Interview with Author Robin Bielman and Giveaway

Robin Bielman lives in Southern California with her high school sweetheart husband, two sons, and crazy-cute mini Labradoodle, Harry. When not attached to her laptop, she can almost always be found with her nose in a book. She also likes to run, hike, and dip her toes in the ocean. Filled with wanderlust, she longs to visit many different places and fulfill her curiosity. She wouldn’t mind indulging her sweet tooth in every location either. She’s a lover of sticky notes, cable television shows and coffee drinks. Writing is a dream come true, and she still pinches herself to be sure it’s real.

She writes contemporary and paranormal romance. Her Secret Wishes series includes Kissing the Maid of Honor, RITA® Finalist Her Accidental Boyfriend, and Wild About Her Wingman. In July, 2014 her first single title paranormal romance, Veiled Target, will be released. She loves to connect with readers.

First off, can you tell us a bit about you?
Thanks so much for having me here today! *waves hello* I’m a wife and a mom of two boys and we’ve got a very cute dog named Harry, who is perfect and naughty at the same time. I live in Southern California and the beach is my favorite place. I also love cupcakes. And coffee drinks. Oh, and TV and movies. I read whenever I get the chance, too!

A la Twitter style, please describe your book (or series) in 140 characters or less.
He’s worldly, adventurous, sexy, & she’s…not. But the more time they spend together, the less they can resist each other. #oppositesattract

What types of scenes are your most favorite to write?
I really enjoy writing all types of scenes. I do, however, struggle with the black moment. I always need to add more conflict in edits. My editors are helping me to better keep my characters apart. LOL I just want everyone to be happy.

What are the things that influence you the most as a writer?
Other books influence me. TV shows. And just being out and about and trying to notice the things going on around me.

What are some of your favorite characteristics to find in a hero?
I love a guy who’s loyal, protective, funny, puts others before himself, has integrity. And of course he’s got to be easy on the eyes – which can mean something different to everyone.

Tell me, is there anything that we would be surprised to learn about you?
Gosh, I don’t think so. The time I spent in the CIA isn’t—oops wasn’t supposed to mention that. ;)

If you could live inside any book, which one would you choose and why?
I’d like to live inside Jill Shalvis’s Lucky Harbor series of books and be pals with all her heroes and heroines please.

If you could spend the day in the shoes of any of your characters, who would you choose and why?
Oh, this is a great question. Since I’m here celebrating Zane and Sophie’s story, though, I’m going to Sophie. I’d love to surf with Zane.

If you were stranded on a desert island and could bring only three items, what would you bring and why?
I’d bring my hubby because his nickname is MacGyver and he can seriously do everything and anything and he’d keep me warm at night. I’d bring my Nook and it would magically always be charged and have a gazillion books on it. And I’d bring a chef to cook for me and my hubby. (On my desert island there’s an abundance of food to be caught or picked.)

Last question, are you working on anything right now?
Thanks for asking! Yes, I’m finishing up the next book in my Take A Risk series, which is releasing in January. And then I’ve got two more books in my Kisses in the Sand series. Honor and Bryce’s story is up next!

Since I loved your question about which of my characters’ shoes I’d like to spend the day in, I’d love to know from your readers which character – book or TV or film – they’d like to be for a day.

A temporary agreement neither could keep…

Brainy, organized Sophie Birch is no beach bunny. In fact, she’s totally out of her element among the sun-bronzed crowd at a film festival in beautiful White Strand Cove. When a surf lesson introduces her to Zane Hollander, suddenly she's up close and personal with the world's sexiest surf star. But what can a great-looking, experienced athlete possibly see in a klutzy out-of-towner who’s never set foot in the ocean?

Zane Hollander's playboy reputation has never been a problem…until recently. Now his management team wants him on his best behavior to entice a meaningful new sponsor. Sophie Birch is the perfect girl to help reform his image. She's genuine and respected—and their relationship is purely fictional. But the more Sophie blooms under the beachy sun, the more Zane knows he'll just break her heart. Because nothing's more important to Zane than following the tide.

  2. Great question!
Today, I'd pick Birdee Calvert (Sandra Bullock's character) from Hope Floats. Yes, she had her meltdown when her marraige ended, but she picked herself back up & figured out who she was! I loved her free-spirited mom, and her super cute/sarcastic daughter. To seal the deal: Hello, Justin Matisse (Harry Connick, Jr.) for my leading guy! Sounds like an all-around win for me!

  3. It would probably be in my favorite movie or show at any given time. Maybe Sleepy Hollow with Icabod and Abby to protect me because the world building is so much better than I expected it to be.

  7. Hi Robin! I think I'd like to be any of Jill Shalvis's Lucky Harbor series heroines. They are all "normal" people who end up with hottie guys. The same goes for the characters in Kristan Higgins's Blue Heron series. Love both of those authors! Congrats on the new release--I can't wait to get a chance to read it!
