Guest Post with Author Christine Bell and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome to RFTC, author Christine Bell. Christine is celebrating the recent release of her book Down and Dirty and has stopped by to chat. Please give Christine a warm welcome.

Christine Bell is one half of the happiest couple in the world. She and her handsome hubby currently reside in Pennsylvania with a four-pack of teenage boys and their two dogs, Gimli and Pug. If she gets time off from her duties as maid, chef, chauffeur, or therapist, she can be found reading just about anything she can get her hands on, from Young Adult novels to books on poker theory. She doesn’t like root beer, clowns or bugs (except ladybugs, on account of their cute outfits), but lurrves chocolate, going to the movies, the New York Giants and playing Texas Hold ‘Em. Writing is her passion, but if she had to pick another occupation, she would be a pirate…or, like, a ninja maybe. She loves writing fun and adventure-filled romance stories, but also hopes to one day publish something her dad can read without wanting to dig his eyes out with rusty spoons.

Places to find Christine:

Hello blog readers, author Christine Bell here! Danielle so kindly invited me to come by and talk about my book, Down and Dirty, which is the second book in the Dare Me series. I said, “HECK yeah!” but we thought, rather than listen to ME blather on about it, we could kind of see what the stars of the book had to say before I started writing their book. Please meet Shane Decker and Cat Thomas:

Hey guys!

Shane: *glances at watch* Hello.
C: Hey everyone!

So let’s cut to the chase, shall we? What’s going on between the two of you? You can cut the tension like a knife…

C: *overly bright smile* Nothing. Nothing is going on with us. We’re old fr-”

S: *cuts in* She’s a chicken shit.

C: Me? I’m a chicken shit? I’ve eaten scorpions, skated roller derby, swam with sharks, jumped out of a-”

S: Yeah yeah yeah, we all know you’re an adrenalin junkie. But you’re terrified of relationships and being around me makes you extremely uncomfortable.

C: *hands on hips* And what makes you think that? You ruined my junior year of high school, following me around and ruining my good times. You’re not the fun police, you’re like the fun SWAT team, with, like, tactical gear, and tear gas and oozies and-

S: SWAT don’t carry oozies. And face it. You want me.

C: I-

S: Bad.

C: *tight smile* Next question please.

Um, oookay, so let’s get this back onto safer ground. *uncomfortable chuckle* Tell me, what do guys do for fun?

C: He poops on parades.

S: She breaks hearts.

C: *whips around to face Shane* How would you even know? You’ve been away for like four years, and even before that, we avoided each other as much as possible since that thing…

S: You mean when we almost did it?

C: -_- We didn’t almost do it. I was going skinny dipping so I could cross it off my bucket list, and you came to ruin my fun like usual.

S: I came to make sure you didn’t drown or get assaulted by some drunk teenage boy with more hormones than brains. You’re welcome. And I don’t need to be back home to know you’re still breaking hearts. You never could stick in with a man because you’re afraid.

C: Stop saying that. I’m not afraid, I just haven’t found the right guy.

S: *raises brows* What was wrong with your last boyfriend?

C: Lots of stuff. First off, he ate pudding with a fork. Who does that? And he thought Aerosmith was one guy. Like Arrow Smith. You can’t honestly expect me to be with someone like that long term.

S: What about the one before that?

C: *mulling* Steve? Oh, no way. He kept using the phrase “Yolo.” I’d be like, “Do you want to try that new Tai place on Market Street and he’d shrug and go, “Sure. Yolo.” How many times can a person listen to that, am I right.

S: *Aims smile at interviewer* See what I mean? I rest my case.

*clears throat* Alrighty, then! *fumbles for thoroughly innocuous topic* What’s your favorite kind of music?

C: Classic rock
S: Classical

Favorite food?
C: Indian
S: Italian

Favorite football team?
C: Patriots
S: The Giants

Do you guys agree on…anything?
C: No
S: Yes

*scrubs hand over eyes* Okay! I think we can wrap up here, thanks guys.

Readers, clearly these two needed some attitude adjusting, and I THINK I got them all squared away now. Want to see if they managed to take all this tension and turn it into something magical? Check out Down and Dirty!

And talk to me. What do you think about the old “opposites attract” adage? Sage advice, or baloney?

He was a dare she'd never been able to resist...

Cat Thomas has never been the kind of girl to stick. A self-professed infatuation junk, she latches on the newest, hottest guy on the block, then finds a reason--real or imagined--to dump him. When she accepts a dare to rekindle her high school flame and jump in bed with her brother's best friend, Shane Decker, she knows she's in trouble. She can't resist the man, even after all these years apart, and that just won't do.

Shane has come back to town for a couple reasons. The biggest one? He's tired of living away from those he loves, including Cat. But now she's spooked and will do anything to drive a wedge between them, including trying to fix him up with other women through an online dating service.

What does he have to do to make her see that settling down doesn't mean settling, and he's ready to spend a lifetime proving it?

  1. I believe it. Most couples I know are opposites. I think when two people are too much alike, it causes friction.

  2. Hmm, I do believe that opposites attract, but I think there have to be some core similarities for it to really work!

  3. I agree with the age old saying that opposites attract. You need to have someone to balance you out.

  4. I believe in the old “opposites attract” adage.

  5. I agree. I believe a good couple is a team and they work best when each have their own strengths to share and to make a complete body.

  6. Baloney. I really think you need to have something in common for the relationship to work.

  7. Sage advice... My husband and I are very much opposites.

  8. If two people are too much alike, it can be a disaster; if they're at least opposite in *some* key ways, they have a better chance since they'll balance each other out better. If one is strong where the other is weak, they can be stronger together. If neither one, for example, is responsible with money or is able to back down and let someone else take charge once in a while, it can be very bad indeed.

  9. I believe that sometimes opposites do attract and can sometimes form lasting relationships. Other times the attraction fizzles and all you are left with is sometimes good memories.

  10. I think that it can be true.
Thanks for the chance to win!

  11. Can be sage advice... I was just reading that men and women are attracted to each other's pheremones / smell based on being immune to different things... basically your ideal partner has immunity markers that are your opposite and so your children are more likely to be healthier because they have a higher chance of fighting off yucky diseases. Coolness huh?

  12. I think opposites do attract, but sometimes I don't think they should.

  13. Yeah... but I think people can also like people because they are very similar.

  15. I believe it can be true. For, if you were too much alike, you'd get bored of each other.

  16. sometimes it can be true, I seen it happen. I have friends who are dating people complete opposite of them, and sometimes it's weird but other time it brings out sides in them I never knew existed.
