Guest Post with Author Gabrielle Bissett and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome back to the blog author Gabrielle Bisset. Gabrielle is currently on tour promoting the release of her book Blood Betrayed and has stopped by today to chat. Before I give the floor over to Gabrielle, let's get to know her a bit.

Gabrielle Bisset spends her days teaching college students American and European history, but by night she's an erotic romance author. Her first book, Stolen Destiny, was released by Siren Publishing in June 2011, and since then she's released the novellas of The Victorian Erotic Romance Trilogy--Vampire Dreams, Love's Master, and Masquerade--in addition to Destiny Redeemed. In December 2011, she released Blood Avenged, the first book in the Sons of Navarus series about eight vampires who must protect their world against an enemy that travels among their kind. She lives in Pennsylvania with her teenage son and a herd of pets.

Thanks to Danielle for having me here at her blog again for another tour. It's always good to get back to old friends!

Blood Betrayed is the first story I've written about second chance love. I think I'd always had the idea in my head, but it wasn't until Saint and Solenne that the idea came to fruition. For me, a second chance at love is very romantic.

A second chance, of course, means that the first time things may not have ended well. This always brings the possibility that hurt feelings may keep the two people apart forever. For Saint and Solenne, there's also the added issue that Saint has never forgiven Solenne. That's a tough hurdle to overcome for any couple. Saint has had almost one hundred years to think about the wrong he's convinced she's done to him. And he's a stubborn man who's convinced himself he doesn't need love or anything else, for that matter.

But it's the love that has to fight its way through all the bad that is often the strongest. Both Saint and Solenne are resilient characters, and this helps them to see how precious they are to one another. And neither one has ever been able to forget the other. There's something to be said for a love that's never died after nearly a century.

In the end, though, their love may have to wait because their world is in the middle of a civil war between the Archons who want to take over the vampire world and the Sons of Navarus who are going to do anything to stop them. The romantic in me says they'll get their happy ending, but these two will have to fight to have it.

From what I know of them, I think they'd challenge time itself to have that happiness they always wanted with one another.

I am everything forbidden. I am vampire.

Haunted by betrayal, Saint hides in the human world, giving his heart to no one and finding the only solace from his past in the arms of human women. Now as the Archons begin their takeover of the vampire world, this Son of Navarus has been marked for death.

Summoned to defeat the Archons by the world that shunned him, Saint must face his past and Solenne, the woman he loved and lost a century ago, for only in accepting her will his body and soul finally find salvation.

Places to Purchase:

"Solenne, can you find a woman who doesn't smell like she's been deep fried in animal fat tonight?"

Closing the door to the refrigerator, Solenne turned to see Saint standing at the kitchen's center island. Shirtless. Again.

"Saint, do you own any shirts or do you need me to pick some up for you?"

Smirking, he raised his eyebrows in amusement. "Have we become a prude?"

Pushing past him, she sat down at the table and popped a grape into her mouth. "Don't you concern yourself with me, but dial back the Cro-Magnon act, can you?"

Leaning against the counter, Saint propped himself up on his elbows and rolled his eyes. "And the girl from last night?"

Solenne secretly enjoyed the thought of him repelled by Marie for any reason. Maybe he didn't drink from her. That would explain why he was being such an ass. Maybe he didn't sleep with her either.

"Marie seemed perfectly fine to me," she said casually as she picked grapes off the vine. "Maybe you just weren't her type. Maybe she has more refined tastes in men."

"Yeah, that sounds right. A woman who smells like a French fry has refined tastes. Just find me a woman who smells like a woman should."

You'll be lucky if I bring you one at all.

Saint strolled past her after issuing his order as if he were the king of the castle. God, he was infuriating! If she'd ever met a man who could push her buttons more than Saint, she couldn't remember him. Wouldn't have wanted to remember him, at any rate.

It still amazed her how different he and his brother were. Teagan was smooth and so much fun to be around. And Saint? Always the darker, more sullen brother, he'd transformed into a shell of the man she'd met a hundred years ago, more detached and alone than anything else now.

But behind his gruff exterior—behind the defensiveness—that vulnerable soul she'd known then must still exist. At least she hoped it did.

It did no good to think about that now, though. She had a job to do, and at the moment that meant finding a human female to provide him with what he needed.

Even if it felt like she was betraying everything she held dear in her heart the whole time she was doing it.

  1. I would like to know if you have a favorite and who it is? Thanks for the giveaway.

    1. A favorite Son? I don't, actually, because I keep falling in love with each one as I write his book. LOL Since each Son is so different, it's sort of like having the perfect man for every mood. Vasilije is pure sensuality, whereas Saint is darker and brooding. And Terek, whose book Blood Spirit comes out next month, is more mystical and seductive. By the time I'm done writing the series, there will be every kind imaginable. :)

  2. I love the names Saint and Solenne. Very memorable!! Thank you for the great excerpt.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Mary! I'm a fan of making the names meaningful, so I love them too. :)

  3. im so pleased that saint and solenne got to have a 2nd chance at their beautiful sensual love story. i think solenne fell for saint so hard, even after all those years no one else would do. and of course it was the same for saint, but being a son of navarus, and a gorgeous vampire he was to afraid in way to admit it. thank you gabrielle for this wonderful series. waiting for blood spirit next with terek story, beautiful, sensual former monk

  4. Thanks for stopping by, Julie! These two have a special place in my heart because they're so stubborn, especially Saint. And Terek is on the way. Just about a month from now...

  5. Ooooh, I got so wrapped up in answering comments that I forgot to say thank you for having me here today. I appreciate that you're on Blood Betrayed's tour. :)

  6. Thank you Gabrielle for writing such beautiful books. Saint and Solenne were lucky enough to have a second chance and it just shows that love survives anything. Cant wait for Terek!

  8. No need to tell you how much I love your "Sons of Navarus" (especially Saint).

Saint & Solenne's story is heart wrenching and brought tears to my eyes. Each son has his own personality and you do an amazing job of bringing each individual 'Son's' story to us.

Thank you so much for bringing this awesome series to us and sharing your truly wonderful talent.

  9. Thanks so much, Gayle! I had a wonderful (if not difficult) time writing Blood Betrayed. Brooding vampires always put me through the wringer. ;)

  10. It's great that Saint and Solenne get a second chance at a happy ending. This book, this series, sounds fantastic. Can't wait to read Blood Betrayed to see more of Saint and Solenne. How many books will be in the series?

    1. Well, there are eight Sons who all want their own story told. And Saint and Solenne will appear again in the series. Both are very important characters. :) Thanks for stopping by!

  16. Hi Gabrielle
Second chances stories are very interesting because the characters already know each other. I must read the book to find out how Saint comes to trust Solenne again.
