Interview with Author Aleah Barley and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome to RFTC author Aleah Barley. Aleah is celebrating the recent release her her book Too Hot to Handle and stopped by to answer some questions. Before we can get to the interview, lets get to know Aleah some.

Aleah Barley is a writer of humorous (she hopes) contemporary romance. After living all over the United States, she recently moved to Motor City with a fluffy Maine Coon Cat who is constantly trying to appropriate her computer. Her debut book ‘What Goes Around’ is due out from Entangled Publishing’s Indulgence line any minute. She is hard at work on her next book.

Places to find Aleah:

Did you always want to be a writer?
Ever since I could hold a pencil. My first 'book' was bound in cardboard and starred a family of balloons. I was five. I've improved since then, promise.

What kind of writer are you? Panster or Plotter?
Both! I plot as much as my can then my brain goes on the fritz and I pants all over the place. Pants! You should see my new pants!

But seriously, when I sat down to write Too Hot to Handle (a story about a formidable police detective, an ex-car thief hiding out from an arsonist, and some sexy, sexy cars) I had the general bones of the story. The rest kind of fell into place later.

Where do your ideas come from?
Magic. In the case of Too Hot to Handle I got the idea for one of the cars (and a major subplot) from The New York Times. :)

A la Twitter style, can you describe your book (or series) in 140 characters or less?
I really like the tagline my awesome editor helped me come up with: 'He stole her heart, she stole his car.'

What are some of your favorite kinds of stories to read?
Stories with smexy, smexy guys and lots of danger. Just like what I write.

Do you have a favorite book and if so what is it?
Anything by Lee Child, Carl Hiaasen, or Jennifer Crusie. Also, anything with a neon cover or a shirtless guy.

What are the scenes that are the hardest for you to write?
All of them. Actually, any scenes I have to rewrite or add later are the hardest to write.

If you could have dinner with any three authors, who would you choose and why?
Dead or alive? Dead: Shakespeare, Jane Austen, and Oscar Wilde. Alive: Jennifer Crusie, Tim Dorsey, and Lawrence Block. Dead and alive? That's more difficult. Oscar Wilde, Lawrence Block, and--can't decide! can't decide!

Last question, are you working on anything right now?
I have a very specific writing plan: 'Cross my fingers, say a prayer, and hope like hell.' In other words, I'm not sure what will pan out next.

She was playing with fire...

Honey Moore has made her pledge: no more stealing cars and no more lusting after Jack Ogden. But when an arsonist torches her house and chases her all over Los Angeles, she’s forced to throw herself on Jack’s mercy. No one will look for a convicted felon in an LAPD detective’s apartment, right?

…and he didn't want to get burned

Jack doesn’t need a woman like Honey in his life. She might be sexy, but trouble follows her everywhere. But it’s hard to walk away from someone who lives at full throttle—and even harder to keep her safe. Now he’ll have to sacrifice everything to protect Honey from the arsonist determined to kill her.
