Places to find Mandy:

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! We can’t have a post today without some kind of theme related to this holiday. I thought about writing about leprechauns, shamrocks, luck, Irish, etc. But I decided to tell an embarrassing story from my childhood…although you all will be experiencing some luck in the form of a free ebook at the end of this post. As for my childhood story? Oh hindsight can be a bitch!

When I was in elementary school, I wanted to do something fun for this holiday. Sure, everybody always wore something green—and sometimes the green wasn’t always visible or technically in the green color family. But I didn’t want to just wear something green. Oh no, I wanted my hair to be green. Yes. My hair. My mom put some temporary green dye in my hair the night before… it might have even been a homemade concoction. Who knows? The next morning, the older boy that I had a serious crush on, got on the bus and talked to me. He kept staring at my hair! It was one of the moments where I realized instantly it was a huge mistake! I had to go throughout the day with people staring at the green frizzy mess. Why oh why hadn’t my mother stopped me? I wondered. I do have one fond memory of that day, though. When I got back on the bus that afternoon, the boy congratulated me on thinking outside the box. And in my pre-pubescent mind, that attention probably made the embarrassment worth it.

But I’ll never dye my hair green again. Today, it might not seem that big of a deal. Kids wear their hair all different colors. Hell, I’ve even talked about putting Lilac highlights in my hair…but I won’t be dying it green. Hell to the no.

Now for you holiday luck. My publisher is offering book one in my Woods Family Series, SURROUNDED BY WOODS, for free on all major sites to celebrate the latest release in the series, SURROUNDED BY SECRETS. Go get your freebie while you can! And don’t forget to enter my contest for a chance to win a $100 gift card. Who knows… today might be luckier for you than you think.

Lillian Caldwell has eyes on the hottie with the body, Jack Woods, one of the men who bought her family land and now new boss. She has big plans for Jack, including the getting-him-horizontal variety, and she always gets what she wants.

Jack is the family hard ass who’s trying to make amends. His plans of digging into the family secret he discovered are thwarted when he’s forced to work with Lillian, his gorgeous, pain-in-the-ass neighbor.

But a night of passion will unlock the secrets surrounding them and change both their lives forever.

Warning: This book contains a spitfire woman who doesn’t take no for an answer and a strong alpha mountain lion shifter whose preverbal bark really is as a bad as his bite.

  8. This question is for Mandy: What specifically influenced you to write this book? An event? A person? Etc?

  10. @Meghan, it really wasn't any one thing, but a combination of things. I was shopping a Y/A series but reading a lot of paranormal erotic romance. I really wanted to just try it but was a little nervous about writing explicit sex. Then there was an open call for short erotic fiction from a major publisher (don't remember which one... Berkly, Avon, or something like that) with a 15k word max. I figured it wouldn't hurt to just try and submit it to them. But when I drafted the story, it didn't feel right. Plus I struggled to get it under the 15k word limit. I ended up putting it aside and working on other projects, rather than submitting it to the open call. Then a couple of months later, I decided I'd just write the story I wanted to tell and not be limited on word count. The first book was almost double the size of the original manuscript. I still wasn't sure if I could cut it was an erotic romance author, so I decided I'd submit it to three publishers and no more, since I'd already submitted an erotic contemporary elsewhere and was waiting to hear back. If any of these three accepted Surrounded by Woods, then great. If not, I'd continue with my Y/A stuff. I got an email from one saying it'd passed the initial review AND I got acceptance emails from the other two publishers all within like a week of each other. I was floored! A week after that, I got an acceptance on the contemporary novella I submitted (the open call was with Ellora's Cave!). It took a long time to get to that point, but once Surrounded by Woods got accepted, everything happened so fast after that. :)
