My First Love Event with Nicole Flockton

USA Today Bestselling author Nicole Flockton writes sexy contemporary romances, seducing you one kiss at a time as you turn the pages. Nicole likes nothing better than taking characters and creating unique situations where they fight to find their true love.

Apart from writing Nicole is busy looking after her very own hero – her wonderfully supportive husband, and two fabulous kids. She also enjoys watching sports and, of course, reading.

What is first love?

During our lifetime we experience a lot of first loves. That first crush/love in school, you know the one with the cute boy who doesn’t know you exist. The one where you ride your bike on a hot summer’s day and pop a Christmas card in his letterbox (anonymously of course and I’m an Aussie, so I grew up with Christmas in summer). Or when you meet that guy you think is ‘the one’ and you have the rush of first love, but then find out he’s not the one after all. But there’s the first love of the man who is ‘the one’ and you marry and take the next step in live and have a child.

I’ve experienced all of the above but I have to say, even though I love my husband deeply, there’s nothing like that first rush of love you feel when the nurse pops your brand new baby in your arms. You look at the tiny little bundle and you’re consumed by a wave of unconditional love.

When I had my daughter I had to have a c-section, it was all booked in but I was a nervous wreck and just hoped I wake up and be in labour. Well that’s exactly what happened 1am Saturday morning my water’s broke. Two hours and twenty six minutes later my beautiful daughter, was born.

I was worried about being a mum, I didn’t know to do. I gagged whenever my nephews or niece threw up or had a dirty nappy/diaper. How the heck was I going to cope with my own child.

I can honestly say when I looked into her eyes and she looked back I was lost and everything clicked into place.

That first rush of love for my child was a feeling I’ve never forgotten.

In my latest release, Next Door Knight-book 2 in my Man’s Best Friend series, Kerry’s last relationship wasn’t good or healthy. Her corgi, Willow, has decided the broody neighbor next door is Kerry’s chance to really experience her first love.

I’m going to give away a copy of Blind Date Bet, the first book in my Man’s Best Friend series, all you need to do is answer this question - tell me did your high school crush know you were crushing on him/her?

Can a dog heal two wounded souls?

Newly single Kerry Williams is at her wit’s end. She's juggling her injured father’s care, a new job as the manager of a hip new restaurant and her therapy dog Willow volunteering at the Veteran’s Center -- all while struggling to rise above her humiliating heartbreak. When her father's caretaker fails to show one evening, she’s terrified she’ll lose her job. And then Willow runs away. Panicked, Kerry gives chase and immediately runs smack into a tall, dark and sexy wall of muscle, palming a squirming bundle of fur. Her new hero seems like an answer to her prayers.

The last thing K-9 officer Caleb Bradshaw wants, is to babysit his neighbor's father and her dog. He’s facing a potential career-ending injury and grieving the death of his working partner, Trigger. Sure he can handle a cranky old man, but the quiet comfort of Willow who follows him around with liquid-eyed sympathy tugs at the heart he’s trying to keep walled-off after his many painful losses.

Kerry knows Willow can ease Caleb’s grief, but he continues to push her away. Even though her life is in shambles and she too should walk, Kerry knows she can’t and won’t. Will Caleb accept her help or will he close himself off completely?
