My Favorite Book Boyfriend with Heather Snow and Giveaway

Heather Snow is an award winning historical romance author with a degree in Chemistry who discovered she preferred creating chemistry on the page rather than in the lab. The final book in her Veiled Seduction series, SWEET MADNESS, hits shelves April 2, 2013. RT Book Reviews Magazine gives it 4 ½ stars, saying “In this emotional, compassionate romance...the powerful love story will sweep readers away." RT also gave her hero a K.I.S.S. designation, saying he “makes you weak in the knees as he accepts the healing power of love.” Book Obsessed Chicks gave it 5 stars, saying, “Heather Snow is cutting edge…a master storyteller. Sweet Madness is a magnificent story.” And Night Owl Reviews chose it as a top pick, saying, “Fresh and unique…sweet and heart-wrenching, with characters so complex, flawed, and emotionally scarred that they feel flesh and blood real.”

Caine, Marquess of Cainewood VS Anthony Mallory

I’m thrilled to be here today at Ramblings From This Chick to share my favorite book boyfriend…um, boyfriends. You see, I can’t decide. I’ve been in love with these two men for almost the exact same amount of time…say, oh, 23 years or so. They’re both tall, dark and dreamy and when I think of them I get, well, quite steamy.

Let me tell you a little more about the loves of my young reading life…

First we have Caine, Marquess of Cainwood from Julie Garwood’s Guardian Angel. Powerful and charismatic, Caine is an ex-government operative who is out for revenge against the pirate who killed his little brother. Brooding and lethal, no one who has gone up against Caine has come out the winner.

On the other hand, we have Anthony Mallory from Johanna Lindsey’s Tender Rebel. Anthony’s more your charming rake, with a devilmaycare attitude, a sharp wit and a fabulous sense of humor. No one who has gone up against Tony has come out the winner, either—in the boxing ring at Gentlemen Jackson’s, that is.

With two such different men, you’d think it would be easy to choose. So let’s look at what they have in common and see why I am so torn…

They’re both a little arrogant (which I’ve always kind of liked)…confidence is sexy. They’re both honorable—a must. They’re both protective of what is theirs and here’s the best part…they are both patient and longsuffering, qualities any boyfriend of mine, book or otherwise, would need plenty of.

Last, but not least, Caine and Anthony both fall for feisty redheads…no wonder I love them! The perfect book boyfriends for me!

So, do you like your heroes commanding or a little more devilmaycare? The winner will get their choice between MY book boyfriends, Caine and Anthony. (I’ll try not to be jealous).

The Emerald flew across the seas, carrying the pirate Pagan -- despised by the ton, whose riches he plundered, and beloved by the poor, whose plight was eased by his gifts.

The Marquess of Cainewood vows to hunt down the pirate wretch in revenge for his brother's death. But when Jade, an enchanting vision of rippling red hair and eyes of jewel-green, appears at his door to beg desperately for his protection, the Marquess agrees to keep her safe from the villains who want her dead. Jade is infuriating, exasperating, and gorgeous; Caine is noble, strong-willed, and powerful. No woman has ever befuddled him so, nor so deeply aroused his desire. But as Jade answers his knowing caresses with an innocent, wild abandon, they are drawn into a web of treachery that will test the very heart of their love!

AN UNTAMED MIND

Ever since her husband’s sudden and tragic death, Lady Penelope Bridgeman has committed herself to studying the maladies of the mind, particularly treating traumatized soldiers of the Napoleonic Wars. It is this expertise that brings the Marquess of Bromwich’s family to her door.

Gabriel Devereaux’s unexpected and unpredictable episodes are unlike any Penelope has studied. The once proud soldier has been left shaken and withdrawn, but she manages to build a fragile trust between them. Strangely, Gabriel seems completely lucid when not in the grips of his mania, and in the calm between bouts, she is surprised by how much she is drawn to him.

Despite his own growing feelings, Gabriel knows that he is fit for no one, and is determined to keep Penelope away from his descent into madness. But even though she knows firsthand the folly of loving a broken man, Penelope cannot stop herself from trying to save him, no matter the cost.

  1. Hi Heather! You've got your self some great heroes.
Can my heroes be both? I love myself a devil may care hero but then when it comes to their lady, they can be as commanding as they like, but then I wouldn't listen to them anyways. They're not always right and I'm not always agreeable. And I like to take hold of the reins, so my heroes have to be able to keep up with me on that front.

