantic LOL)! I know all too well the pain of being in love with someone you can't have and the fear of never getting that HEA (long story short, my hubby was my best friend for many years but was married to another women who was unfaithful and cruel to him and it killed me to see him endure what he went through because he didn't believe in divorce being an option. Thankfully she took matters out of his hands and finally left him after she found a guy that wanted more than a one night stand. I say this by no means to scandalize my husband's ex, on the contrary, I am thankful every day for the choices she made because if not for that, I would not have the most wonderful husband in the world!). Thank you for the giveaway!
