My First Love Event with Claudia Connor

Claudia Connor is a New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author of heartfelt contemporary romance. Claudia attended Auburn University, where she received her undergraduate and masters degrees in early childhood education, and completed her studies in Sawbridgeworth, England. Always a lover of happy endings, she enjoys movies, reading, and travel, but spends most of her time typing out the love stories of the almost real people that live in her head. Claudia lives near Memphis, Tennessee, with her husband and three daughters.

Ahhh. First loves. Unfortunately, heartbreakingly so, my first love was unrequited. I was fourteen. He was twenty-four. Yeah. I know. But still, it was painful. It was a family friends kind of thing so I did see him and I did know, probably not as well as I thought I did as I had spun quite a tale in my head. Beyond handsome. Smart, accomplished, kind. You might say crush, but in my fifteen year old heart, it was love. Heart pounding, sweaty palms, painful love. I had our entire future planned, our children named. I hung on his every word and every kind attention he showed me. But oh the tears I cried when he shockingly cruised into his sister’s wedding reception with a beautiful blonde on his arm. Worse than beautiful, she was in her twenties! My heart actually ached with love for him. At a time my friends were having boyfriends and first kisses, all I wanted was to spend time with him. I did go to sports banquets or dances with with boys my age and you can imagine how far they fell short in comparison. I guess you could say I got over him but three three years is a lifetime. Probably why I have such empathy for unrequited love. Have you ever seen The Holiday? Oh, man, did I get that opening seen. Who knew all that daydreaming would be the beginning of me spinning tales for other to read? Of course back then it was something like me hanging on the edge of a cliff and him saving me or maybe I was dying from a terminal illness and it would force him to realize his undying love…Desperate times call for desperate measures after all. :)

But of course there’s a happy ending here! I found my one true love in college and we’ve been living our happily ever after for twenty-four years. But I still remember my first love, not so much him, but those painful feelings.

Anyone else? Mutual or unrequited?

When ER nurse Nora Sellers is hurt in a hospital scuffle, firefighter Zach Walker blames himself. Blaming himself is nothing new. He’s been blaming himself for years for the trauma his baby sister endured as a teenager. Though with his happy–go–lucky attitude no one would know it. He’s good at his job, he’s a good brother, and a good friend, but Zach decided long ago he wasn’t husband and father material.

Even so, when Zach learns Nora is a single mother with a house that needs his help, he can’t walk away. After a few days with Nora and her ten month old son, he knows he doesn’t want to.

But Nora’s wary. She learned at a young age that the only person she can count on is herself. Now with a baby, a job, and a fixer–upper house, the last thing Nora wants is a sexy firefighter, making her heart flutter. But Zach is more than what he seems, and the more she gets to know him the harder he is to resist.

She’s been brave all her life. Can she be brave one more time and take a chance of a lifetime with her heart?
