I love watching the hero and heroine grow and how their lives were changed because as they journeyed to their happily ever after. Some of the books made me feel good by the end of the story. I think that romance novels celebrate what's good about falling in love. It shows that it can be helpful and even if the reader is having a bad day, they can live vicariously through the characters. In romance, you will laugh, cry and cheer the characters on.
The first romance novel I read was by the late Gwynne Forrester's " Beyond Desire." I was so taken by the story and the struggle that continued to threaten the hero and heroine from being together. All the while, I rooted for them to reach their happily ever after. After that, I was hooked. I've always been a writer, but I knew after reading all those books, I wanted to write about love.
Books that helped me love romance were:
Rochelle Alers - Hideaway Series
Brenda Jackson - Madaris Series
Francis Ray - Heart of the Falcon Series
many, many more.