    1. Oh, Kipha! Then you would love both of these men :) Remember, I told you they fell for fiesty redheads? I can assure you at more than one point in each of these books, the heroine takes the reins...much to our heroes' consternation and delight ;)

    1. Yep...I don't need taken care of often, but I definitely want a man capable of doing so when I need it, be he commanding or devilmaycare ;)

  5. DEFINITELY commanding...or at least more so than I am. It's like, if I am more commanding than he is, then I could be my own hero... right? (Girl Power and all, but I'm a sucker for those alphas!)

    1. I'm pretty commanding myself... I always worried that I would kill a true Alpha if we were in a relationship. Guess that's why I go for the Balpha men...strong, yet sensitive

  7. I like mine to be a bit of both.. have that commanding way with a little of the devil may care in his soul..

  8. I'm not really a "command me" type of person. That being said, if the commanding is directed elsewhere, it is definitely sexy as all get out.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I also like both, but I think I prefer commanding.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I like them both, but I like the "devilmaycare" hero more. Thanks for the suggestions. I've never read either of the books, but will definitely have to give them a try.

  11. Both... but for it depends more on the story and how he's portrayed... thanks for sharing!

  12. Commanding, comfortable in his own skin, and head over heels for the heroine.

  13. I like them both! As long that there is a nice story line! But, I tend to fall for the commanding hero would has a devilish smile! Love your books Heather, can't wait to read your next one!

  14. I like both types! I also think it depends on the heroine. But as long as the story is interesting it really doesn't matter to me!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I like either, also. Devil may care is good because he can be caught in love without realizing it is coming. The commanding hero is good because he thinks he has everything under control, but can't control love.

  18. I'll go with commanding with a side of humor. I love the strond protective types (I married one :-) ) but life must be filled with humor to get througt those rough spots!

  19. I like mine commanding for sure, the strong silent type.

  20. I like a good mix of both. That cn make for a very exciting relationship.

  21. I love the more commmanding type of hero, but do also like the devil may care attitude. I prefer the more commanding, the alpha personality.
I love the Malory's. I like the younger ones like Derek and my fav Jeremy.
    Thanks for the giveaway.

  26. Johanna Lindsey's Mallory Clan is one of my favorite families. The women are bold and brash and the men all that and much more. I love Julie Garwood's historical novels, especially the Highlander series with Brodick and Ramsey. Yummy!

  27. I generally like my heroes to be a little more devil-may-care. Anthony and James Mallory are both favorites of mine.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I like commanding heroes and with a wicked sense of humour. Someone who can take charge plus make me laugh.

  29. I'm very torn between the two. :) I like them both with the right guys.

  30. I like both. I love an alpha male with a take charge attitude, but also the rogue who doesn't care.

  31. I like them both. How about a combination, a commanding hero with a sense of humor?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I like a healthy mixture of both! The commanding hero seems to offer you a great sense of safety, the devil may care with their heartwarming humor. The combination would be really hard to resist!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think a combination of both sounds hot. But I do prefer commanding. I haven't read those particular Julie Garwood and Johanna Lindsey books but I have read some of them. I have to admit that the one Johanna Lindsey book I read, I absolutely despised. Maybe I should give her a second chance though. Garwood has grown on me, on the other hand. I've probably read 4 or 5 of her books and everyone I seem to like more than the last.

  36. I like them both. If I read the same thing all the time it would get a bit boring.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Since I like stories with both, can one character have each trait? I think a hero can be commanding, yet a bit care free.

  44. Tough choice....gonna go with devil may care....more books to add to my TBR - really interesting choices that I'm paying attention to since they have made it to the top of the lists.

  45. Hi, Heather! I like both kinds of heroes, although the devil-may-care may tug at my heartstrings a bit more. Thanks so much for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think I like them commanding, tho not obnoxiously so - they should listen to others but then have the confidence to make their final decision (or maybe decide to change their minds later).

    ReplyDelete
  47. I would have to say normally it would depend on the story, but in this case, I would pick commanding. Thanks for the post.

  51. I must say I have not read any of those books before but there must be a reason why a lot of people like Julie Garwood and Johanna Lindsey’s books.

Ah, for me it depends on the storyline, but I do like them a little commanding. More fun, no?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Tough choice. I worry about many things and want to stick to the rules badly. I guess I need the devil-may-care one commanding me to stop worrying. :D
