Guest Post with Author Christine Wenrick and Giveaway

Meet Christine Wenrick, author of Someone Else’s Skye.

Christine is a graduate of Washington State University where she received a BA in Interior Design. And true to form of using mostly her ‘right brain’, she splits her time between her commercial design career and her imaginary world of writing. She lives in the scenic Pacific Northwest where she enjoys hiking, camping and photographing many of the wonderful places that served as inspiration for her Charmed Trilogy. Her biggest reward in life is any given day when one of her books connects with a reader because she herself is such a lover of reading. Some of her favorite authors include Lisa Kleypas, Julia Quinn, and Kimberly Derting.

Let’s Hear It for the Plot Twist!

As an author, I love writing a good plot twist. Especially the ones that have a reader jumping from their sofa, throwing the book to the floor, just staring at it for several minutes while trying to decide if they dare read any further.

Plot twists, in my opinion, are a must for a really good story because those readers do eventually pick the book back up. I can’t think of a better genre for this type of ‘gotcha’ moment than paranormal romance, which is why I love it so much. The world you build around your characters is heightened and superhuman, making just about anything possible. The tug and pull you between your hero and heroine created by a twist can lock the reader into the story, keeping them invested and engaged simply because they have to know how it all sorts itself out.

Someone Else’s Skye, the first book in my new Men of Brahm Hill series, has a couple of those ‘what was that’ moments. Those twists intermixed with a bit of mystery, some witty banter, and some very romantic scenes between the hero and heroine, can work to draw the reader into the story to the point they can’t let go.

And isn’t that ultimately an author’s goal? It’s definitely mine.

So I hope you will all check out Someone Else’s Skye. And thank you to Dani and Ramblings From This Chick for having me here today to talk about one of my favorite things that inspires me as a writer.

I’m really excited to be back at Ramblings From This Chick after your readers made me feel so welcome when we were here to introduced my Charmed Trilogy. SES picks up right where The Charmed Trilogy left off—with an enormous battle between humans, hybrids, vampires and Lycans.

Kane, a rare, Natural Shape-shifter, meets a mysterious woman named Skye while on assignment for The Brethren. She causes a whole bunch of trouble for him and the sparks fly almost right away.

Each of the five Brahm Hill books are a standalone story, but I recommend reading from the beginning of The Charmed Trilogy to get the most out of the plot twists that lie in store for you with Men of Brahm Hill.

And what’s the fun in guessing every step to the plot to the point that you could have written the book yourself?

Kane, Brethren Guardian and one of the few Natural Shape-Shifters left in existence, survived the bloody battle of Brahm Hill but lost two of his closest friends. For all of his good-natured sarcasm and eye-popping good looks, Kane finds himself unable to completely forget about that night, so he seeks comfort in the one thing he is truly good at . . . sex!

This shape-shifting bad boy believes in having a good time—a very good time, usually involving some mingled heavy breathing with a sexy Dhampir in a tiny closet somewhere. But when he’s sent into the freezing tundra of the Northwest Territories to investigate a troublesome supernatural being on the loose, he ends up crossing paths with a woman who almost instantly drives him insane with want . . . because she doesn’t seem to be falling for the shifter’s charms.
It’s completely inexplicable.

Skye Matthews has a job to do, and she needs to be focused on that, not spending all her time rebuffing the advances of this way-too-cocky and handsome stranger. Yet, there is something irresistible about this self-involved playboy that Skye can’t seem to stay away from. And when the unidentified Kane is sent to investigate takes an unnatural interest in her, protecting her becomes the Guardian’s top priority.

  1. As far as guessing the plot, blah. I like twists and surprises.

  2. I do get bored with books that makes it easy to predict exactly what is going to happen. Plot twists make reading fun.
