Initially, I planned on focusing this post on my first boyfriend ever, a landscaper named Joey. Then it hit me that he wasn’t my first love, after all. Long before Joey came along, I completely loved my first dog, Frosty, a precious white Samoyed puppy. As I pushed my brain’s memory cells to the limit, I realized there was another love that came long fourteen years earlier than Frosty: my parents. True, every little girl loves her mommy and daddy, but my relationship with them eventually morphed into something more—an undying friendship. Sadly, they’re gone now. I miss them both terribly, and always will.
Ironically, when I laid my mother to rest beside my father about two years ago, among those standing with me were my brother, Matt, and the only other men I’ve ever loved, all of them ex-boyfriends. Joey, who’d coincidentally become manager of the cemetery we were standing in; Brian, the cop; and Ned the Fed, whom I’m still close friends with. I know my mother was looking down on us, smiling, while my dad was no doubt rolling his eyes about all the exes I’d accumulated in my life. Oh, well. I loved you all.

Secrets could destroy them.
Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Nick Houston is as tough as they come, and he and his K-9, Saxon, are hot on the trail of a major illegal gun dealer. But his best lead—the beautiful owner of the Dog Park Café, Andi Hardt––is not cooperating. Doesn’t matter how sexy she is, or that his dog seems to be in love with her. She’s a suspect and he won’t cross that line. Ever.
Andi Hardt sank everything into her dream business—the Dog Park Café, a restaurant catering to dogs as much as people. Now everything is in jeopardy because of one extremely frustrating, incredibly hot state trooper. Like it or not, she’s in Nick’s crosshairs, and he’s calling the shots. Her only option: cooperate, or lose everything she’s worked so hard for.
Nick and Andi are catapulted straight into the danger zone, forcing them to make life-altering choices, and face their desires. Risking his life for Andi is the easy part. Risking his heart is the toughest assignment Nick will face.
